Atlanits doesn't seem to have a "gateroom" per se, as in the SGC. But rahter a "gate departure area". The Puddlejumper bay is located directly above the gate, so it's easy and fast to get a PJ into action and through the gate.

the "gate room" in atlantis only has room for a pj sized.

in the hive shjeppard believed that the dart would be too big for the atlantis gate room, so he went into atlantis on foot.
