Ouch.

I. Love. TiVo. Anyway, I have no idea what the last part in Part 1 was. I'm too lazy to check. I don't wanna post anything about Part 2 here....hmm....

I loved the special effects, i must say.

Quite enjoyable. New intro isn't bad. Like Teal'c's hair. Weir seems to have some cojones.

Although i liked part 2, i couldn't go without the Teal'c and Thor interaction, little, but rare in the show ;) Loved the 2 new introduced system lords, especially Cumulas :) And oh yes, loved Tealc's new hair :)

You really need to watch part I, espically for the special effects, and better yet the visual effects.

I know, but I have to tape it upstairs and my computer is down, and i have to run backand fourth for hours now.

Spoilers duh.....

In the beginning Weir talked about 11 countries and the treaty. I thought only like 5-6 countries knew.

Then in an interview, Torri said....

"We have McKay, who's a Canadian. We have Grodin, who's British. We had in the last episode, which actually airs the third episode, we had a Czechoslovakian."

What the hell?!?! Why would Czechoslovakian know about it?! And isn't it the Czech Republic now. :)

I have been looking forward to this, for if nothing else to see if they still have it. If this episode is any indication of the season, I cant wait. I thought 7 as a whole was decent, but that some episodes werent the best.

This opening really felt to me like a motion picture, with the incredible special effects, and nice story line getting you ready for the sequel (in the case the season). The whole thing worked well.

The 11 countries are those that have a treaty over sharing Antartica, not those that know about the Goa'uld system lords.

Love the episode... except...

when did they stop with the weekly eye-glowing? It was very rare in season 7, and the trio this week didn't even twinkle once. I demand more eye-glowing from the baddies, darnitall. A sneer is just a smarmy sneer without a pair of evil flashing eyes to go with it. =(

Overall, the first part of New Order was pretty good. I liked how they played out with Yu 'showing his age.'

After all of the doubts, I am very proud of that cast/crew. They rock. I don't know, maybe that sounds awfully gung ho, but here's why:

1. Daniel and Elizabeth had great chemistry. Daniel looked sufficiently upset that he couldn't help in the way that he wanted to, and Elizabeth looked sufficiently in charge. The two made a great team, and it almost made me wish that Elizabeth was staying in THIS series. Almost.

2. Sam and Teal'c had a very cool (and highly overdue) friendship scene, which I digged immensely. The two actors played off of each other well, but would you expect any less with how long they've been working together? Wow! You mean... Teal'c and Sam are friends? Go figure. :)

3. The Goa'uld were very... smarmy, and in a good love-to-hate-em sort of way. I loved Amaratsu-whatsit's attitude - what a wench! And I liked how Yu started slipping. The guy from Andromeda (bless him) did a really good job, as well. I'm still in love with Yu's sidekick. He's very cute.

4. Fifth (Patrick Currie) definitely showed his age and maturity and, thus, change in character this ep. He's delusional and crazy, and I like him a lot. His chemistry with AT was very different (i.e. cool), and since this is the Season of Change, I like how they approached it.

;) I guess that pretty much covers Part One.

Let Season Eight roll. It's rockin' it so far. :D

This was a great episode. a 4.5 star episode I must say.Very action filled.

So much things will be expected of Season 8.

Amaterasu was so loveable and sexy in her own manner. She seems like the new "Hathor", which is soooo awesome. I loved camulus. He looked GREAT and he was GREAT... awesome stuff. Yu seemed out of it, like usual.

I can only wait for a transcript to come up so that I may savor more moments.

Really enjoyed the first part, and I agree about the glowing eyes. That's really the best part about being a Goa'uld, having your eyes glow.

Amaterasu was a great representative and thought she should have talked more. Shut up Camulus :), let the hot Goa'uld woman speak.

I also thought the ending was very effective, I could just imagine having to wait a week until the next one. That would have been torture.

Good one, from top to bottom. Love Dr Weir, she is on the mark. Funny when Daniel said, Stop, the jokes, the puns ,done to death, Seriously . So Daniel. What about the Asgard making a black hole for the replicators. I'll bet they are fun at a party. This was a good one, I watched it last night, when I got home from work, and I called my boss today and told her I was gonna be a little bit late so I could finish watching it again. [QUOTE=Calicto]Amaterasu was so loveable and sexy in her own manner. QUOTE]

It's about FREAKIN' TIME!!!

