1. Why wouldn't the wraith have found it in 10.000 years
2. This wouldn't work as the atlantis can _never_ have 3 ZPM's because it would enable them to fly the ship back to the MW

It's a fair idea but it would never be used due to obvious things :)

I have an answer to all of your questions that would make it work.

1) The Ancients on board were preforming various experiments on a Red Giant, when they induced a Super Nova. The city survived, but everyone inside died from radiation. The now White Dwarf collapsed further into a black hole and the city began to orbit.

2) The Wraith indeed know about it, but won't go near it. They tried about 40 years ago, but lost 8 hive ships and decided that it wasn't worth it as none of their ships had strong enough engines to escape the hole aas the city is now growing close to the Event Horizon.

3)Weir discovers the city present day and McKAy convinces her they should try and get it. They send the Daedalus because it's engines are strong enough to escape the hole.

See, it works now.

If it was powerful enough to pull in Hive ships into the evenzt horizon then I cannot possibly see how this city would just be sitting in orbit totally unaffected for 10,000 years. It's derelict & unattended, so this only means one of two things.

The stardrive has been running for 10,000 plus years constantly to prevent it from being pulled inside. Somehow I can't see 3 ZPM's having enough power for that.

Secondly, if it was far enough away from the black hole to stop it from being dragged in, in the first place, then docking Hives would be also be perfectly safe as well.

If the gravitational field isn't strong enough to pull in Atlantis because it's at a safe enough distance away from it, then anything else at that distance would also be unaffected. The gravitational field is nowhere near powerful enough to pull in something that's been drifting for 10,000 years. Maybe a few years in orbit at most is the most it could survive before succumbing to it. This ultimately means that for it to only be finding a black hole after all these millenia then it'd have had to have been drifting through Pegasus for all that time & only now is it just getting close enough to the black hole's range. This is highly implausible for a perfectly functioning city just to be floating through space for all that time & never had the Wraith come across it until a few years ago.

Barring that, why would they need to even introduce yet another city into the mix, Atlantis was supposed to be unique, yet another one has been shown in 'The Tower', now another one will be seen in 'Progeny' as well. So cannot see what bringing in another one would do. If it's for the ZPM's, then why not have them steal a few from the many that the HZ nanite guys have, or have them come across an Ancient storage facility, it has automated defences etc, so they have to outsmart them & fight their way in, thus making them work for whatever they got from it.

I like the idea, but it has a few holes that need to be filled first.

The city has been in orbit for 10000 years starting at a safe distance, but it decayed over time till it wanear the event horizon. This would be a good idea because the writers could then screw around with time and the laws of physics.

May be it better it was a ship that was experimenting with useing black holes as power generators and so the reason it be so stable and it able stay power up for ten thousands years is because of the black hole. just a suggestion for a improvement it would eliminate some of the plot holes.

Even if they get 3 ZPMs they probably wouldnt try to fly the city because I dont know where they would park it unless they decided to put it in the Anartic again. The other problem would be the Wraith could destory the city while we were trying to leave because the power would be used mostly for the stardrive so it might not to be able to defend itself that well.

The fact that the stargate system is based on singularities and wormholes makes it entirely reasonable that the ancients would locate research facilities near blackholes. It also makes sense that the ancients may have been working on the development of supergate technology like what the Ori are using to invade the MW. So the fundamental plot line is solid. There are two questions that need answering tho. First is, why haven't the wraith found it and second, what good is it. In prior episodes, we've seen that the wraith tend not to waste their time attempting to defeat ancient weapon systems that are still active. Regardless of whether or not there are humans living within the shelter of those systems, the wraith tend to just bypass them, as if they consider it to be too much trouble to deal with given the low yield of food they're likely to get. Therefore, a derelict city ship orbiting a black hole is likely not of any interest to the wraith. They likely found it centuries ago, checked it out, and determined that it was useless to them. Regarding the second question, the answer would have to be one of three things: a) a power source, b) a weapon or c) a transportation system (e.g. supergate). The idea of a supergate is the most interesting because it would be a viable way of introducing a new enemy or ally into the story. That is, McKay discovers that the ancients were attempting to build a supergate.. he realizes that their work was almost complete when they were attacked by the wraith, the attack caused the shields to fail and destroyed the cities life support systems, everyone on board was killed and the wraith moved on, leaving most of the city still intact. McKay and Zelenka work together to complete the supergate. They fly one of their recently discovered ancient warships through to what appears to be a new different galaxy inhabited by unascended ancients. These ancients agree to help in the fight against the wraith and bring a new city ship into Pegasus to guard the supergate and provide help to Atlantis in much the same way the Asgard help in SG-1.

