Aust gets Stargate Movie and Season 5

In the past two days EzyDVD has announced the realease of the orginal Stargate Movie: The Ultimate Edition which is a two disc set and also announced a release date for the Season 5 box set.

    Stargate Movie: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/228459
    Season 5 Box Set: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/228447

The upcoming Season 4 box set is due for release on the 18th of August, the movie is slated for the 15th of September at this stage, and the Season 5 box set is due to be released on the 17th of November.

For the people paying attention to the box set release dates, there seems to be three month gap between releases at the moment, with the exception of the movie release. I am curious to find out if this will continue and if the box sets will just keep being released, or do we have to finish seeing Season 7 before we have a chance to get the S7 box set at all?

I cant be bothered waiting for them to come out here. I've just been buying the Region 1 box sets from amazon.com

Are there any places in Australia where they are still screening the episodes? I'm in Melbourne and its been a while since an episode was shown on Channel 7. I've only seen up to S6, I cant wait for the box set release of 7.

Yeah the R1 box sets are ok, just the NTSC picture quality is rather poor when you compare it to PAL, and i'm never too sure about ordering items from overseas.

here in Adeliade the last episode we got was 621 Prophecy, so we are farther behind than most states. Recently I heard that New Zealand had finished S7, or is very close to finishing it.

Here in Melbourne I dont think we even got up to prophecy. I think it was 4 or 5 eps into S6 when they stopped. By that time, there were showing them so inconsistantly that I lost interest.

With regard to ordering from overseas, it only took 1 week and it cost 72 Australian Dollars which I think is cheaper than buying them retail here, 6 or more months later. And I think Amazon is well respected and secure enough with credit card details.

I'm Jealous that the Kiwis have finished S7. Its annoying on the forums when everyone is talking about s7 and s8 and I'm still months away from seeing s7 let alone s8.

I just download all the eps, makes it easier than having to wait for years until they are aired over here. Also it makes the weekends interesting for once.

Bit Torrent? Kazaa? And how large per Ep?

I've got cable but Im not sure of my download limit.

Downloading might prove a viable alternative, waiting is driving me crazy.

Yeah, waiting sucks, Bit Torrent is ok, the file sizes on there are about 350MB per episode. I haven't had any luck connecting to Kazaa recently so i'm not sure about there.

I get the 30MB eps first and torrent the bigger ones while I wait, so that I can watch it in a comfortable resolution.

Download limits are a little unfair, cable is especially bad for them, i'm on ADSL and have a 32GB limit, most cable internet connections I have come across are limited to about 10 - 12GB.

Yeah, I was just waiting for the other guy to get it, then I was planning to remove it. I know what the MPAA is like.

Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely check it out. I'm becoming such a Stargate freak that even after downloading them I'll probably be compelled to buy the Box Sets anyway. But for now low quality 30mb eps should satisfy the cravings. Cheers.

Thats ok, the 30MB eps are just to keep me going until I get the good ones or until we get them on TV.

I have the solution to all your problems!

Order from the U.K.! I get my box sets from Amazon.co.uk. Best of all, season 4 onwards happens to be dual encoded so will play on all Region 4 players as well. The box sets are also a MUCH higher quality than the Australian ones. The first thing you'll notice is that the cases are made of a much stiffer cardboard....the Aussie ones bend really easily. The next thing you'll notice is that they have 6 DVDs in them, not 5. The same number of disks but they're not stingy with putting two disks in one case.

                          So go....buy buy buy!

edited to add: Not to mention the totally awesome special features...I'd almost pay that much just to have access to those!

Woah, you gotta be nuts to order from the UK, the last time I did an exchange rate check on what they would cost me it was $132, thats ridiculous, the boxes we get here are a bit flimsy but they are still good, from season 2 onwards we have been getting 6 discs and we still have all the special features on them as well.

Yeah, the movie is finally coming out here, it's about time.
