Perhaps because some of us are tired of remakes. Do something original for once.

If it can't beat Narnia's box office, i dont think so.

I just saw it Friday night and the theater didn't even have it up on their marquee. No posters, either. As a result the theater was only half-filled. How do they expect to attract theater-goers if they don't advertise locally?

Oh, and, for a remake it was excellent! Kong was unbelievably believable.

A Cherokee elder sitting with his grandchildren told them,
"In every life there is a terrible fight – a fight between two wolves.
One is evil: he is fear, anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity,
resentment, and deceit. The other is good: joy, serenity, humility,
confidence, generosity, truth, gentleness, and compassion."
A child asked, "Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder looked the child in the eye. "The one you feed."

                wife and i saw it.

                i wasn't terribly impressed.

                typical jackson CGI fest.

3hrs too long. should have easily been shaved to 2 without losing anything of note.
                Thanks!

The movie was well written, well acted, and well directed. I watched corpse bride, and that movie felt longer.

I saw King Kong today. The movie was okay but I did enjoy Narnia more.

Kong is doing better in foriegn markets than in the US. $72 million in the US and $152 million world wide as of Monday.

King Kong will do well by the time it leaves theaters. It will bring in a good crowd through the new year. I worked in a movie theater for 5 years and can tell you that Christmas up through January is the busiest time of the year for theaters. King Kong should make its money. When you open the week before Christmas nothing does as well as it should, not to mention most thought it would open on Friday and not Wednesday. It was not advertised as such so naturally now that it is out and people are hearing about it, alot of PJ fans will go out and see it so it will do just fine. Opening weekends are not always the best way to gauge the box office sales, that is just the standard that Hollywood goes by.
