    Future of the Genii

Just saw the whole coup thing so what do you guys think about the fate of the Genii now? A lot of nice twist and turns in the episode but I think I will really miss Cowen. He was a nice villain to face. Ruthless and uncaring in his goal to destroy the Wraith and insure the rise of the Genii as an empire in the Pegasus galaxy. Not sure what to think about Ladon as he seems just as ruthless though he does seem more in debt to the Atlantis team for what they did for his sister.

Was a bit surprised now about how much changed with the Genii. Cowen is gone, Ladon is now in command, they have access to the Ancient Gene and have functional atomic weapons. Also what about Kolya?! Sheppards arch nemesis is apparently gone. To the great big Genii bunker in the sky.

Not sure how the Genii are going to be a menace anymore considering the Daedalus's presence now in the galaxy. Yes sure they werent powerful or anything but they were a nice human menace to face. First bad guy race in Stargate that had a more 'regular' appearance and had more 'inferior' technology then what we had.

So what do you people think? Genii forgotten now? Genii remain as enemies? Genii become a new ally for the Atlantis team?

heh I think we all know whats gonna happen,
    A. We work together with them on a future mission and then once we accomplish that they screw us.
    Or
B.They get attacked by the Wraith and seek shelter in Atlantis, then realize they could take over atlantis and they screw us

Either way the Genii are gonna end turning on us

oo and now they functional NUCLEAR weapons, little bit more powerful the Atomic weapons.

As far as I am concerned the Genii can no longer be trusted. And now that they have samples of the Ancient gene they are potentially more of a threat then ever, no matter who their leader is. So in order to ensure that the Genii are never a threat to us in the future I say we do what a couple of others have suggested. Have the Daedalus go to the Genii homeworld and take their stargate. It would be nice and simple, and definitely solve the problem. I know some may think that it is kind of drastic, but it’s what I would do.

Don't they trade through the gate?

If you do that, you take away a bit of their food source (and who knows what other things).

Their whole farming industry is just a facade. They have the entire underground city going for them and from what we saw in "Underground", they're not exactly short on food.

Whilst Ladon needed our help to stage his coup, when the time comes and he has an oppertunity to gain technology from us without trading he will turn. Whilst we may have a few months of peace what with us helping cure their people then when the time comes he will turn against us.

Why does everyone assume that Koyla is dead, he is only "missing". He could stage another coup or even start another group against us and the Genii.

Perosnally, i think they might become allies, but not very helpful ones. More like the kinds you can never get a hold of in an emergency. As for Kolya, he probably wouldn't agree to being allies with Atlantis, were he around. i wouldn't count him out of the picture yet, though. Robert's too good an actor for the writers to just drop off, and Kolya's too essential a character. So maybe the Genii will split again, one gorup under Kolya.

Since we cured their people, that might make the people who where healed think twice before betraying the Alantian. It could start to change their culture, and get them to start trusting outsiders. The leadership my not, but public opion(sp) can do interesting things

I think the Genii will be allies with Atlantis, but only to get help fighting off the wraith and to gain new technologies. I don't see the Genii openly helping Atlantis without expecting something in return.

I would like to see Kolya again and see what he thinks of Ladon's leadership. Sora too.

I thought cowen mentioned Kolya in Coup de etat. Saying he was no longer respected by the rest of the genii or something along those lines.
Sora, last time we saw her seemed to have changed for the better, but that still needs to be proven.
Ladon seems to be pro-atlantis alliance more than the others were especially when he found out there was a cure for his sister. But again we'll have to see.
Season 3 will most certainly include the Genii in some form, but at the moment they are indebted to us. But we know (under cowen) they can be backstabbing b******s.

I think Cowen said that he didnt like or respect Kolya but he wouldnt have killed him. Not sure though as it could have been part of the plot to convince the Atlantis team that Ladon was attempting a coup because Ladon said that he was going to coup because of Cowens poor leadership, ruthless ambition and the supposed assassination of Kolya.

The Genii are still an unknown quantity, I think for the time being Atlantis should accept them as allies however considering the level of trust at present I would think certain security safeguards would be in place at all times as having a security escort with any of the Genii that came to Atlantis until we are sure they can be trusted

However, every time i hear the name "The Genii" it reminds of the word "Genie" does anyone else think this could be more than a coincidence, as in some strands of mythology they are very deceptive, however I could be wrong though ??
