    Stargate: Horizon News Topic

Well, in light of the pending season 2.5, I decided that this topic would be interesting to interest fans and draw speculation. You can basically check here for news updates on the series itself and how things are coming along. So, without any further ado...

    February 09, 2006

    New Episode Release Dates Revealed
Both Stargate Universe and the Stargate: Horizon webiste are updated with the release dates for the backhalf of the season, starting with "Path of Revelation, Part One" on March 23rd. The series will return a few weeks after Destiny goes on hiatus, so followers of both series should have more than enough to read.

Hiatus Time Dwindles as "Path" Wraps Up
While March may seem quite some time away, the long hiatus nears its end with only a little over a month remaining. As mentioned previously, the episode of the second half are expected to air without break from the premiere of 2.12 to the premiere of 2.24.

The white draft of 2.13 "Path of Revelation, Part 2" has been completed as the long midseason Earth arc comes to a close. With only one of the three episodes aired, expect several surprises and twists along the way. Episodes currently in development include "Night Terrors," "The Adversary," "Convergence," "Zach Story," and "Amazing Grace."

    Addition of New Staff
As reported on Alex's blog two new writers by the names of Patricia and Vincent have joined the staff, along with a concept artist by the name of Peter. Expect some interesting concept art to be released alongside some of the episodes in the second half of the season.

    The Journey Continues
Stargate: Horizon is expected to return in March. Why so late? Well, if things go as planned, the second half will be completely break free from 2.12-2.24. Nothing is guarenteed as of yet, but with a date so far back, breaks will be nonexistant or limited. While the exact date is not yet set, Horizon returns with "The Chamer" and "Path of Revelation," the surprising conclusions to "The Devil to Pay." Following that will be "The Adversary," where Grant finds himself utilizing all of the physical and mental skills he possesses. Following that is "Convergence," in which Horizon sees the return of Dr. Yusuf Naiyeer, as well as a new character who serves as an interesting foil to Christine. Other episodes (working titles): "Zach Story," "Amazing Grace," "Tom Episode," and "Aschen Again." Also, drawn up from the shelved episodes is "Catch 22," which will follow up on the events of the early season episode "Troika." Plans for the finale are in the works, as well as a few potential ideas for Season Three... Assuming Horizon gets renewed.

    Stargate: Horizon Website
Sam Jones is currently working on a way to make it so that anyone can update the Horizon site with news. It's taking a while, which is why there is such a lack of news posts lately. In the mean time, things can be checked out in, would you know it, this topic!

    Stargate: Destiny Premiere
Waiting for new Horizon episodes? While not involving Horizon directly, Colonel John Grant makes a brief appearance in the pilot episode of Stargate: Destiny. The first two episodes (merged as one, like Horizon's "Awakening") are available on the Destiny website, or via Stargate Universe. This puts two virtual series out on the net.

    Mid-Season Three Parter
With the second half of the second season undergoing development, the exciting conclusion to 2.11 "The Devil to Pay" was underway. Having finally been completed, it was agreed upon that there is too much to resolve in order to fit into two episodes. Not wanting to disappoint after 2.11's cliffhanger (in which we found our heroes, and the planet to be, bluntly put, screwed), "The Chamber" has been expanded into two episodes in order to more fully and concisely tell the story.

Come the end of the hiatus, the second half of the season will premiere with "The Chamber, Part 1," followed the following week by "The Chamber, Part 2." Note that these episode names are subject to change. Unfortunately, this means that things will be resolved a full week later than at first expected.

The second episode of the three clocks in at 74 pages, in light of some episodes of alte being extraordinarily long. No air dates are currently set for "The Chamber."

    2.5 in Full Development
The second half of season two is underway, though no air dates are currently set. It is expected to run either alongside the upcoming virtual series Stargate: Destiny, or during its hiatus.

The season is flying by, and before we know it we'll find ourselves at the end of its 24 episode run. While there is no news regarding a third season as of yet, there are a few things that can be expected from the second half of season two:

For one thing, Yusuf Naiyeer is coming back. As seen in "The Devil to Pay," he's recovering quite well, and things are looking up for him. Expect him to be given a larger role in this season, especially in his homecoming episode.

And of course, there is to be an episode that focuses centrally on the guest character Zach Hoffmann. Not much is known about this episode yet, but fans of the character should enjoy him. Those who arne't quite fans of his will hopefully become such.

At the moment there are several ideas being thrown around for a season finale, with a couple that seem to work. Expect big things in Horizon's future.

You guys seem to have something going for three-parters, huh?

Well, since posting this I've read part two, and I'll say that it definitely works better this way. The second part tops the first part by a long shot. It just so happens that our stories end up being too big for two parters.

      Hey, we had Awakening.

I wish it was you guys writing SG-1. I hate to say it, but I think that you all could do a better job then the current staff. I've been enjoying Horizon a great deal more than I have SG-1, so far.

I disagree. Cliff-hangers are a good thing. They keep the show intresting...but too many cliff-hangers aren't a good thing.

Well, this cliffhanger should leave readers a bit more stunned, as opposed to perhaps the "Oh crap" at the end of "The Devil to Pay."

                        Sorry about that.

I posted about the update before actually updating. As you said, all is well now.

We tried hard to keep it a two parter, but it just wouldn't have worked. So, in addition to Season One's Enoly Trillogy, we could call this the Earth Trillogy.
