If the mods can sticky this, people can add as they find articles/links.

Since the show is 'old' (internet-wise), there are already a ton of articles on it.

Here are links only, as articles are copyright. Click to access full documents (no guarantee they'll remain online so copy to your PC if you want to collect). Stuck a few excerpts under each URL

NBC Universal Licenses Heroes to BBC

LONDON, November 27: NBC Universal International Television Distribution has licensed Heroes, NBC’s popular new series, to the BBC for airing on BBC TWO next year.

We're talking about Hiro Nakamura, the giddy "Star Trek"-loving office drone played by Masi Oka on NBC's "Heroes" (8 p.m. Mondays on KUSA-Channel 9). Fervent fans of the show have been charmed by his gleeful energy and how he scrunches his face like a "constipated hamster" before traveling through time or space.

All the attention has been a big rush for Oka, 31, who after studying math and computer science at Brown University, pursued acting while working in the San Francisco Bay Area at George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic.

Once upon a time, if you wore horned-rimmed glasses, you were considered a high-tech geek. Pocket protector included.

But now there's a slightly sinister — dare we say dangerously sexy? — air among men in such frames.

Take Mr. Bennett, known to fans as "Horn-Rimmed Glasses" in the surprise NBC hit Heroes. He appears to be an ordinary Odessa businessman who works at a paper plant. But we know better

That's just a sampling. To find news/articles on HEROES (or its cast), use these search engines

http://news.google.com/
http://news.yahoo.com/
http://www.altavista.com/news/
http://news.ask.com/news

Those are the main search engines for news. Since "Heroes" is a very generic word, you might want to add the words nbc or tv to the search.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813715/ will provide you with cast names if you want to search by actor.

Yup, I've providing the details of searching. Got too much on my plate right now to search for HEROES stuff but it's very easy. :) In fact, many of these search engines (Google and Yahoo especially) let you set 'news alerts' so the links are sent straight to your email. Yeah, it's pretty easy. ;)

Just give fair warning to the Heroes community here if there are any posts in those sites that can be duplicated/moved to other areas before being deleted. What do you think? -lis

'Heroes' returns Monday
Posted 1/16/2007 10:34 PM ET

Excerpts:

"We tried to learn from the mistakes of other serialized shows that have not run contiguous episodes back to back," series creator Tim Kring says. "What was decided is that we would do it in 'pods.' The first one was 11 episodes, which was very, very difficult to do." The second pod has six new consecutive episodes, followed by another break in March. Heroes will finish the season with a five-episode stretch ending in May.

A couple of new heroes will enter the picture: One, played by Christopher Eccleston, will serve as mentor to Peter (Milo Ventimiglia). Another, Hana, introduced in the online graphic novels, can hear wireless information, Kring says. "It's sort of the ultimate postmodern superhero."

What does 'Heroes' have in common with 'South Park'?

Who are the heroes of the "Heroes"? The cast of the hit NBC show, which returns with a new episode Monday, was asked that question at a press panel last week on the show at the Television Critics Association convention in Pasadena, Calif.
Tawny Cypress, who plays Simone, said that as a kid, she liked the Wonder Twins ("they had each other, and they became really cool things, like animals and water").

The cast of "Heroes" will grow a little bit more this season with the addition of the ever-busy Eric Roberts.
The one-time "Less Than Perfect" star will join the first-year NBC hit later this season. He'll be playing a character named Thompson, an associate of Jack Coleman's shadowy HRG, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

January 21, 2007 -- It was one of the most dramatic moments in a series that's consistently wowed viewers with its ability to intrigue, thrill and surprise - the moment when all the heroes came together and tried to save one of their own, Peter Petrelli (played by Milo Ventimiglia), from exploding.

Even though it turned out to be Peter's nightmare, this momentous event begged the slogan-worthy question, "How do you stop a man from exploding?"

Unfortunately for fans of NBC's hit drama "Heroes," it'll be a couple months before they find out.

Helmsman does Heroes
George Takei plays father of a Star Trek fan in TV hit with sci-fi content

February 02, 2007
Raju Mudhar
Staff Reporter

When most fans think of George Takei, the first thing that pops to mind is Captain Kirk's classic Star Trek utterance to his helmsman "Warp speed, Mr. Sulu!"

Now the actor is enjoying a resurgence on the science fiction-inspired hit show, Heroes. In last Monday's episode, Takei made his debut as Kaito Nakamura, the father of Hiro, the character played by Masi Oka. Takei plays a wealthy businessman who isn't particularly supportive of his son's quest to be a hero.

After that brief introduction, in upcoming episodes his character will be featured in a more prominent, recurring role.

In a freewheeling conference call yesterday, the actor discussed his life and current role, hinting that there are several interesting developments in store for his Heroes character, although there are things he remains in the dark about, or at least didn't feel like sharing.

excerpt on article on George Takei:

Heroes" creator Tim Kring appears to operate on a need-to-know basis with his actors, and Takei, who had filmed three episodes by mid-January and described his commitment to the show as "open-ended," said he's learning about his character a little bit at a time.
"I go from script to script," he said.
What he knows:
"I'm a powerful industrialist. We come from a very distinguished family, an old-line family. I was brought up that way, and I thought I would bring up my son that way, but I'm discovering that there are strange things happening."
Beyond that, "I really don't know who my character is and why my character does what he does, and what his motivations are and where he's going, because with each new script, I make new discoveries. And is he good or is he bad, is he domineering or is he being told to behave that way? I mean, there's so many ambiguous things about it," Takei said.

The Five Year Plan
Unlike other heroinarratives, like LOST, which have begun to meander, the Heroes gang has a five year plan. “We’ve thought about seasons 1-5 and how we might arc them,” said series creator Tim Kring. The creators explained that both specific and general story arcs have been considered far in advance. This week’s reveal of Nathan Petrelli being Claire’s father, for example, has been planned since day one.

Read on into the article and you see that CBS shows actually won the time slot with 2 sitcoms.

I figured 24 and Heroes would be battling it out this season but if you look at last year's ratings for 24, they are very similar so it's not really taking a hit.

I like and watch both shows but 24 wins the time slot for me because I watch it on Monday night instead of Heroes. FOX never repeats 24. Period. (Just remembered that S5 did get repeated last summer but that was a 1st) Heroes gets repeated. (Don't tape it because we have satellite tv and you can't watch something and tape something else....)

I was watching the Monday episode of Heroes on Friday on Skiffy when they repeated it. Key word being "was". It seems some jackass or a collection of them has decided to nix that because it appears that Skiffy will no longer be repeating the episodes. I checked the shedulebot and it's not on in Feb or March. I knew something was screwed up this past Friday when instead of Heroes, Skiffy aired an episode of SG-1. It didn't click until later that this was Friday and Heroes should have been on.

Oh well....

NEW YORK NEWSDAY
"Heroes" and "24" silly off
Silly is "Heroes" and "24."

