The Daniel bug again? (Season 10 spoilers)

*The following includes spoilers on ancient device introduced in season 10*

*Well, actually I believe it was introduced in season 9, but saw no action till season 10*

    *Ye be warned*

    *There be dragons here*

    *Oops is that a spoiler?*

Ok anyway, the thing with the "out of phase" device is that just like the Crystal Skull, it should render its affected subjects "fall through the floor". Like in the previous episode, the house should either fall right through the planet, or float away into space.

    Why?

Because we see Priors and Ori soldiers (ie. Normal matter) walking right through the phased walls and SG team memebers, meaning that all friction, heck, all molecular interaction between normal and phased matter, are completely cut off. By all means once phased Carter should just fall right through and find herself imitating Superman flying into Earth's core (possibly finding an out-of-work Aaron Eckhart).

Of course, you can argue that the Ancient device is "all mighty and powerful" with the ability to "stablize all affected matter in relative position with normal matter", but, BUT!!! That would not explain why the Prior did NOT walk ankle deep inside the phased house (nor did his stick, as I recall). Unless the village house has floor with NO height, the Prior should not appear to be walking on the floor but instead the dirt underneath the phased floor!

Yes I know it's completely irrelevent to the plot and is a minor detail that only few will ever detect (we few who have no hope of getting a life, a girlfriend, or any other social niceties that even intergalactic travellers seem to enjoy), but I've had too much coffee and now can't sleep... So what I have to say is this: they should have learned from the Crystal Skull!

If not then at least listen to the Wormhole X-treme lady...

ps. They should not have given Mckay the device, he would totally turn off the phased-matter-position-stablizer and "accidentally" phase out all female uniforms on base (and then probably find himself turned into a couch on a planet that idolizes Daniel for his allergy).

Since it is a field and apparently omnidirectional with a spherical radius, you would expect that it would just phase out everything within that sphere. Not just houses/people or a table/lab equipment, but a chunk of the earth or the concrete ceiling/floor.

The fact that it works without these glaring discrepencies tells us one of two things:
    A) It's ancient tech and really advanced and therefore accounts for everything you and I pointed out
    B) It's a TV show, they can do anything.

You wouldn't last out of phase long anyway. If the only breathable air that you could actually interact with was the air that jumped with you, then you're stuffed, as it'd all float off pretty quick.

One thing would be it works like the Stargate, it allows matter to pass through but not gases like air or liquids like water. Or something.

And it could invisibly phase out the walls n stuff, so that you are standing on a double phased wall and ground.

Or it could have an semi-anti-gravitational field included which..... inverts your polarity!

Oh yeah? Let's see them do the McKay thing... Well maybe if HBO picked up the show.

That's interesting. So the prior *could* have kill Cam and Sam by simply creating a vaccum around the invisible house...?

You would never fall through the planet, because gravity also wouldn't affect you and you get back to that floating problem, the device probably substitutes the gravity so you wouldn't float, but that still doesn't explain why you can walk on the ground, probably because it's scifi TV and anything is possible, even
            Spoiler:
            Sam and Rodney were married

Why would you fall through the floor? If you're so far removed that your feet can't interact with the ground, why would the Earth's mass exert gravity on you?

Because light appears to be interacting with Sam and Cam (kinda odd that only the visible spectrum of EMR would work and not good old regular SG radios), therefore a more penetrating force like gravity should too.

lol And it would be even funnier if Aaron Eckhart hadn't had such a good year (2006).

Yeah well... No amount of smoking will ever undo "The Core"!!! That movie was so bad, they literally dug a hole into the ground and tried to blow themselves up.