Damn... maybe I should apply for a job as a writer for the series..

I doubt it, they couldn't use the black hole for travel, so only power would be a reason to contruct it near one. Which I can't see them doing because it's far too dangerous, to actually take the energy they'd need to be right there next to it, anything failed in the city & it's be pulled in.

Supergate tech probably wouldn't be needed for them either, simply because they'd need lots located throughout the galaxy to jump from place to place in their ships. That just wouldn't be feasible because the Ori currently only have 1, to protect over a 1000 human planets the Lantians would need a fair few.

If the Wraith found it, I'm sure it would have been of much interest to them, because the DB might have new locations for them to go to & more importantly the engines to get them there. So I cannot see them simply leaving it alone, the info & tech it could contain would be far too valuable to them to simply ignore. If they attacked & took down the shields, then they would send in Darts & Wraith to the city. If the shields fell in the city then that means the power has been depleted, if that's the case then there is nothing left for the engines to use to stay clear of being pulled into the black hole. Therefore it'd be pulled in & destroyed. Barring that the Wraith simply wouldn't just leave it all alone, they'd send in their scientists to check it all out for the stuff I mentioned above.

If it did engage & go through the gate, bringing in actual Ancients would take everything away from the show. They wouldn't just say okay we'll drop in & guard the gate, but we're not going to bother with the Wraith or give you any knowledge on how to construct ZPM's & Drones etc. If they didn't want to be bothered by the gate, then they'd simply shut it down permanently from their end.

Sorry but it'd never happen, they'd never introduce Ancients into the mold, Ancient tech is the best there is, once Earth knows how to build that, then no mortal enemy could even compete with them. Stargate is & always will be about them being the underdogs. This is why they could have easily changed the whole story around, such as Janus helped save Atlantis with his modifications, he seemed to really care for Weir. So when he got back to the MW & perfected his TimeJumper, why didn't he simply go back in time to Atlantis, then turn around the war with the knowledge of the future, or go forward to now & help the Atlantis team finally take out the Wraith. Simply because it'd make things too easy & destroy the whole element of the show. This is why they will never bring in real Ancients to help battle the Wraith. If any were ever instroduced, then it'd be as enemies.

HaHaHa not in season 3 anytime... Infact there is no way i even think they would be able to get enough ZPM's to make it fly anytime soon.

Everything else is fine I just want to change something under what you have labeled as #1.

They were performing various experiments on a red giant in a double star system when they induced a supernova. The supernova pushed the cityship far out. Everyone onboard was killed from the intense heat and radiation, but the shield held. Not everyone died at first. Those who survived were able to put in new ZPM's but city's engines were offline. Those who survived the initial blast eventually died of hunger. The ship lay adrift for many thousands of years until it was pulled in by the gravity of the second star. Which also went supernova, but the cityship wasn't as close as it was to the first one. There was much less damage. Yet again, it was pushed out of the system. And fell under the gravitational pull of the first star's black hole that had formed. They found it a few years before it was about to enter the event horizon.

How's that?

I think it is a great idea but can change a few things, like some of u have suggested plus they would be a good idea to introduce the daduleus cloaking, can't remeber who but some mentioned about the wraith guarding the city ship or ship, how about a new type of anicent ship, the only 1 of its kind. :D
