How long will Ronan keep his gun? Lost Boys Spoilers

So upto Lost Boys Ronans been captured and has lost his gun 3 times (4 times if you count the end of Runner when he was held in Atlantis for a short time). Now so far he's been able to get it back every time, but I figure he's going to lose it eventually. The question is what will he do? Will he try to get a new one from Kels (Trinity guy) old weapon trading buddies, or will he just start using Tau'ri weaponry?

Why would he lose his weapon?
I dont think he will lose it and if he does he will just build another one (at least that will be my excuse when it magically reappears). Its like a staff weapon was to teal'c for the first 8 years... a trademark.
Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

Aye but staff weapons were really easy to replace, seeing as how every jaffa out there had one. I imagine by the end of the first season the SGC probably had dozens in their armory, with dozens more in the hands of researchers. But Ronans home planet is gone, they can't be producing them anymore, and I seriously doubt Ronan has the technical knowledge to build another from scrap.

He's bound to get captured again, be it by the Genii, or Ford, or the Wraith again or any other unforseen force. What if the next time it happens he won't be able to retrieve it during their escape?

True on the SGC\staff weapon thing. But where did Ronan get his weapon in the first place? He surely didn’t get it from his homeworld since he didn’t have it when he was imprisoned by the wraith and they didn’t give it to him. So either he built it himself or he bought if off someone from a populated planet, either way he will be able to acquire a new one.

Whats really annoying is that although he will IMHO always be able to aquire a new one if his special weapons no one else on the team will ever be able to get one. Its one of those odd scifi plot device things I guess.

Ronon will give up his cool gun when they pry it from his cold dead fingers. Really. I can't see him giving itup and not trying to get it back. Now, he lost his sword in "Hive" but hey, a sword is a sword, unless it's gem-encrusted, I suppose. I can't see Ronon as the kind of guy getting sentimentally attached to anything, except maybe that Wraith finger necklace (eeuuuu).

I have to say, that to me it looks like a normal handgun that has been modified. Considering that Ronan could not stop anywhere for more than a few hours and the fact that his rank was a specialist, we don't know what he is a specialist of maybe weapons? I'd say its a hand built ronan gun, and that eventually he'll lose it and modify something from the atlantis armory

He will always have it. And if he loses it he will somehow get it back. TPTB wants him to be "alien".

I don't see him losing it any time soon.

Some did survive so they might be in the ruins.

it looks like an intar, ya know the goauld training weapon, that had loads of different power levels...maybe the intar technolgy was ancient, the wraith took it from ancient soldiers long ago and ronan got lucky in finding either the ancinet bodies who used to use them or a wraith that stole one way back when.
if thats the case the weapon might be in the database. just havent found it yet..JMO

hmm you know what I don't understand. Why don't the tau'ri start using more advanced weapons then there primitive p-90 (Mckay says in season one that there weapons are very primitive). They've come across many energy based weapons within there reach that don't require you to change the clip every 50 shots.
and as far as there not be any more weapons, if they were an advanced society as his weaponry suggests and the fact that there's 300 of his people alive then maybe his society is being rebuilt which means more cool guns

He'll either go to his planet and get a new one. (If its tech built by his race) The Wraith didn't completely level the city seen on the malp so probably a few surviving armorys. Or he'll go get another from wherever he got it in the first place.

well, i think the theory about the ancients is plausible, after all, the weapons that we have come across in use by other races in PG have all been projectile weapons, nothing energy.

The most logical assumption is that he found it out on his travels, be that someone he killed & took it from, came across while hiding out or perhaps traded it from someone.

It can't be his own people weapons, because in the flashback scene they were using projectile based weapons. When there are Darts flying overhead shooting & sweeping, then it really doesn't pay to be reloading every few seconds. That & the fact that they could only carry a limited ammo supply on their person at any one time. So it would make sense that if they had energy based weapons, then they'd be using heavy weapon variations on them. That & the fact also that if he could build them, then why not equip the rest of the off-world teams with them.

That is the biggest drawback for me, he's been with them for almost a year & nobody on the team has felt the need to chance their luck by asking him if they could get one as well.

So I personally believe that he either killed someone & took it, found it or traded it. We have seen the Durandens (SP!) have energy weapons, so it's logical to assume other human worlds had them as well. So all three scenarios are entirely possible.
