Ford's Background, What Is It?

I am curious to know, as with all of the characters on this new show, where and what did Ford come from? State, training, specialties,................etc.? What, where, how, who, and why? He seems like someone that can really take care of himself.

We know almost nothing about him. We only know what we've seen in the first ep basicly.

As far as I can recall, he's just a 25 year old Leuitenant in the USAF, nothing much has been told of his past, etc.

Wish I knew, I like his character but I would like to know more about him. They should have an episode revolving around Ford so we can learn more about him.

Actually, he's a Marine, not in the air force. From what i can tell the only air force officer on Atlantis is Sheppard, and I seem to recall that Ford is supposed to be a weapons specialist. Which would explain why he's giving the briefing in Suspicion.

Right the Atlantis mission was a Marine operation. Sheppard only came along because of his ability to use Ancient tech. Purely a last minute addition.

Part 1 of "Rising" gives a very brief glimpse of his parents; they appear to be a pretty warm, benign family, from a stereotypical urban environment. (note the obligatory graffiti on the wall) I did notice a significant age difference between Lt. Ford (25 years old) and the gentleman sending him off - his grandfather, maybe?

That would be one of the best story's ever... If it turned out to be Walter and he was killed on a mission in between the end of Nikita and the beginning of Atlantis... that's why he lived with his grandparents... Soooo Gooood...

He must have been wit one of the other SG teams at one time. He did kid Sheppard to believe that travel thru the gate was painful. Other than that observation and what they glimpse of his parents and being a weapons/demolitionist we know little.