Six weeks ago, we asked in this space one of the most profound questions in pop culture today -- "24" or "Heroes?" -- meaning, which one are you going to watch every Monday night at 9? But as "Heroes" goes to a brief hiatus after tonight (and will return in April), I now know that this was clearly the wrong question.
In hindsight, the right one should have been: Which show will be sillier over the ensuing weeks

N.J. native does double-duty on '24', 'Heroes'
Monday, March 5, 2007

Imagine being married to two men at the same time -- in the same time slot.
Rena Sofer's simultaneous stints as Nathan Petrelli's wife on NBC's "Heroes" and Graem Bauer's spouse on Fox's "24" are perfectly legal forms of television bigamy, with a fortuitous added fluke: The two shows face off at 9 p.m. Monday.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/03052007/tv/heroes_spring_break_tv_adam_buckman.htm

March 5, 2007 -- THE creator of "Heroes" is facing a cliffhanger of his own that will leave him in suspense for six weeks.
The question: Will his red-hot NBC series take a hit in the ratings after it disappears for six consecutive Mondays and then returns to face off against one of prime-time's biggest powerhouses, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars"?
Tim Kring admits he's concerned.
"We're living in a time with a very fickle audience that can get swayed by anything shiny and new," he said on the phone from L.A. on Friday. "While we are off, ABC is going to have 'Dancing with the Stars' on, and I can't imagine that it won't take a bit of a bite out of us."
For the second time this season, "Heroes" is taking a six-week rest following tonight's episode (9 p.m. on Ch. 4). It's the usual problem: The network TV season is 37 weeks long and "Heroes" has only 23 episodes. Five episodes will be left when "Heroes" returns April 23.

Birmingham's Ashley Crow and her husband wonder, like everyone else, about their character's fates
Sunday, March 04, 2007

Don't ask Birmingham's Ashley Crow where her character is headed on "Heroes." She doesn't know much more than we do.
"Sometimes we hear little things through the grapevine," says Crow, who plays Sandra Bennet, adoptive mom of Claire, the cheerleader who is one of the main characters in the show about people with super-human powers.
"We'll hear something that somebody else heard from someone about plot developments. That sort of thing. And when we see the writers, we always try to pick their brains. `Give us some dirt, dude.' But they never do."
In the world of "Heroes," knowing the future is key, both on screen and off. The characters' lives are often in the balance, and actors are not quite sure whether they'll have a job from one week to the next.
That's particularly important in Crow's household. Her husband, Matthew John Armstrong, plays hot-under-the-collar radioactive guy Theodore Sprague, another recurring role on the NBC hit.

Spring TV fling Q&A with Zachary Quinto, alias Sylar
Palm Beach Post Television Writer
Sunday, March 04, 2007

Sylar is on the phone.
Yes, it's the power-hungry, brain-eating serial killer from Heroes. OK, it's really Zachary Quinto, the intense actor who plays the demented wacko on the hit NBC drama.

But it's hard to tell the difference.
Quinto's voice, after all, is a low rumble. Perfect for being a late-night DJ or... a charming guy who's fond of cutting open human skulls.
We caught up with the 29-year-old actor who chatted about everything from his friendship with Tori Spelling to why a car accident at age 16 changed his life forever.
Question: So, what's it like to play a guy who rips skulls open?
Answer: It's endless fun, really. I'm having a blast. It's so enjoyable.
Q: How do you get into Sylar's mind-set?
A: I connect a lot to his past. I connect to his stillness, his solitude and the things that he was as Gabriel (the quiet watchmaker he was before he started killing people for a living as Sylar). He's not really connected to anybody or feeling a sense of purpose. I connect with the quiet, the precision, the detail.

Behind the Scenes With Heroes Creator Tim Kring and "Hiro," Masi Oka
David Kushner from Wired magazine 04.23.07 | 2:00 AM

Tim Kring doesn't know Magneto from Wolverine. You'd never know it from watching Heroes, his hit show about everyday people with extraordinary powers.

Tim Kring has never been much into comic books. As a kid growing up in Santa Maria, California, he was more into running track and playing acoustic guitar. "The idea of the dialog bubbles always bothered me," he says. (That's a major tip-off - a true comics fan knows those things are called speech balloons.)
As an adult, Kring found success as a writer and creator of mainstream TV dramas - Chicago Hope and Providence in the 1990s, Crossing Jordan in 2001. His only brush with geekdom was when, at the age of 24, he sold his first script to the so-lame-it's-cool show Knight Rider.

'Heroes' finale delivers big resolution, smaller cliffhangers
By Bill Keveney, USA TODAY

LOS ANGELES — As NBC's Heroes shoots climactic scenes from its season finale on a downtown office plaza, the blood tie between characters is literal. It's on their shirts, pants and shoes.
Saving the world is a dangerous task, one that has taken hold of the heroes of TV's top new series.
When Heroes returns tonight (9 ET/PT) after a seven-week break, the season's final five episodes will focus on whether they can stop — or will be part of — the nuclear destruction of New York.
On a windy, chilly L.A. night, Arco Plaza has been remade as New York's Kirby Plaza (a tribute to comic-book legend Jack Kirby), complete with a police car, subway entrance and parking meters. An unusually large number of Heroes actors, often working in smaller groups on parallel story lines, have converged for scenes that feature gunshots, confrontations and an impressive display of superpowers.

[this article has lots of links]

http://www.post-gazette.com/tv/tunedin/

Tonight's episode picks up in the same spot -- after a recap to help viewers remember where the assorted plots stand -- and what comes next will have fans talking tomorrow morning. New alliances are formed, a connection between the prophesied bomb blast in New York and evil Linderman (Malcolm McDowell) is established and Sylar strikes another deadly blow.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2007/04/23/2007-04-23_puzzle_pieces_come_together_on_heroes.html
Monday night at 9, NBC
"It's time to save the world," NBC's on-air promos announced all last week. "The final five chapters of 'Heroes' begin Monday."
Well, Monday has arrived, and so has "Heroes," back after a long absence to finish its season-long story line about averting an apocalyptic disaster in New York City.
The wait has been irritating, but the first new show, presented tonight at 9, pulls you back into the narrative and propels the story forward.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/04222007/tv/heroes_101_tv_stephen_lynch.htm

April 22, 2007 -- FANS on the breakout hit "Heroes" have discovered their own superpower: Patience.
While the far-flung plot threads have had their moments of brilliance - Peter Petrelli finally flying over the skyline of New York; a sniper's bullet passing through incorporeal D.L. Hawkins - viewers have been eager to see the characters get together and act like . . . well, heroes.

'Heroes' returns: Get a video (and prose) preview here
A heads up: This preview contains several clips from Monday's new episode of "Heroes," as well as video interviews with cast members. Don't play the videos if you don't want to see (mild) spoilers.
This quote, from the closing minutes of Monday’s “Heroes” (8 p.m. Monday, WMAQ-Ch. 5), doesn’t require any spoiler alerts.
“I’m confused,” Ando (James Kyson Lee) says to his pal Hiro (Masi Oka).
I can relate. I sometimes feel a bit flummoxed when trying to figure out the relationships and connections between the various “Heroes” characters. But in the end, it’s not as though a Ph.D. in “Heroes” minutiae is necessary to enjoy the show.
Far from it. Monday’s episode is, like most of the outings from the second half of the season, is an enjoyable, fast-paced adventure ride. It is, as its creators intended it to be, a graphic novel come to life. And at this stage of the game, “Heroes” has really learned that, just as it is on the page, when it comes to an adventure tale, it’s all in the pacing. That aspect of the show was atrocious when "Heroes" began, but now the superhero-flavored stories unfold with tick-tock efficiency.