Amaterasu is only the Mother of All Japanese Emperors ... among other things. Also known as the Kami of of the Center of Heaven [i.e. the Sun Goddess]. If that doesn't qualify for a Gou'ald system lord, I don't know what does. Too bad it's taken up to Season 8 for TPTB to work her in to the pantheon.

And let's not forget her annoying, badly behaving, atrocity committing brother, Susa-no-o.

And for the next Hathor, how about Uzume? A little song, a little dance, a little strip-tease for the Jaffa and the fanboys??

If you want a Celtic version of Hathor, how about Maeve the Irish Warrior Queen of Connaught or the Morrigan?

Let's give evil Replicant Carter a little support in crashing the "villian boy's club."

Ok,ok, the Talk was great between Carter and Teal'c, and the cemistry between Dr Jackson and Dr. Wier was really good, but isn't anyone going to say anything on the gun Jack made. (Daniel)= I don't now, you tell us!... you made it. (Jack)=No (Daniel)=yes you did(Jack)=No(Daniel)=Yes(Jack)=No(Daniel)=yes (Thor)=The memory of the Angent are gone. That is so funny, and asking Thor for an asprine! Like he would have one in his pocket, oh waite he don't have pocketes. Asking Teal'c about his hair! twice. The gun!... is Jack the only one that can use the gun? The way he said (I got nothing) after he tapped the gun with his finger. In my opinion he ment I know something but, I'm not telling.

Finally, about a month after seeing it, I've got around to writing about New Order.

I really liked it. It was a great follow-up to Lost City and Unnatural Selection. It had everything Stargate does best - action, plot, tension, SFX, humour.... Every character was on-form.

The two plots - the Goa'uld situation and the Asgard/Replicator situation - were both great. The interweaving was pretty minimal (that's a good thing; too much interweaving = jumbled mess) and seamless.

Dr Weir and Daniel had lovely interaction. He seemed to be having a bit of fun keeping her a little off-balance; ("That's the good side?" "More like a slightly less dark side") and impressed by her ability to keep him and the Goa'uld off-balance ("We will?" and "I didn't know you wanted to be a System Lord" LOL)

The treaty with the Goa'uld is interesting. I love the way the Goa'uld don't even *try* to pretend to be friendly. I thought Weir came off well in the negotiating process. It was a nice way to address the Asgard Protected Plantets Treaty-cum-giant-paper-tiger. With the rapacity of the goa'uld well established it was never going to be believable that an ambitious Goa'uld wouldn't try their chances, especially since the Asgard hadn't engaged the Goa'uld since s2. This was good progression. I'm intrigued by Camulus. I hope something interesting comes of his defection.

Teal'c had some good lines. His comeback to Sam's "throw me a bone" - "How is Pete Shanahan?" LOL! But mostly what I noticed about Teal'c was what he was doing in the background - being ready with his gun in a very Teal'cy way, that sort of thing. As always, CJ is super in this ep.

Sam and Fifth work really well together. Fifth is a good successor to Reese. Where she had the capriciousness of a child, he has the frustration and self-righteousness of a teenager. Behind his new-found cruelty there are glimpses of the innocent he was two years ago, which makes his viciousness even more painful to watch. Poor Sam.

Jack just *loved* being interfaced with the ship. The lights, the being able to zip about... And hey, he's interacting with more than one person at a time, YAY! The bit about Teal'c's hair was a scream, it carried shades of Nemesis and Fallen but what it most brought to mind was DS9's Trials and Tribbleations.

I'm not really one for noticing Directing, Camerawork and such - or at least I didn't used to be, but I think all those Director Commentaries are having an effect. I thought this one was superbly directed and designed, especially the bits on Thor's ship, really atmospheric, and on Fifth's ship, really creepy. The shot of Sam in the replicator blocks had a heck of an impact ALTHOUGH NOT HALF AS MUCH AS IF SOME SPOILEY SO-AND-SO HADN'T SPOILED IT FOR ME ALL OVER THE PLACE </rant>.

