    Hyperspace vs. Subspace

O.K. what is the differece between sub space and hyper space. I originally thought they were one in the same but ships travel through hyperspace yet they use Subspace for communications. If they are the same why not stick to one name or the other?
I doubt my sanity; then again I doubt yours as well!

Hyperspace is an extra dimensional something or other in which the speed of light may be faster or slower than it is in real time. This would allow the traversing of great distances at a rate under the speed of light in the extra dimension while staying under SoL in our dimension. I think that answers it.

    Not a clue about subspace.

Basically they are one in the same. See when they open hyperspace window they go to dimenson between our space and subspace but the communication devices communcatie entirley in the subspace dimenson. Now to travel faster at hyper drive speed they go closer to the subspace dimenson which require more power to do. Worholes are completly in subspace and that why the travel instantly through to the next planet.

Close enough. They're the same, but referred to differently depending upon context. 'Subspace' would refer to 'energy' applications, such as 'Subspace Communications', Wormholes, etc. 'Hyperspace' refers to 'matter' applications, which is essentially exclusive to ship travel. Hyperspace is the part of subspace in which a ship is travelling, not the entire dimension itself. A 'hyperspace window' is a temorary 'rift' between subspace and 'normal' space, while the 'corridor' within subspace itself is what you'd refer to as hyperspace. A ship travelling through hyperspace is actually 'tunneling' through subspace, and when the hyperdrive shuts down (for whatever reason), the ship reverts back into 'normal' space. Even if it is destroyed, it will still revert to normal space where the resulting explosion would still affect the space where it reverts to. (Remember the ships in 'Small Victories'?)

So yeah... pretty much the same thing..! Just different in context...

This is a good explanation, hyperspace could almost be called transspace, but that wouldn't be wholly accurate. Only issue I have with your post is for any of this to work you have to base all your ideas off the theory that matter is just a specific alignment/vibration level of energy, and they are really no different. Good stuff. Have some green

              Thanks..!

In truth, matter really IS just another form of energy. That is precisely why nuclear processes work. With fission, your are converting matter to energy, and with fusion you are convertion energy to matter. Thus the relevance of E=mc^2, to nuclear reactions. Matter is basically, 'frozen' energy. The difference between Ice and Steam is an adequate analogy to describe the difference.