NBC has unveiled their Fall 2007 schedule and as expected, Heroes will be present with an all-new second season.

The network has also announced that during the time of a hiatus this year, Heroes will have a "spin-off" called Heroes: Origins, where a new character will be introduced each week and viewers will select which ones will be seen in Season 3. No more details about Origins have been revealed as of yet, but the combined total of episodes ordered - between 22 episodes of Heroes plus Origins - totals 30 episodes.

Hopefully NBC will explain more about what Origins actually is soon.

Heroes will remain on Monday nights at 9PM (ET). Following Heroes is a new series titled Journeyman which sounds pretty interesting, and it may be a better companion for the show than Studio 60, The Black Donnellys, or The Wedding Crashers had been.

From show creator Tim Kring:

" After the season finale of "Heroes" on Monday night, show creator Tim Kring answered fan questions on his live blog (http://blog.nbc.com/heroes/) about the upcoming six-episode spin-off "Origins" and also dropped some hints about next season:

In regards to Origins: ""The idea was to try to do about half a dozen episodes that are stand-alone episodes dealing with the origin stories of characters all around the world who are waking up with the discovery of these unique abilities. They are not connected necessarily to the show Heroes, but if you do watch or are a fan of Heroes, you'll see tiny little clues that tie into the show."

In terms of format he says that Origins will feature "cautionary tales and morality tales... they're completely stand-alone episodes that don't follow a serialized formula... one of the people on Origins may be involved on Heroes, eventually."

As for the second season? "...as you notice Volume 2 started the end of tonight's episode, but by no means does Volume 2 have to be the entire length of Season 2. In fact, don't expect it to. It will end sometime in the middle of the season, wrapping up a story with it that will allow us to launch in to a new storyline."

Talks are also underway with Christopher Eccleston, who played the invisibility-powered Claude Raines http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/483/claude2ye9.gif , to appear again next season."

Comic-Con is currently talking to the major Hollywood studios regarding presentations at this year's event. It's important to note that this part of Comic-Con programming is worked on up to the last possible minute, so expect changes and plenty of surprises.
In addition to the major motion picture studios, Comic-Con is once again talking with the major TV networks about their most popular shows appearing at this year's event. The hit TV series Heroes returns, but another Comic-Con favorite, Lost, returns in its traditional Saturday morning slot in Ballroom 20. In addition, we've just learned that SCI FI will once again feature Battlestar Galactica as part of their programming. And Comic-Con has a proud tradition of premiering brand new shows, months before they debut on TV. We did it with Lost, Heroes and Jericho. Who knows what new shows will debut this year?

Heroes returns to Comic-Con in the giant Ballroom 20 on Saturday, July 28 (time TBA).

Pittsburgh native to play Spock in new "Star Trek"
Tuesday, July 24, 2007
Rob Owen, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- E! Online is reporting what has been rumored since a Post-Gazette interview last year with Pittsburgh native Zachary Quinto: He's been cast as Spock in the new "Star Trek" movie. (He also discussed the possibility in a May podcast.)
Quinto plays the villain Sylar on NBC's "Heroes," and last week NBC Universal Television Studios president Katherine Pope told the Post-Gazette that if Quinto got the "Star Trek" job, the studio would find a way to work out schedules so he can do both. It would be a benefit to both "Heroes" and "Star Trek," so that makes sense. Quinto's been listed as the rumored actor for the Spock part on his IMDB page for some time.
Quinto's casting also makes sense in a "six degrees of separation" way. Quinto stars in "Heroes" with Greg Grunberg, who starred on "Alias," which was created by J.J. Abrams, who is producing and directing the new "Star Trek" film.

Quinto is Spock

This afternoon I left a message for Quinto, but haven't heard back. I'll be on the set of "Heroes" tomorrow and he's expected to be there. E! is reporting that Quinto's contract is "with the business affairs team at Paramount, which is generally considered the last stop on the deal-negotiation train. The deal only awaits sign-off from outside counsel."

Sylar from 'Heroes' thisclose to playing 'Star Trek's' Spock
Set phasers to stunned!

In a development sure to send nerd brains nationwide into overdrive, E!Online reporter Korbi Ghosh is reporting that Zachary Quinto, best known as the evil genius Sylar on "Heroes," is close to signing on the bottom line to be Spock in the upcoming "Star Trek" feature film.
"A source confirmed that the contract is with the business affairs team at Paramount, which is generally considered the last stop on the deal-negotiation train," according to a Monday press release from E!Online.com.
Wait! An actor from “Heroes” on “Star Trek”? The geek mind reels. Surely those eagerly awaiting Comic-Con, the giant sci-fi, film and comics convention this weekend in San Diego, are all in a tizzy over the news.
Lucky for me, I’m going to Comic-Con (for the first time, and I’m already geeking out in anticipation) and you can be sure I’ll try to shove myself into the room where the “Heroes” cast will be talking about the second season of the show. Perhaps Quinto will discuss his new gig as well, you never know.

I was on the set yesterday morning, but I couldn't get Pittsburgh native Zach Quinto to discuss his casting as Spock in the new "Star Trek" movie (with his connection to director J.J. Abrams through "Heroes" co-star Greg Grunberg -- Abrams and Grunberg are friends who worked together on "Alias" -- it seems like the stars have aligned; maybe Paramount will officially announce Quinto's casting in San Diego this weekend at Comic-Con), I did get some hints about the second season of "Heroes." Clues, more than outright spoilers, follow.

JULY 26th CHICAGO TRIBUNE TCA Report

Talking with HRG from 'Heroes'

When I spotted Jack Coleman on the “Heroes” set on Tuesday (there's more on the set visit here), I made a beeline for the actor. My favorite thing about Season 1 – aside from Hiro’s exuberance and the delights of the Hiro-and-Ando traveling roadshow – was the enigmatic H.R.G., cheerleader Claire Bennet’s mysterious father and an employee of the not-very-nice and also mysterious Company.

Live from the 'Heroes' set - with Hiro

On Tuesday, members of the Television Critics Association got to take a field trip to the set of “Heroes.”
The busload of writers was divided into two smaller groups, and we had as our guide a charming young man who cheerfully ushered us through various sets and kept us moving and laughing with various jokes and friendly directives (“Grab some water and get hydrated before we go the next set”).
Our guide? Masi Oka, who plays Hiro Nakamura on the NBC show.

No One Is Safe In 'Heroes' Season 2
Link: http://www.syfyportal.com/news424123.html
There are going to be many changes and a higher body count on "Heroes" during the upcoming second season that premieres later this month.

While in New York last week to promote the show and the first season DVD set, actors and writers from the hit NBC show leaked some tidbits about what's in store for Season 2. One thing that is certain is that their characters will find themselves in totally different situations this season.

So what will fans expect for their Heroes (and villains)?

Sylar

"I'm just trying to get some more power," said Zachary Quinto, who plays the brain-stealing Gabriel Sylar. When last seen, Sylar's body disappeared, leaving a trail of blood running into a cockroach-guarded sewer. He is certain to continue slicing the heads off heroes and acquiring more special abilities, but there are also changes ahead.

"The point at which we left the story in Season 1, and the point at which we begin in Season 2 are vastly different for my character, and for all of the characters, really," Quinto said.

