What is the purpose of the Prior's staff?

Why do Priors walk around with those flashy lookin' pimp canes of theirs when they can still use their powers perfectly without it?

I doubt that everything we've seen Priors do has been just from them, their staff likely plays a role.

Well Anubis' clone had identical powers to the Priors. But starting plagues and raising the dead are beyond the powers of an advanced human I guess and the Prior's staff glowing when spreading plagues and raising the dead I guess sorta indicates the staff is some sort of device for the Ori to share their power with the Priors.

The staff could be some sort of power amplifier.

That's what I think too. It most likely helps them in channeling their power.

Maybe the staff is what allows them to dial the stargate across galaxies.?

I think it taps into the Ori directly.

                  Sort of like a focus.

They need their Horadric Staff to open the gate, duh.

Most importantly, let's not forget. Most likely, long ago, an Ori or Prior came up with the notion that staff's were, well, just plain cool to have.

It's not a staff, it's a stave, huge difference. Staves are way more balla.
