    Atlantis... Naquadah... right?

I'm assuming the whole city of Atlantis is
made up of Naquadah. McKay said something
about the city's corridors being super conductors
(The Storm and The Eye) and able to conduct lightening
to power the shields. Anyway... So if the city blows...
the explosion enhanced by Naquadah will wipe out the
whole Pegasus Galaxy...!!!?????!!! Also, I'm sure the Ancients
did something to prevent it, but when potassium in human
blood comes in contact with city's walls (assuming they're
made of NQ <- will be cool if this went into the periodic table..)
it will create severe explosion...? LOL...

Anyway my question is. When Atlantis blows, will it cause
    catastrophic destruction..?

If it is made of Naquadah then it will depend on how much potassium comes into contact with it due to Limiting Reactants.

I don't think it is made of Naquadah.

An explosion might destroy the system, but no the galaxy. Be realistic.

            Seconded.

Naquadah is a superheavy element. It simply wouldn't float without help

Uh..not really....Naquada by itself can blow up. 'Singularity' was just showing one specific way it blew up.

Besides, I doubt its made of Naquada. The city is fragile, the Stargates are made of Naquada, and they are unbelievably strong. The Ancients didn't design the city itself to stand up to anything, they had their shield for that. Any further protection in the buildings would have been meaningless.

Oh, and as posted above, the weight.

It took two serpent guards to carry a single block of refined naquada in 'Upgrades'...and think of how heavy the gate is.....The city would sink like a rock. (Actually, it would weigh more than if it was made of rock, but you get the idea....)

Do you think that the substance out of which Atlantis is built will be referred to as orichalcum? In the legends of Atlantis, this material was slightly less valuable (I think) than gold and was used to build part of the city.

EDIT- Different sections of Atlantis' walls were said to be constructed of brass, tin and orichalcum, so perhaps Atlantis might be made of an alloy of these (even though brass itself is an alloy), and orichalcum is the Ancient word for naquadah (or trinium as immhotep points out below - why didn't I think of that!).

its made of trinium, everyone can see that..silver colour, super strong, super light, slightly less than gold in value ( likely to be true though no actualmarket avalable to test it on). trinum is the material of choice, and superconductor...its metal, its conductive i assume in some capacity...why not.

Its gotta be an alloy of some kind otherwise the whole blood causing the city to explode would be a real downer Ive no idea what the alloy is perhaps they'll tell us if they ever do a bloody episode showing what we've learned by being in atlantis

trinium or the metal that the asguard use on the o'neil'l class vessel (neutronium) or something like that. is the most likerly.

It definatly not naquadria as in the eposode were they plan to blow alantis up it would only fracure into several smaller pieces, this would'nt be possible with naquadria
