Also the flagship doesnt have to be the most powerfull, it has to be the most important..
ok i was originally thinking bout 900-1000m long, i would have liked it to a bit bigger lol but 1 km is a reasonable and realistic size and it would fit in with the rest of the fleet seeing as all our ships would have to be comparatively bigger if we had 2km flagships...

but i think in general the flagship of the entire fleet is also generally speaking the most powerful or of the most powerful design not always the case but generally i see flagships as deterrents designed to be big scarey and intimidate potential enemies...

but yeah seeing as i've got the size sorted out i can start to scale things properly

what did you think of the wandering wolf?

thanks yeah it was a bit rough looking, but i saw no point tidying it up seeing as it's a prate ship lol, and i couldn't find a decent texture ...

we've got a lot of fighter designs, hopefully this level of interest will continue!

As to the Ori, priors, adria, ships etc..i really was just doing what needed to be done, the ancients solving everything with the asgard seemed the best course, without us having to actually find a way to defeat the Ori on our which would take a whole lot of backstory. that i dont have time to make up.
Well, I do have the time. Would you like me to write the story?

The main pod could be gate-able, but if they cant gate to a location then then can opt to use the hyperspace drive instead. Also turrent rail guns are pretty solid format in 2040 so you could at thoe and take the lasers away..
The hyperspace ring would be too much like star wars. Plus, the rings that some of the fighters used would be targeted by the capital ships and be destroyed so the fighters couldn't leave and would be destroyed. I'mm thinking of making it into a long range scout/heavy fighter capable of staying away from base or ship for weeks and setting up ambushes and deep attacks.

I am also going to rewrite some of your story and add bits and pieces to it tonight. Hope it will be up. It will be base around immoteps and will include climate change still some degree. We will still be united, and their will a what i will probable self defence pack between all nations on earth. In 2040 polictics will be very different. And I will explain why, countries like iran and north korea got access to the technology.I will try to go through it as detail as I can.

May be we could have a vote on which story to to adopt.

Like It. just 1 problem, 4 staff cannons and 6 missiles on a craft smaller than a F-16 seems a bit over kill. Maybe 2 staff cannons would be better. Also if it's a gate fighter , maybe the ability to carry bombs and FFAR pods wouldn't be a bad idea.
But other wise , for your first post, you get the thumbs up. It would be interestring to know how they were controled though?

and maybe voting for back stories wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks, it was supposed to carry the same bomb load as the other design, but it was after 11:00 PM when I posted and I forgot to include it.

                    What are FFAR pods?

Rocket Pods, the rocket fits in a tube and then after it is fired the rocket deploys fins.

                      Folding Fin Aerial Rockets

kind a crude weapon for stargate. Just use a rail gun, much more effective.

                        How the Phoenix came about
                        Spoiler:
Juan Max Adams was a rich businessman, an honest man, a man you can trust. After the Stargate program became public knowledge, Juan expanded his business "Adams Industries" out of the restraints of Earth and into the Galaxy. He began to trade in Naquada and Weapons-grade Naquada, making a large clientele; he was even approached by the Lucian Alliance, who Juan turned down.
Slowly over many years, Juan began to increase his trading partners and began to increase his fleet of cargo ships; including many converted cargo and transport ships which were fitted with heavier armour and weapons constructed to protect his assets.

During a routine cargo transport run, his ships picked up a distress message originating from a few ships. Juan and a few of his heavy cargo ship and transport ships set out to help the distressed ships. Upon arrival they discovered the ships to be two Asgard ships which were under heavy fire by pirates, Juan immediately began an assault against the pirates, protecting the two Asgard ships which had suffered sever damage. Juan and his ships successfully protected the Asgard until the pirates retreated and fled. In the process Juan’s flag ship, the October was destroyed, luckily the October’s crew were saved by the Asgard. After the pirates fled, Juan offered to escort the Asgard to a rendezvous point designated by the Asgard. Juan later discovered that the two Asgard ships had be transporting members of the Asgard council to a negotiation.

In exchange for Juan’s help, the Asgard constructed a brand-new flag ship for him, an armoured cargo freighter; Juan thanked the Asgard and left with his new gift, which he named the Titan. Upon arrival at Juan’s compound, his team of scientists and engineers began work on modifying the Titan, increasing the weapons capability, altering the Asgard systems to allow more adaptation with Tau’ri designed systems. With the help of a few Asgard technicians working with his company, he developed the Phoenix.

This is an update on my fighter designs, models still need fine tuning, though.