I was at the end of the episode before I noticed Hammond wasn't there. It isn't that I don't think Hammond was just super, more that the story was such a ride that I was kept distracted from his absence. It's nice to see Jack in charge, I'm glad they're doing it because s7 didn't work for me as well as the rest of the show and mostly that was misuse of Jack (JMO) rather than underuse of him. Loved what Sam had to say; "We could end up with somebody much worse".

As for the very end - does this mean that Fifth and Repli-Sam are the last of the humanoid replicators? Do they now control the replicator collective? I hope that something big happens, Fifthwise, in later s8 or s9.

Now I can't wait to watch it again and pick up all the bits I missed cos I was talking to Gipsy and Sue. Sorry Gipsy and Sue if you missed bits because of me!

Madeleine

Okay, I had seen this in squinty vision, but now I've seen it full screen and I have to say...Wow! I enjoyed this.

Okay, love action Sam. I really like her taking charge, handing out the big guns..I think it shows how much she's grown. She really is ready to take command now.

Teal'c..big screen means I can see the emotion on his face when he think's Sam's dead. I swear I saw tears in the big guy's eyes. That was so moving, showing how close he's come to these people. He may still call her Major Carter, but he cares deeply about her.

Daniel...I really like this edgy, funny Daniel. Made me giggle a lot. Very Jack like.

Always good to see Thor. Replicator ship was cool. Replicators are scary. I didn't think the human replicator's were scary when we first saw them..I always believe it's a mistake making cold emotionless mechanincal villains human like, I think it makes them less scary. But fifth was chilling here. So unpredictable. So enjoying his capacity for cruelty. And the moments where he was torturing Sam were ....painful. (BTW, I thought I saw in Sam's visions as she was being tortured Jack being tortured by Ba'al...how can that be? She wasn't there).

So yes, I enjoyed this. great beginning. Looking forward to the rest.

So, where do I begin? ;)

Generally, in a overall summary, a really good episode, I enjoyed it very much, from beginning to end. Some interesting storylines involved.

Sam - Some good, onscreen time and action from her this time round, more than I actually expected to see from her.

Teal'c - So his favorite is turkey sandwiches huh? *hands one to Teal'c* Some good humour from Teal'c as always, giving off those standard phrases. I liked how Sam was saying to talk about something, his simple response yet when Teal'c asks a simular question, Sam gives a poor, shabby response!

Daniel - Some good team work with Weir in this episode. I liked how the deliberate humour was entered with the system lords, and being who and what they are, they don't have a clue what it means! The first scene he was in, a little slow for me, but overall was okay.

Weir - Not too sure on this. Some parts of her scenes I liked, others I didn't. I didn't like the way some of her humour was added in, that was a little off-putting as a first impression. But I hope this can progress in the future.

Overall, a good season opener, and a good cliffhanger to leave at for the following episode. Now, only another week to catch the next one! :D

Great episode.

Sam- very professional and liked how she blackmailed Weir.

Daniel- Loved snarky and 'dramatic' Daniel. Had good chemistry with Torri Higginson.

Teal'c- Liked the conversation between him and Sam. Going to have to get used to the hair, wierd with Teal'c having hair.

Weir- Actually liked her better than Jessica Steen. Was it only me or does she have a thing for Daniel.

Fifth- Loved his humour about not being at the compassion stage yet. Cracked me up.

Who could forget Thor. Always great to see the little guy.

Michelle: Sam was able to see Jack being tortured by Ba'al because in Unnatural Selection First was able to look into Jack's mind and First shared them with the others.

All in all, a great season opener. Bring on Part 2.

Pt I then: For me, a pretty awesome opener . ;)

I liked the new Goa'ulds, Amaterasu and Camulus. Great game of bluff/counterbluff throughout. Kudos to Dr Weir/DJ for chemistry and humour as a negotiating team....I have to say Bravo to Torri Higginson's debut as Weir.I like her !
Teal'c : with/without the hair,I always root for him. I enjoyed the Sam/Teal'c friendship scenes.
Lord Yu : oddly compelling as usual(even when spitting chunks of food out in obvious distaste !)

