Question about Orlin

My question is, was Orlin really an Ancient? Or someone Oma helped ascend.

The reason i ask this is that it seems silly that they only way for him to decend was in a childs body, the reason being he needed to retain more knowledge. If he was an Ancient he should have far more brain capacity then us less advanced humans. Granted they probably can't retain all the knowledge, but it has to be a damn site more than what Orlin could in the episode.

Unless of course he was just as advanced us as before he ascended and therefore could not decend into an advanced human body.

in The Fourth Horseman Part 2 he says to the prior that he's an ancient. The body related stuff, I believe that he had no other choice than to go with that human body. Of course he would prefered to be like Merlin, but Merlin probably didn't even said that he wanted to descend to kill the ori, so the others let him go as he was.