Hiro and Ando

Hiro Nakamura's story will continue in 17th-century Japan, where he accidently time-traveled after impaling Sylar with his sword in the first season finale. Ando Masahashi was last seen when best friend Hiro dropped him off at his office in Yamagato Industries. From there, Ando will try to find a new way to communicate with Hiro from Tokyo.

"There's going to be an interesting channel of communication," said Ando's alter ego, James Kyson Lee. "I can't reveal what, but it's going to be such a great way of storytelling. What happens in one timeline may affect the other."

Lee also thinks Ando and Hiro will reunite in Episode 8.

In general

The first episode of the new season will be starting out "Four Months Later," showing where our Heroes are four months after the finale. In Episode 8, fans will also find out what happened "Four Months Ago."

This means new viewers will not feel left out if they missed the first season, said "Heroes" co-executive producer and writer Jeph Loeb.

"For the returning fans, Episode 8 fills in the gaps," Loeb said. "Hopefully, by that time, everyone will be into this mystery. When we get to the middle of November, everyone will be completely filled in and we'll move forward."

New characters

Maya, portrayed by Dania Ramirez (Callisto in "X-Men: The Last Stand") is a super-powered Dominican on the run from the law with her twin brother. Viewers will have to wait until the show's Sept. 24 premiere to learn what her special ability is.
"She's going north," Ramirez teased. "There's a lot of injustices she encounters in her journey up north. She's trying to get to the U.S. to figure out or find out what's happening to her. I can't tell you what it is, but it's cool. It's really cool."

More deaths

In Season 1, fans saw a number of Heroes bite the big one.

"You really want a doughnut" Eden McCain, nuclear Ted Sprague and precog-painter Isaac Mendez died along with other "special" people as well as a few major baddies. This season, the body count is only going to get higher.

"This is not a show about stars," Loeb explained. "This is a show about the show. Everyone has the same conversation when they come on. Wherever the story takes the writers and takes Tim [Kring] is what serves that task. Keeping it very unexpected is part of what our audience demands of us. If all we're doing is continuing with the same characters, then we're the same as every other show. We have a policy in the writers' room that no one is safe."

"Heroes" returns to NBC on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET starting Sept. 24.

Kristen Bell on her new character who will appear in next week's episode "Fight or Flight":

Heroes' Bell Offers Hints

Kristen Bell, who will join the cast of NBC's Heroes in the Oct. 22 episode, told reporters that her character, Elle, is duplicitous, manipulative and just "a little off."

Speaking in a conference call with reporters, Bell declined to divulge Elle's super power, but hinted that the character arrives with a link to several others, most notably Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia), whom she encounters in Ireland.

"I have been crossing my fingers in hopes that I would get a job soon where I could play someone who was, as [creator] Tim [Kring] likes to call it, 'a little off,' or perhaps didn't have the brightest and shiniest of intentions," Bell said. (She spoke along with Kring, the show's executive producer.) "And I think the depths at which they've written Elle, this character, she's so conflicted and sort of comes across as such a victim. It's so much fun to play with."

Bell, who gained fame in the title role of The CW's Veronica Mars, is one of several new characters introduced in Heroes' second season. As for Elle's interactions with the other characters, Bell said, "I have a lot of information about Peter's past. ... "

Kring added: "We introduce the character, and she is looking for Peter Petrelli. So I think one can assume that she finds him."

Asked if she could reveal anything more about Elle's power or the character's relationships with the show's familiar faces, Bell replied, "I can't reveal her secret power. You'll have to watch next Monday. But it's a very cool power. She has ties to H.R.G. [Jack Coleman] and Claire [Hayden Panettiere], and I think there's going to be a very interesting dynamic, I think, between her and Claire as far as what is and what is not. I think there's going to be a deeper relationship there than people are expecting. Or they're going to see maybe some parallels. She also has ties, a little bit, to Suresh [Sendhil Ramamurthy]."

Bell's first episode, "Fight or Flight," airs Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. (NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.) —Ian Spelling

Tim Krinng talks about the older generation of heroes, and the possible future of a few of the current ones:

Kring: More Heroes Will Appear

Sharp-eyed viewers of NBC's Heroes may have noticed several familiar faces in the group photo glimpsed in last week's episode, "The Kindness of Strangers," and creator Tim Kring promised that they will soon show up.

"We will be seeing the people ... in the photo," Kring confirmed during an Oct. 16 conference call with reporters. "I think all of them will be [played by the actors in the photo]. I just have to tell you, the photo has got a life of its own, because, logistically, it was so difficult to actually come up with this photograph that's used now and refers to things that are shot well in the future here. It was very difficult to get that all lined up. But, yes, the photo is as accurate as we can make it."

The photo depicted a character who appeared to be played by Joanna Cassidy (Blade Runner, Six Feet Under). Kring wouldn't confirm her casting, but said: "It did look an awful lot like Joanna Cassidy in there."

Another new character in the photo is the father of Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), and it's the elder Parkman who's the boogeyman in Molly's (Adair Tischler) nightmares.

The photo also featured the by-now familiar faces of Daniel Linderman (Malcolm McDowell), Charles Deveaux (Richard Roundtree), Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), Bob (Stephen Tobolowsky) and Kaito Nakamura (George Takei).

With the addition of several new characters so far this season—including Kristen Bell's Elle, who shows up next week—Kring admitted that some characters—even major ones—may not appear in every episode. And some characters will die—perhaps even permanently, Kring acknowledged.

"Yes, on a show like this, you have to be able to fold people in and fold people out," Kring said. "So the audience should fully expect to see characters leaving in the near future." —Ian Spelling

NBC holds 'Heroes' spinoff
Possible strike might have influenced decision

By JOSEF ADALIANNBC is putting the kibosh on "Heroes: Origins" -- and the possibility of a strike may have contributed to the decision.
Net has indefinitely shelved production on the planned six-episode spinoff of its Monday hit. Skein was set to unfurl next year while "Heroes" was on hiatus.

Now NBC has decided to not move forward with the production, at least for now.

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere violently clashed with Japanese fishermen as she tried to save dolphins from slaughter. The 18-year-old actress disrupted an annual dolphin hunt by intercepting a fishing boat - and was almost struck by its boat hook. She says, "It was really frightening. Some of us were hit by the boat hook. But in the end all we really worried about was the dolphins. It was so incredibly sad. We were so close to them and they were sky hopping, jumping out of the water to see us. One little baby dolphin stuck his head out and kinda looked at me and the thought that it's no longer with us is really hard to take." Panettiere and five other surfers from the U.S. and Australia were almost arrested after paddling out to see to stage a protest, but left the country following the incident.

Got this from IMDB and all I have to say is wow. Last thing I would ever expect to read about her. Have to say I am pleasantly surprise she'd risk it trying to save dolphins.