Thor : back and as cool as ever ! :D

Fifth : Hmmm....this Replicator knows the angst and betrayal, but is still working on the complexities of "being" .I pretty much agree with Madeleine's assessment.

Torture scenes : edited to imply, rather than to nail home the revenge factor.
To be honest,I prefer a bit of subtlety,as my Gatelets were watching, and they're still young enough to be upset by too much "squick".

The Replicator ship...son's description of "way cool" seems apt.
I liked the "Fifth emerges from the repli-block wall" scene....seemed some very good VFX !

Overall : I enjoyed this ep,but obviously the real oomph will come in Pt2 . :)

(BTW, I thought I saw in Sam's visions as she was being tortured Jack being tortured by Ba'al...how can that be? She wasn't there).
No, but the replicators would know about it after they went into Jack's mind in 'Unnatural Selection', and the reps are linked. So Fifth fed her those images as part of her torture. :)

I like Torri's Weir, and I really hope she gets a fair chance from others too.

(I also liked Jessica S as Weir,in Season 7,but I compartmentalise. She was "Then". Torri is Now and I applaud 'em both for their interpretations of what the role required :D ! )

Spoiler for Atlantis S1 I can hardly wait to really see Torri and the Gang in action next week onward !

Nearly all of what we see in this episode, New Order Part 2 and see in the next are images manipulated by Fifth. He may be using some of the stuff from Sam's mind, but he's also creating others entirely.

Really liked this episode.

There's nice chemistry between Daniel & Weir, more so than in TLC I think. (Should I start calling her Elizabeth now? Does anyone call her that in Atlantis?)

Oh god, poor Sam...those torture scenes were actually hard to watch.

Patrick Currie is very good at evil Fifth! That line "I'm not there yet" after Sam says that compassion is part of being human - that was chilling.

Absolutely love the Sam/Teal's stuff in the ship, I hope there's more of that...
And Teal'c is such a shipper!!! :D

Thor is so cool!!

I like the new system lords, and it's nice to see Yu's First Prime again.

Loved Daniel's "Don't, every joke, every pun done to death, seriously." LOL!

It was over so quickly, when it came up "To Be Continued", I was going what, already?!?

Ah, i see....so he could be sharing something that jack has tried to keep from secret from sam, that the other replicators got from jack? (ok, i am heading in a shippy direction, i admit)

Tori Higginson....I did really like Jessica Steen, but Tori convinced me, after a while. Nice interaction with Daniel (the game is over! too melodramatic?). I think I liked her best when she started to bluff.....good for her. there was something about her....like she'd stepped right out the West Wing (and I love west wing, so that's ok).

I also liked Ameratsu trying to flirt with Daniel...and getting nowhere...(First Goa'uld woman to fail at seducing Daniel..)

McKay occasionally, but not often. Slightly off topic Atlantis she seems to have decided in her own mind that she needs to keep a bit of a mental distance from the rest of the team. Maybe as things started to go wrong and as she realized she'd need to make many more life and death decisions ... it's really obvious in Home when she drives up to Simon's house and sees him you can almost see her melt, the emotion on her face was, I think, less to do with Simon and more to do with being with someone that she wasn't responsible for their life or death. Very well played, IMO.

Oh god, poor Sam...those torture scenes were actually hard to watch.

I also found that particular line from Currie chilling, it's one of the better acted breaking under torture scenes I think I've seen. It certainly made me really want to see him die, which is I think the sign of a good villin.

Loved Daniel's "Don't, every joke, every pun done to death, seriously." LOL!

Perfectly valid thing to explore in fanfic.

I'm sure she would have liked to have just walked off the West Wing set, probably better money ;) But I attribute it to the suit. I have a bunch of avatars from New Order of her waiting when I get to the magical point.

OK...

1. Very different feel coming into this. Possibly because of lack of Hammond and Jack. Very different dynamics as well.

2. Some mad stunts from Weir at the negotiating table - will be interesting to get to know her in Atlantis.

3. It was wierd for the Goa'uld not to do the glowy eyed thing.

4. "I'm not there yet" from Fifth. Stone cold. There is a reason why the humanoid Replicators are such class bad guys! :)

5. So where exactly is Sam if the Replicator ship is toast?(rhetorical - don't spoil)

season although it has a very differant feel
to it, Dr Weir came across very well and to
be honest i soon found that i'd forgoten that
she is being played by a differant actress and
i'm very much looking foreward to seeing her
in Atlantis.

