From sixties frump to modern fabulous
TYEE BRIDGE Special to The Globe and Mail
Forty years ago Don Ho was topping the charts with Tiny Bubbles, beehive
hairdos roamed the landscape and colour TV was just getting popular. Flick on the set and you'd likely catch an episode of Flipper, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., or a new series called Star Trek.Such pop-culture tidbits might seem unrelated to Jim and Laurie Barbieri's striking Craftsman renovation of their North Vancouver home. *** Once the renovations were complete the home was impressive enough to occasionally serve as the set for both Stargate and The Dead Zone. They loved it, but when they had a chance to buy a house on the street where Jim grew up, they jumped. Jim's parents are now their neighbours three doors down, nearby grandparents for son Ty, 8.

Q: OK, I'll go John from Green Tree one better. UPN19 moves both "Stargate"
shows around so much and at the last minute. I like both shows but find it
difficult to keep watching. Why is WNPA making it so difficult for me to watch?
"With so many sports commitments -- the Pens in the fall and WVU basketball
and Steelers programming more recently -- we've had to juggle our schedule
around quite a bit," WNPA station manager Rich Davis explained. "The good news is
that there are no more plans to move either 'Stargate SG-1' or 'Stargate:
Atlantis' in the coming weeks."