Mad props to her. :D I've dedicated my life to animals, and to marine mammals as much as possible. And to tell the truth, some of the animal rights activists out there are so over-the-top that they freak me out. But those slaughters in Japa are horrid. I don't know that I should post a link here because the footage is very graphic. But Google around a bit and look for video on the Taiji dolphins if you really want to be informed. Coming from the point of view of someone who's worked with those animals personally, seeing how they're killed is like a kick to the gut. :(

Oh, that's nothing. Have you heard the latest news? Apparently production on Heroes, itself, has shut down. They were in the middle of shooting eps 13 & 14 and were asked to re-shoot ep 11 as a season-ender. Linkage (http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/41610241/m/20010238?r=20010238#20010238)

Keep in mind I don't know just how reliable the info is. Fredfa of the AVS Forum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=34) says he's "always reliable" but while I consider Fred reliable, I don't know anything about Travis, myself. I'll be skimming headlines with interest, though, to see if this pans out or if it's just part of the mass hysteria likely to ensue from the strike.

EDIT: Meanwhile, Kristin from E!Online (http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=dcc84c3f-fa04-4fca-890e-8dba4a5dd7ba&sid=fd-hot1-txt) doesn't seem too worried:

Heroes also might not have it quite so bad. This year, producers decided to break up the season into "volumes," and the first volume is set to come to an end the first week of December. It's likely that the wait for the second volume would simply extend until after the strike is over, so at least fans would have a natural break in the storyline.

The rumors will probably be more exciting than the reality. ;)

Probably won't get shutdown news until the strike actually starts. Most shows have enough in the can to make it through November sweeps, but after that.... who knows? The spinoff ("Heroes: Origins") got yanked before it even got started, so whether it is brought back to life is anybody's guess.

Meanwhile, just got a red ding for posting news links here. Guess there are some anti-Heroes fans here ;).

Found this interesting:

Tim Kring Owns Up To 'Heroes' Mistakes

Not very thrilled with how "Heroes" is going so far in its second season? Well, apparently series creator Tim Kring isn't as well, and he's taking the time to tell fans that he's sorry.

Kring recently shared those comments with Entertainment Weekly taking the blame for a 15 percent ratings drop from last year, and complaints from critics and fans alike about how the show has progressed so far in its "Generations" chapter. And he wants to make it up by promising to correct it by the time "Heroes" comes back with some new episodes in coming weeks including more focus on the main stars, returning cliffhangers at the end of episodes, and re-energizing the story.

"We assumed the audience wanted Season 1 -- a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers," Kring said about the new additions to the cast. "We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake."

In the second season, Kring admitted that they took far too long to get to the overall story. Peter Petrelli has a vision of a viral Armageddon by the seventh episode, where the nuclear explosion in the first season was featured in the very first episode.

There also were a lot of mistakes about sending Hiro to Japan for so long, and giving him a love interest.

"We didn't give the audience enough story to justify the time we allotted it," Kring said. "I've seen more convincing romances on TV. In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us."

With the season likely ending with the finale of the "Generations" chapter on Dec. 3, Kring said when the show returns to production following the writers strike, he intends to reboot the series and hopefully win back many of the viewers who decided to find something else to do on Monday nights.

"The message is that we've heard the complaints -- and we're doing something about it."

'Heroes' Creator: "Sorry This Season Is a Flop"
The creator of hit TV show Heroes has issued a humbled apology to U.S. fans for a disappointing start to the second season. The superhero show, starring Hayden Panettiere and Masi Oka, was the top-rated new drama in the U.S. last year. But audience figures have taken a dip - with one recent episode placed 30th in the overall ratings. And creator Tim Kring admits his choice of storylines were a mistake. He tells magazine Entertainment Weekly, "We assumed the audience wanted season one - a build up of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake - we took too long to get to the big-picture story." Referring to the recent romantic plotlines, he adds, "In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us."

How about instead of traveling across the world to try to save dolphins, you try to save HUMAN BEINGS.

Come on. Everybody spends so much time trying to save animals when there are millions upon millions of people on the earth suffering and dying. I guess it's cool to save the animals, but not the people.

I'm tired of hearing about this crap. I don't spend ANY time trying to save animals or people, but if I had to choose one, I'd choose people.

Should she be in Iraq facing armed Taliban rapists then?
Or giving money to feed children of a crack addict that will only spend the money on drugs?

I mean, what would you have her do?

IMO, she saw an opportunity to save some highly sentient beings (not quite as noble as humans, I grant you), and she ran with it.

Heroes has been trashed. ;)

Yes, you read it here first. Heroes, or rather, stylized photos from the show, adorn lots of trash cans in Grand Central Station in New York City. I recently went in to the city to see Amanda Tapping at a signing and I was barely off the train when, hey, there's a Heroes trash can, and more were scattered around. And the NBC Entertainment Store is really pushing HEroes merchandise.

Panettiere argues with 'Heroes' worker
Saturday, January 31 2009, 12:05 GMT

By Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter

Hayden Panettiere ranted at a Heroes crew member after he used a lawn-blower to scare away birds on set, a report claims.

According to BANG Showbiz, the worker attempted to blast the creatures when they disrupted filming, resulting in a furious reaction from the 19-year-old actress, who plays Claire Bennet.

In the ensuing argument, Panettiere is quoted as saying: "What are you doing? How would you like someone to blow that thing inside your house?"

The row reportedly occurred after the birds flew in front of the camera as cast and crew filmed outdoor scenes for the hit NBC show. It is claimed that the director decided to move the scene to a new location in the aftermath of the incident.

Panettiere is a keen animal rights activist and has previously made headlines by attempting to rescue dolphins before a slaughter in Japan.

Jack Coleman: The Company Man

Noah Bennet, otherwise known as HRG (‘horn rimmed glasses’), is definitely one of Heroes’ most fascinating characters. A lot of that is down to Jack Coleman’s terrific performance, with the actor subtly managing to subvert his wholesome looks and calm demeanor to give the character an extra cold-blooded menace. “I think there’s been an evolution in his soul,” he tells Abbie Bernstein.

Across the course of Season Three, we’ve seen many characters go from light to dark and from dark to light. But it seems like HRG has been about as grey as can be…

I don’t think we’re going to see necessarily a darker side of him, because I think you’ve already seen a pretty dark side. I think what you will see is different elements of that dark side. HRG’s a pretty Machiavellian character. And as the ends justify the means, you will see him do some stuff which is not only dark, but a kind of dark we really haven’t seen from him before. You’ll just see him in a manner that is not necessarily darker than you’ve seen, but different and a little bone chilling.

Did you know what HRG was up to when you got the role?

When I started out, I wasn’t a series regular. I didn’t know anything about the Company, I asked Tim Kring, “Am I FBI, am I CIA?” He said, “No!” And there’s a little joke about that, I think it was in episode four, where my character says to Matt Parkman, “I’m not part of any organisation which has initials.” Which is kind of funny coming from a guy who’s known as HRG!

The point was, I didn’t really know who I worked for, and I assumed it was government. I soon found out after the pilot that it was not government. So I went from there.

Are the menacing aspects of HRG something you’ve had to work on?

What’s interesting is that, because I have sort of an all-American boy-next-door look, I’ve always known that playing a bad guy, playing against type, was something that would really work for me. In real life, I kind of have a dark edge if I want it – it’s there, even though I’m not necessarily a dark personality.

I’m much more a nervous, neurotic character personally than HRG is. This guy is very still, but I wanted you to see through the glasses that there was always something going on, even though you didn’t necessarily see it in his body language. So yes, it was written that way, they shoot it that way, and I just got a chance to do something which is against type, and that’s always a fun thing to do.

