Atlantis long? range sensors (allies spoilers)

Okay just an observation. The Atlantis crew have been aware of this one hive ship for around 3 weeks prior to its arrival. So then when the Daedalus and the hive ship go to test the virus on a nearby hive ship they make one short hyperspace jump. Why did this hive not show on the atlantis deep space scan as it is clearly less than 3 weeks away.

I think they detect alot of things on their scanners, but they can also tell if it's moving in their direction. Like the cruisers in Critical Mass, no one really cared about them until they started heading towards Atlantis.

It's possible that they could have been landed on a nearby planet all that time. The Hive contacted them & it came out of the planet's atmosphere on the blind side of the planet. So because of that, the planet had been shielding the Hive's signature from the deep space sensors.

It took a jump & arrived a couple of mins before Daedalus. By that time, there wasn't enough time to have it picked up by Atlantis to inform Daedalus.

Another thing is that I don't think they could have contacted Daedalus anyhow. If you remember Zelenka discovered the virus & asked if it had left yet. So they knew something was wrong before it arrived at it's destination, yet for some reason seemed unable to contact it while in HS.
