    Hot Iron (possible Disclosure spoilers)

Okay, I'm probably going to open a can of worms by asking this question.
Why wasn't Germany told of the Stargate program in 'Disclosure' ?

My opinion is they should have been told, for several reasons:

1 WW-II was sixty years ago, that Germany has rolled over and kicked the bucket.
2 Germany found and had the DHD first.
3 Germany is a key player in Europe.
4 Has a strategical position on the planet.
    5 Has a good army.

Because they aren't a full-time member on the Security Council.

But yes, I would have told them.

And then the US shouldn't tell the US, since they've been in alot more wars after WW2.

    The UK shouldn't either know.
    China is always playing around.

    And so on...

They wanted to tell as few countries as possible. But they did have to tell the countries Major Powers. Germany is not a Major Power anymore. I personally would not have told France either. But they would be pretty if they find out later and we didnt tell them.

I've moved this thread to the Season Six folder, and renamed it so that it is clear what the spoilers are for (spoiler warnings only work if you actually tell people what the spoiler might be for).

No can of worms at all. The group in Disclosure were the permenant members of the UN's security council - China, US, Russia, Great Britain, France.

we have someone from the Czech Republic on the Atlantis team, then it is likely that quite a few countries are now briefed on the Stargate.

It is just that the first to be briefed would be the security council - which is what happened in Disclosure.

In New Order, I believe that Dr. Weir mention to Daniel that there was 11 countries that now know about the stargate because of the outpost in Antractcia.

I checked an atlas and could track down eight of them:

              1 America
              2 Agrentina
              3 Australia
              4 Chilli
              5 France
              6 New Zealand
              7 Norway
              8 United Kingdom.

I think Dr. Weir mentioned something about their being 11 nations claiming the region around the outpost.

According to the World Factbook, there are quite a few nations involved in Antartica.

Maritime claims: Australia, Chile, and Argentina claim Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) rights or similar over 200 nm extensions seaward from their continental claims, but like the claims themselves, these zones are not accepted by other countries.

26 nations, all signatory to the Antarctic Treaty, operate seasonal (summer) and year-round research stations on the continent and in its surrounding oceans; the population of persons doing and supporting science on the continent and its nearby islands south of 60 degrees south latitude

The list of them looks something like this:
                  Argentina
                  Australia
                  Belgium
                  Brazil
                  Bulgaria
                  Chile
                  China
                  Finland
                  France
                  Germany
                  India
                  Japan
                  South Korea
                  Netherlands
                  New Zealand
                  Norway
                  Peru
                  Polan
                  Russia
                  South Africa