HRG has displayed some caution in dealing with certain characters before. At this point, are there still people he’d rather not mess with, or is he just taking on everyone?

When he was messing with Nathan Petrelli, that was strictly under Company orders. [Season Three had] an episode where we go back in time a little bit. You see HRG as the Company Man, a guy who was a true believer and determined to do his job and do it right. You see him reading the riot act to Elle about how you’re supposed to behave as an agent and all this kind of stuff, and it’s not until a little further down the pike that you see how, once he realised that they were going to take Claire, and Claire was now going to be a guinea pig for the Company, that’s when everything turned.

So, yes, there are definitely people that HRG would prefer not to screw with, but there’s nobody that he won’t screw with, I think, if he feels that he needs to protect either himself or his family.

Does that adjustment to his philosophy make him more fun to play, or do you feel he’s more of a badass?

The adjustment to the philosophy is, when he came to the Company, he was a true believer. He was the perfect recruit and he didn’t question orders, he didn’t question the larger meaning or aims behind what the Company was doing. He just said, “This is my job and I’m going to do it.” And then I think what the adjustment has been is, “Oh, maybe this isn’t so good after all.” The thing that’s great about playing that is the real evolution of thought, of action. I think there’s been an evolution in his soul.

But the thing that’s also cool is that there is an element of violence and there’s an element of cold-bloodedness in him that can resurface at any moment. So even when he does the right thing, he’s perfectly capable of doing it the wrong way or doing the right thing and then following it up immediately by doing something heinous. So that’s what’s really fun to play - I’m never locked into one way of operating or one way of thinking.

Is there anything you’ve gotten to do this season that you’ve been particularly excited about?

Well, partnering with Sylar was really cool. That was very unexpected and a little bit of a tough adjustment after going through episode two and trying to kill him in episode three, but having to temporarily cooperate with him was pretty cool. Also, I’ve got some really great stuff with Claire: father and daughter grouped together, that’s kind of battle testing!

Now that Sylar is apparently immortal, is HRG rethinking how he approaches him?

There are ways of killing [immortal characters]. When Claire had that piece of wood in her cerebral cortex, she was dead. Peter Petrelli was dead when he had that shard of glass in him. So if you hit the right spot, if you hit the sweet spot, you can kill them.

But HRG might want to start rethinking his battle tactics with Sylar. (laughs). And I do, as it goes along. Probably not successfully, but at least there’s a shift in tactics. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing each time, expecting a different result.

Panettiere 'splits from co-star Ventimiglia'
Tuesday, February 17 2009, 09:22 GMT

By Lara Martin

Hayden Panettiere has reportedly split from her Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia.

According to Us Weekly, the actors decided to part ways because of their clashing styles of living.

"It was a lifestyle conflict," said an unnamed source. "They were in very different places.

"They're still on friendly terms. There are no hard feelings."

Ventimiglia, who plays Peter Petrelli, confirmed that he was dating Panettiere (Claire Bennet) during an appearance on BBC Radio 1's The Chris Moyles Show in April 2008.

"[Hayden] is young. She likes to go out in the Hollywood scene and that's not his style," added the insider, who said that Ventimiglia had been busy "concentrating on work" at his production company Divide Pictures.

Representatives for the couple have yet to comment.

'Heroes: Fugitives' - The Verdict
Monday, February 23 2009, 21:46 GMT

By Ben Rawson-Jones, Cult Editor

Primatech wasn't the only thing that went up in flames at the end of the previous 'Villains' chapter in Heroes. It appears that much of the storyline planning was razed to the ground as well, with the series undergoing yet another reboot to address falling viewing figures. Apart from one glorious final scene though, there's little to suggest that the opening episode of 'Fugitives' will send ratings soaring.

It seems as if Heroes showrunner Tim Kring is constantly reacting towards the criticism of the previous chapter beginnings. Volume Two rightly received stick for being slow and meditative, then Volume Three came along and was unfairly slammed for being frenzied and action-packed, and now 'Fugitives' appears to be an uneasy mix of new and old, largely failing to merge an unravelling story and action in a successful manner.

The decision to start from scratch is arguably annoying to those who have invested their time and patience in Heroes, as plenty of narrative strands from 'Villains' have been unceremoniously dumped. Peter is now a paramedic, Mohinder a cabbie and Daphne and Matt (or 'Daphtt') are shacked up together. Fortunately they don't potter around enjoying their newfound status for too long before Nathan Petrelli's swat team capture them, although it does feel a lot longer due to the languid pacing.

'Fugitives' also moves backwards in a bid to do some crowdpleasing, with Noah Bennet resuming his ambiguous baddie role from the first season and Sylar regressing to the menacing murderer in search of a parent (this time his daddy). At one stage Claire remarks: "I know he's out there, I can feel it in my gut". Perhaps her stomach has a serious sense of déjà-vu, like much of the viewers. Still, while falling back on old hits might not bode well for the new material, these tried and tested characters are always compelling to watch.

For the most part though, the plot plods along with the capture of the 'heroes' lacking in any visual or dramatic impact, although Bennet snaring Mohinder in a car park is fairly well done. The interaction between Hiro and Ando, which used to offer a nice tonal balance to the darker story elements, has now gone from amusing to annoying. It's about time Ando turned against his pal, as it's been plenty of time since we saw Hiro's shocking glimpse into the future in which Ando attacked him.

Just when hopes in 'Fugitives' were fading, out pops a stunning reminder that Heroes is still capable of delivering stylish, spectacular sequences that transcend the confines of mere television. The attempted 'breakout' on the plane by the heroes, lavishly shot in slow-motion and bathed in emotive music, plunges us into the tense environment of the characters as they cling on for dear life. As the plane plummets to the ground the dreaded 'To Be Continued...' flashes up, and the great cliffhanger makes us crave its resolution.

It's like sitting through a stale football match, which is 0-0 and petering out into a drab draw until a stunning 30 yard volley hits the back of the net in the 87th minute. No prizes for guessing what will be the main talking point once the final whistle blows. One moment of genius has the power to salvage a great deal.

Perhaps Heroes just needs to adopt the Lost and Battlestar Galactica strategy and announce a fixed end date in perhaps 2011. This could give the show some added focus and fully develop the various characters and plotlines towards a satisfying conclusion, rather than this frustrating chopping and changing that leaves hardly anyone satisfied. It's about time Heroes had faith in its own superpowers.

Heroes News Round-up: New Web Series, Writers Fired, Budget Cutbacks

Let’s start with the positive stuff first. TubeFilter has news that NBC is prepping a new web series for April of this year, which would make it the fourth series so far. The new series would focus on the villain Eric Doyle (played by David H. Lawrence).

The series is in post-production with David H. Lawrence, who plays Eric Doyle on the network series, said to star along with a few other actors crossing over from the main narrative. The web series will pick up where the show leaves off in April on the life of Eric Doyle, the Heroes marionette character.

The last time we saw Doyle, he was seen getting his comeuppance at the hands of Sylar. This would be a prequel, then?

Meanwhile, some more bad news from behind-the-scenes of Heroes. Yesterday I got this email from Isa, saying that one of the show’s writers, Chris Zatta, has been let go due to “downsizing”. Apparently Zatta isn’t the only one, but he doesn’t mention who else were “let go”. Among Zatta’s works on the show were the episodes “Cold Wars”, “Dying of the Light”, and “Parasite”.