Name: UMSF (unmanned space fighter) Jackal
Role: Defense of ships and planets and strike craft

                            Height: 6’ 11”
                            Length: 31.5’
                            Wingspan: 30’
Armament: 12 (6 on each side) 3” diameter K-naquadah missiles each with a variable-yield warhead capable of going as high as one-kiloton
                            6 human built staff cannons
                            2 Mark-3 nukes

                            Power plant: Mark-1 naquadah generator
Engines: two small, gravity drives, 8 small maneuvering thrusters
Small short-range hyperdrive (capable of short bursts of a few billions miles {a short distance by space standards})

                            Shields: low-powered human designed shields

Alternate design: UMGF (unmanned gate fighter) Gate Jackal
Gate capable fighter for the defense of ships and planets and strike craft
                            Height: 6’ 11”
                            Length: 31.5’
Wingspan: 10’ (or just skinny enough to fit through the stargate.)
                            Armament: 2 K-naq missiles
                            2 human built staff cannons
2 Mark-3 nukes or equivalent load

                            Power plant: Mark-1 naquadah generator
Engines: two small, gravity drives, 8 small maneuvering thrusters
                            Shields: low-powered human designed shields

The jackals identify threats by the same friend-or-foe indicting radar systems as every other ship. The controlling vessel gets the final say on who is friend or foe, though. If a neutral vessel fires upon the fighter, it will take evasive action but will not fire until told to do so. While in range of the control source, i.e. the ship or planet that owns them, the fighters communicate with the control and other fighters via direct laser. For distances, the fighters communicate with control via alternating, encrypted, subspace channels.

During a battle communication and information are vital, so the Jackals are connected together by network. This network allows all the fighters to know what is happening instantly. The network also improves efficiency. Fighters that are actively fighting have less spare processing power then a fighter that is searching for a target to engage. Therefore, tasks such as coordinating attacks and getting firing solutions are given to fighters that have the freest processing space. Processing can even be sent to the control ship’s computer if need be.

The targeting computer in an individual Jackal is capable of tracking about 5,000 different objects perfectly, more if multiple fighters coordinate together. The targeting system on the Jackals allows them to plot the enemy’s fire and then the computer calculates course corrections to avoid the fire and moves accordingly. The targeting system also allows for extremely good accurately, capable of shooting down multiple missiles at a time.

The human built staff cannons remove the need of ammo storage and prevents the risk of running out of ammo during battle. The K-naq missiles are designed anti-fighter and ship roles as well as taking out ground targets with their variable-yields able to change mid-flight.

Gate Jackals are designed for air support for gate expeditions and for defense of remote colonies or other worlds where building a spaceport is not practical, like planets with small villages that do not constitute the need for continuous protection.

                              ~Technical and Historical Notes:~

By 2031, the venerable F-302A, while still an extremely capable fighter compared to Wraith Darts, Ori Raiders and various other fighters in use by hostile cultures, was beginning to show it's age. The trinium alloys developed to build the fighter had been manufactured with considerable impurities that only now were being corrected in refinement, and thus the airframes of the fighters were prematurely deteriorating. In other words, the planes were becoming brittle and decayed before their originally projected time.

The United States faced a considerabe quandry and potential scandal over this. Every nation capable of maintaining a space fleet used the F-302, and should those fighters fail the defense of Earth and her interests in the universe would be at serious risk. Therefore, the United States immediately created the Advanced Spaceborne Fighter Program (ASF), for the purposes of creating a replacement. In a considerable milestone, it opened the competition to foreign and domestic aerospace companies, as this was to become the next-generation fighter for the Tau'ri.

The need for the new fighter became incredibly urgent after the string of victories the Wraith had against Tau'ri and Allied forces in the Pegasus Galaxy during the summer of 2032, so the deadline was moved up. The only companies capable of such a feat were Mitsubishi in Japan, Lockheed Martin, and the relatively new and unknown company Storm Works, the last two based in the United States. By next spring Storm Works had nearly bankrupted itself and sold off a lot of it's stock to General Electric, but they had completed their first prototype fighter, the X-322, in only three years.

The X-322 was heavily based on the F-302 Mongoose. Wide wings, two-seats, and three main engines. But the similarities ended there. Firstly, the fighter used a next-generation naquadriah-based powerplant: Two generators custom-built by the Storm Works crew. They provided 500 percent more power than the same generators onboard the Mongoose, and had less than half the parts. The inertial dampening system was spread out through the wings to increase the fighter's manueverability 50 percent over the F-302's, and served to make the wings more rigid, allowing the fighter to hold more fuel and take more damage. Range was 35 percent over the 302's, using the same system but a more efficient design. Combined with three off-the-shelf ion engines from General Electric, and the X-322 was beating back the competition even in prototype phase.

