STARGATE ATLANTIS (1.03) - "Hide and Seek"
(original airdate 07.23.04)
Review:
As the episode opens, Dr. McKay has volunteered to be the first human
subject for Dr. Beckett's new gene therapy. As seen last week McKay
has been greatly troubled that he couldn't activate any of the
Ancients' technology. Beckett hopes that this therapy will change
McKay's DNA so that the city's devices will respond to him. If this
works, Beckett hopes to adapt every human in the team so they can
perform ATA (Ancient Technology Activation). McKay agrees to the
therapy because he's located something he wants to try to use.
Beckett injects the fluid into McKay.
**snippity doo-dah*
Quotes of the Week:
Dr. Beckett: "In this case, we're using a mouse retrovirus to deliver
the missing gene to your cells."
Dr. McKay: "Are there any side effects?"
Dr. Beckett: "Dry mouth, headache, the irresistible urge to run in a
small wheel... "
Dr. Weir: "Everyone needs to understand they are not to touch
anything unfamiliar unless it's been cleared first."
Dr. McKay: "It's very important. You never know, even a tiny,
innocuous thing can kill you. Dead man talking."
Dr. Weir: "I wouldn't have thought you believed in ghosts."
Dr. McKay: "I never used to. But then I learned about things called
Wraiths that can suck the life out of you through their hands. What
is that?"
Jinto: "I'm sorry. What happened to you was my fault."
Ford: "Where I come from, we have a little saying: Stuff happens.
It's a little different than that, but you didn't mean for this to
happen, did you? When we came to your world, your home was destroyed,
you almost lost your dad. I don't remember you getting mad at me over
that."
Jinto after a shrug of his shoulders: "Stuff happens."
Sheppard (after McKay saves the day): "That was a 'hail Mary!'"
Next Week
"Thirty-Eight Minutes," With Sheppard compromised by an alien
parasite, the team and the Puddlejumper is stuck in a Stargate with
only a frustrated Dr. McKay able to save them. "I apologize for being
the only one who realizes just how screwed we are," McKay says.