Here’s the full letter:

Greetings all,

I just got this message from Chris Zatta, one of the Heroic League of Scribblers, i.e. the Heroes writers. It’s not good. I think it’s time for the fandom to step up and make our displeasure known.

Hey Isa,

Regarding next season, I haven’t heard anything official from NBC either. But the writers have been moving forward with the idea that there will be a Season 4. Hopefully NBC will announce something to confirm it sooner rather than later.

On another point, I am sad to say that I am no longer with Heroes. NBC decided to cut back on the budget for the show and part of that plan involved downsizing on the lower level writers. It’s been wonderful emailing with you this season and hearing the fan reactions, but I will have to put you in touch with someone else on the show for now.

I think it’s time to start thinking about a contingency plan for if NBC announces cancellation. Because I, for one, will not let this show go down without a fight.

Thoughts?

In Service,
~Isa

Is Heroes Ending? Greg Grunberg Creates Online Frenzy

Greg Grunberg plays a mind-reading ex-cop on Heroes, but some overeager fans may have worked themselves into an unnecessary frenzy by trying to read the actor's mind.

Grunberg sent a message to fans via his Twitter account Sunday that caused many to fear the show was ending after its current season. "Winding down shooting Season 3 Heroes," he wrote. "Tough to say goodbye to crew not knowing if any or all of us will return next year. Hope all."

The firestorm the comments caused quickly earned a response from Grunberg, who qualified his remarks. "Don't get me wrong, Heroes IS coming back next year, but some crew take other jobs, so it's tough," he wrote.

The fans concern about Grunberg's comments isn't without reason. The series earned critical praise and rabid fan adoration during its first seasons, but has very publicly floundered — both creatively and in viewership — ever since. It hit an all-time series low of just below 7 million viewers a week ago, a number it matched with Monday's episode.

An NBC spokesperson had no comment on Grunberg's statements, but Angela Bromstad, NBC's president of primetime entertainment, said the show was "very secure" during the Television Critics Association winter press tour in January. No official renewal has been announced.

Larter: 'Heroes' axe would be terrible
Wednesday, March 4 2009, 11:11 GMT

By Lara Martin

Ali Larter has admitted that she would be devastated if Heroes was cancelled.

The actress, who plays Tracy Strauss on the NBC show, told E! News that she was trying to remain positive that the drama would be renewed for a fourth season.

"[Cancellation] would be terrible in my book. The cast just loves the show," she said. "If the network doesn't want to bring us back I'll be really sad, but you know what, I just can't even go there.

"I think that the show was so strong first season, and we'll come back and get it back to where it should be."

Co-star Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkson) fuelled speculation that the programme could be axed after posting a message on his Twitter account, reading: "Tough to say goodbye to crew not knowing if any or all of us will return next year."

His message prompted Larter to respond with her own, saying: "Greg is a Twitter. Tell him to shush!" Grunberg later backtracked on his original statement, assuring fans that the show would be returning.

NBC has until mid-May to decide on its new season lineup.

NBC's Heroes Will Fly Again, but Knight Rider Is Out of Gas

Some of this TV season's "bubble shows" are starting to pop, while others continue to ride the fence — or even safely hop off.

Case in point: Despite sagging ratings and amid backstage upheavals, Heroes will fight another day. The Peacock's onetime pride and joy is likely to return in the fall for 18 to 20 episodes, NBC entertainment president Angela Bromstad told the Hollywood Reporter, though an actual pick-up order has yet to be placed.

One thing playing in Heroes' favor is that it performs well for NBC overseas. "Every single place you go has heard about Heroes — whether you're in China or Japan or Russia," Bromstad notes. (Are Peter and Nathan subtitled when Heroes plays in Tokyo? Discuss.)

Heroes could be paired on Mondays with Day One, a serialized drama pilot about the survivors of a catastrophic event.

On the other hand, Knight Rider will not be returning for another spin in the fall, sources tell TVGuide.com. The reboot of 1980s series drew just 5.76 million viewers with its Wednesday-night finale, a 21 percent drop-off from its September premiere. And this despite some retooling along the way.

An NBC rep had no comment on KITT's rumored garaging.

'Heroes' gets renewed for season 4

Heroes will return to fight another day. NBC's entertainment president, Angela Bromstad, told The Hollywood Reporter that the network plans to order 18-20 episodes for next season, the show's fourth. The announcement erases concerns that the action series, which has failed to recapture its season 1 buzz or ratings, might be canceled. So far this season, Heroes ranks 56th in the Nielsen ratings, but is tied with The Office as the network's top-rated series among adults 18-49.

Heroes to get fixed end date??

The article (about the season 4 renewal) also mentions that NBC may be considering an end date for the show ala Lost, where the show would be guaranteed a set number of seasons before it wraps up with a final year, thus allowing the producers and writers to move toward that end game in their storyline. If they do decide to go this route, the article says that this upcoming fourth season would not be that end date. This means the show would be guaranteed additional seasons beyond number four.

Panettiere denies wanting Ventimiglia fired
Friday, March 13 2009, 12:14 GMT

By Lara Martin, Entertainment Reporter

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere has denied claims that she attempted to get ex-boyfriend Milo Ventimiglia axed from the NBC show.

The actress, who plays Claire Bennet, was reported to have wanted Ventimiglia, who portrays her on-screen uncle Peter Petrelli, kicked off the drama following their split last month.

However, speaking to OK!, the 19-year-old dismissed the rumours, saying: "Milo and I are very close. We have enjoyed and continue to enjoy working together."

Meanwhile, show creator Tim Kring has assured fans that the relationship between Panettiere and Ventimiglia would not affect how he developed storylines for the rest of the season.

"The final decision about which characters live and die on Heroes rests with me," he insisted. "I've made no announcement yet as to who will return and who won't."

Two 'Heroes' stars land pilots
Tuesday, March 17 2009, 09:39 GMT

Heroes stars Nick D'Agosto and Noah Gray-Cabey are each cast in new pilots.

D'Agosto - best known for his role as West Rosen - will star in NBC's untitled Justin Adler comedy alongside former Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum.

The project, which revolves around a grown-up family, will see D'Agosto star as the youngest sibling who brings his girlfriend to meet his parents.

Gray-Cabey, Heroes' Micah, is cast in ABC's performance-arts drama Limelight, which centres on teachers and students at a New York performing arts academy.

He will be joining Oded Fehr, Kyle Riabko and Jessy Schram for the soap pilot.

'Heroes' exclusive: HRG speaks!

It's been a tough couple of years for Heroes. After a phenomenally successful first season, its shortened second year came in for criticism for being slowly paced. The current season has been panned for the opposite reasons, after a series of complicated and punchy plotlines left many a viewer confused. But in recent episodes, with season one writer Bryan Fuller back on board, its fortunes have begun to turn. I caught up with Jack Coleman - aka goodie-baddie Noah Bennet/HRG - at last weekend's Memorabilia convention in Birmingham to get the inside scoop.