More of a cost-savings, but still critical, feature, was the fact that the X-322 did not come with any permanent weapons installed. Two hardpoints on either side of the fuselage were connected to the power distribution system directly, allowing for directed energy weapon or rail gun pods to be attached. An innovative feature was the fact that these hardpoints could have their energy flow reversed, allowing for the attachment of extra power generators to augment the X-322's already impressive energy output. Alongside ten hardpoints that allowed the fighter to haul a warload of over 250,000 pounds with no real loss in performance, and the X-322 would be able to absolutely dominate the battlespace.

From the start, Storm Works had intended the X-322 to be flexible. The fighter could just as easily fly a strike mission as a reconaissance one, serve as an interceptor for a carrier battlegroup or engage in interdictions of hostile forces over planetary surfaces. Storm Works even left the provision for the X-322 to act as a tanker, providing nitrogen fuel to fighters, or naquada charges to Puddlejumpers and utility craft. Every weapon in GATO's inventory could be carried, giving the fighter unprecedented versatility. And, thanks to her high energy output and powerful engines, she would not be another "does everything, nothing well" craft. She would be able to do everything asked of her well, and the continuingly encouraging tests and demonstrations proved it.

By 2035, a test squadron of X-322s was flying out of Fallon Naval Air Station in Nevada, with aviators from ten different countries testing the new aircraft. The verdict was unanimous-The X-322 was superior to the F-302 in every way. The Lockheed Martin X-321, while having a longer range and featuring new ablative armor, was twice as expensive, and the Mitsubishi X-323, while faster in level flight and hyperspace, was no where near as rugged or dependable.

In 2036, The X-322 was redesignated the F/A-322 Hurricane. Storm Works Ltd. was able to remain an independent company with the outpouring of orders from the GATO member nations, but still worked closely with General Dynamics in production of the fighters.

The first combat squadron to upgrade to the F/A-322 were, appropriately enough, the 1st TFW "Wraithwaxers", only the second interstellar tactical fighter wing in human history. From aboard the SGCS Daedalus in the Pegasus galaxy, the Wraithwaxers didn't lose a single plane for thirty engagements, and inflicted devastating losses on four Wraith-held worlds. They are credited with being the first fighter squadron to destroy a Wraith superhive in a strike at MH4-409. Soon every squadron and fighter wing on and off Earth were demanding the upgrade to the Hurricane, and Storm Works expanded their modest production facility near Los Angelas, California, from two hundred acres to ten thousand over the course of two years. Other companies leased the rights to the fighter and began their own production, soon putting one hundred ninety-six F/A-322s out into the world's air and space forces, with more under construction as the war against the Wraith, Reapers, and Ori continued to escalate.

Two facilities were established offworld for the production of F-322s, barely a year before General Drac's assault on Earth herself. The Hurricanes were a huge part of the daring plan to retake Earth by the Tau'ri fleets, the Wraithwaxers themselves arriving from Pegasus and dealing the fatal blow to General Drac's ship at the cost of half their number. In the wake of the Wraith's defeat, and the marginalization of the Ori following their destruction, the F/A-322 plants in California and elsewhere are rebuilding and revving production up to full. The total orders for Hurricanes total more than 1,000 fighters in total, and no end for their production is in sight.

ZakeD designed the fighter, I just wrote the backstory. So, on behalf of him and myself, I sincerely ask that this work be considered for voting.

The origional GW fleet was set in a fictional war against the Wraith in the Pegasus galaxy, a war lead by an Allience of the Asgard and Earth peoples and fought by a Asgard commisioned fleet of Earth ships. The war lasted 15-25 years between the dates of 2012-2035 and involved the loss of over one hundred thousand human lives, and the final battle costing over one hundred million when the Wraith attack and cull earth itself.

The GW Virtual Fleet 2.0 is to be set 5 years after the wraith attack on earth, in 2040, when the Human empire is set to expand across the MW and defend the people within the Empire against any unknown threats.
I would like to join you all in becoming part of the GW fleets newest branch, and tell the Story of the Emergence of the Tauri empire and its new fleet of advanced warships.

Thats the Premise. I would like you all to nominate ships and storylines that could be used for that premise, be they old designed or new ones created specificly for this. If Possible all ships should have a model and a decnet backstory. Also standard componants that run through the entire fleet would be helpfull eg Rail guns at standard callibres, Naquadah reactors in Various Mark's, Asgard shield and hyperdrives.. etc
Once we have a range of vessels nominated for different classes and roles within the fleet we can start voting.
In addition to the ships we also require ideas for enemies and storylines which can be used, e.g emergence of the Aschen as a rival Human Superpower.

Thanks for you continued support and hope we can make this fleet just and brilliant as it's Parent thread.