TV’s Biggest Moneymaking shows according to Forbes and TNS has Heroes making more than House

Forbes ran a story a couple of days ago that ranked which shows make the most money solely based on advertising spending estimates from TNS at the end of January. Some of the results will surprise you (and me). It has 24 leading the pack, and Heroes, Survivor, CSI, Extreme Makeover, and Worst Week (yes, that Worst Week) all ahead of House, even though House has the much better demo numbers of all of those shows (even 24!).

Based on the estimated cost per 30 second advertising spot, they came up with revenue per 30 minutes so that 30 minute shows could be easily compared.
While the article does go into some disclaiming the truth of it is you can concoct these sorts of lists with estimates any way you want, and come up with rankings. Because there is no way to quantify or validate the numbers because the networks aren’t going to release any of the actual results.

Although I think it’s a certainty that House is making more on advertising revenue for 30 second spots than Heroes is (or was, even on January 31), it’s not really different than Jeff Zucker talking about how well NBC manages the margins. Because we’ll never actually know! We won’t wind up seeing any data about how well the broadcast network manages margins. You will never see anything but rough estimates since it is grouped within NBC Universal in any of GE’s reporting.

I don’t fault Forbes or TNS, but like horoscopes, it is the sort of thing that should probably be used for entertainment purposes only.

Bryan Fuller talks 'Heroes' return, finale

Is Bryan Fuller the saviour of Heroes? Coming off two seasons of oft-derided storylines and dwindling ratings, the show was handed a lifeline when Fuller's own series - the acclaimed Pushing Daisies - was cancelled by ABC, allowing the exec to resume his Heroes writing duties. But how do you turn around such a large ship? We called up Bryan to get an insight into the show's woes.

Director Producer Greg Beeman Let Go by NBC!?

Heroes Producer/Director Greg Beeman has just announced that he has been let go by NBC for financial reasons. This is of course is not a shocking move as lower ratings have led to less revenue for the show.

However, Beeman is a great director and was very accessible online having his own weekly BTS Heroes Blog. This is sad news and hopefully we do not see too many more folks let go.

Below is a little note from Beeman on his last Heroes Blog, usually we repost the blog and pictures here, but please visit his blog to read the whole post and show your support. In the blog he does say his good byes to the cast and crew

Turns out that I don't get the package with G4 in it, so no repeats for me :(
But there's still hope to catch up on the eps on Hulu.

I just need to know what was the episode where Sylar went to meet his father. Does anyone know that?

'Heroes' star 'would love to direct'

Adrian Pasdar has revealed that he would love the opportunity to direct an episode of Heroes.

The actor, who plays Nathan Petrelli in the sci-fi series, told the official Heroes magazine that he would be "thrilled" to jump behind the camera.

"If we can make it work in the not too distant future, I'd be more than thrilled to jump in and direct," he said.

"These people are now my friends as well as my peers, so I'd just love to work with them in a directorial capacity. I understand this show well and have a great respect for the people I work with. I'd love the opportunity to be on that side of the camera and work with them in that way."

Holding out for a Heroes

British Heroes fans could be waiting until 2010 for the new series - while US viewers get to watch it in September.

Back in July, BBC Head of HD Danielle Nagler unveiled BBC HD's slate of upcoming shows on the Corporation's Internet Blog - noting that season four of the superhero drama "should be in October." That would fit with the previous series - the BBC has made a commendable effort in the past to ensure that new episodes would be broadcast within a few weeks of their US transmission, and the series will be kicking off in the US on September 21.

However, two different sources at the BBC told Wotsat that the show would be airing "next year," and that "No decision has yet been taken" on the UK transmission date. The series website, meanwhile, carries a tantalising "coming soon" message.

Given that channels like Sky1 and Sci-Fi have been moving towards airing US shows including Fringe and Dollhouse as soon as possible after their American premieres, delaying the series launch seems a curiously retrograde step - especially since Heroes viewers are exactly the sort of demographic who know how to source their TV viewing through techniques of, er, dubious legality.

Heroes leads TV Show DVD Sales, Supernatural strong for week ending 9/6

Heroes was the top TV show DVD seller for the week ending September 6, 2009, selling 296,170 units and earning an estimated $11.1 million in revenue its first week. In unit totals, that’s down from season two’s DVD set which soled 391,899 units and had estimated sales, but because season 3 had a full allotment of episodes versus season two’s strike shortened version, it costs more. That may have contributed to a decrease in unit sales, but it actually pumped up the revenue figures for this year. Last year’s first week had less revenue — $9.8 million –even though it sold more units.

Oka: 'Heroes deserves proper ending'

Masi Oka has claimed that Heroes should not end after season four.

The future of the show has been in doubt following the recent decline in its ratings. The last episode, which aired Monday, January 18, managed just 3.93m - a new low for the series.

However, speaking to TV Guide, the actor - Hiro Nakamura on the NBC series - said that the show "deserves a proper ending" and should not be axed.

"I haven't gotten any word on a renewal, but everyone agrees the show does deserve a proper ending, just because we want to pay homage to fans who have stuck with us from the beginning," he said.

"Nothing is 100% guaranteed in television. Maybe they get amazing pilots. Hopefully it won't be like the X-Files where we need a movie to wrap things up.

"My hope is to have a finite end date, like Lost, or they give the writers the chance to wrap up everything and know they're going to be done."

Grunberg blames NBC for 'Heroes' drop

Greg Grunberg has blamed NBC for the recent drop in ratings for Heroes.

Since the series launched in 2006, it has achieved figures as high as 16.97m. However, the latest episode pulled in just 3.93m viewers, representing a new low for the show.

Speaking exclusively to DS, Grunberg suggested that the show's timeslot, combined with NBC's lack of advertising, are the cause of its plummeting ratings.

"I think NBC altogether has had a problem holding the audience," he said. "They used to be the number one network, and it was easy to launch off another show.

"They moved us around, time-wise, to 8pm, but I don't think we're an 8pm show, we're a 9pm show. Now we're back to 9pm but they didn't let anyone know they were doing that - literally, no-one knew!"

He added that the Peacock network has "much bigger problems than just the dip in the ratings for Heroes" and claimed that the series is "in a good position" to be renewed.

I agree that NBC is the problem, its hardly advertised on TV and it is in a difficult time slot (at least for me, I have to watch it on Hulu now because of class). I will be very angry if there is not a Season 5, i'm tired of my favorite shows being cancelled.

I totally agree. We, at the very least, need one more season. So things can be wrapped up at least to some extent.

A fair few tv actors shot movies between seasons, so if Heroes dose get a pick, i doubt it will have much of an effect.

'Heroes,' NBC Sued Over Carnival Storyline

A comic book creator has filed a lawsuit against NBC and the "Heroes" production team claiming the carnival story arc in the fourth season was ripped off from a comic series published in 2005-06.

Jason Barnes, who created the series "Carnival of Souls" under the name Jazan Wild, is seeking $60 million and an injunction against NBC's distribution companies and "Heroes" creator Tim Kring's production company Tailwind Productions, claiming that the settings and storylines between "Carnival of Souls" and the fourth season of "Heroes" are "virtually the same," according to Comic Book Resources.

Last post in this thread was in 2010, so not many will likely read this. But aparently MSN is in talks to bring back Heroes for a 5th season as part of Micrsoft's push to bring original content (bringing back an old show is original?) to the Xbox. If it moves forward it will have a whole new cast with cameo appearences by previous character's.