Teal'c with hair! LOL now that's going to take
some getting used to:)

Poor Sam those scenes with 5th was very powerfull and painfull to watch, i really
do hope tptb don't dispatch 5th to soon as i
think that he makes one hell of a chilling
baddie, just looking at how he went from cold
hard nastyness to soft and tender wow!

1 - Perhaps because Hammond has left the show, and Jack isn't unfrozen yet! ;)

2 - Totally agree, some things she done, I don't think Hammond would have or to that, even Jack.

3 - The Gou'ald don't always do their glowy eyed thingy but it's a nice touch. I've noticed over the past three or four seasons, they don't seem to do it much, if at all.

4 - Fifth had all the right to get his own back on Sam, but it's Sam...nobody can do this! ;)

5 - Interesting...

An interesting storyline tying in 3 storys into one, that Replicator ship was awesome, and the idea of the Goa'ulds trying to make a treaty was creepy.

I'm quite relieved that this didn't totally suck, so no nitpicking from me. Yet.

But was it me or was it a bit strange having to have all these individual relationships emphasised so much? Daniel/Weir, Sam/Teal'c, Sam/Thor, Teal'c/Thor...

What's with Teal'c's hair? I can't believe Sam didn't try to wedge that one into their convo!!

The Daniel/Weir/SL stuff and the Sam/Fifth / Thor/Teal'c stuff all seems very disjointed. Good and dramatic and entertaining, but disjointed. This is definitely an episode that's better when watched with its Part 2, cos everything comes together quite neatly before you ahve a chance to switch off the television and mull it all over

I hated that little blond caterpillar he had for a while. I don't know why, but it really bugged me. That was the season that Carter seemed to dry her hair by plugging directly into the mains. :D
I know it was done to show that time passed while the SGC got the 2nd gate set up, but it looked like they had been off-world for months, not years.

Anyway, at least Teal'c is being allowed to grow his hair on camera. It would have been way too much of a shock, had he just appeared with a full head of hair.
Now, the question is, what style should he go for? Dreadlocks? Affro? The "Hendricks" style, as per "1969"? Or just crew-cut, as per regs?

An OK episode, seemed two much like it was slapped together from way to many previous SG episodes such as:
A Matter of Time (the balck hole. 'nuff said)
Fair Game (Goa'uld coming to earth; even had Yu. The Big big bluffing)
Small Victories (hyperdrive suicide tactics, Asgard beaming at precisely the right moment)
Exodus (blowing up a sun)
Unatural Selection (reps using the Time dilator to kick ass)
The Lost City Pt.1 (A ship will be here tomorro cliffhanger)

Well, it was done well but all the different elements were cut together badly. This epsiode in itself could have been explanded to fill a two parter.

There was way to much dialogue crammed in and the new Weir/Daniel dynamic didn't work very well and we have squat explanation for the hair!!!

... the new Weir/Daniel dynamic didn't work very well and we have squat explanation for the hair!!!

How well the dymanic works is a matter of perception I think (just look at the battles between Shippers and Anti-Shippers, everything is how the viewer percieves it).

I know there are already a few Weir/Daniel fics out there, based on New Order and bits of Rising Part 1. So obviously some people see chemistry there...

I'm not sure I buy all your similarities either (though I'll grant some of them). The Asgard are going to try tactics that they tried previously, and they have a fondness for timing with the beaming, so really in that way all Asgard episodes are going to be similar. Revelations is another beaming just in time thing... and since it's a followup to the human form replicator story, sure they're going to address how that one ended.

I'm also really not sure I buy that any episode with a black hole in it is going to be just like A Matter of Time.

Well I'm glad some out there saw sometihng in it. All the dialogue in this episode seemed off... Like a said it suffers from to much being crammed into the one episode. If they'd done a full season they could have made New Order a three parter...

Yea, ditto, fantastic.

Fav visual effect bit was when the replicator ship emerged from hyper space and was blown to smithereens.
I thought Asgard weapons had no effect on them, pity, it was a cool ship. Too bad Sam was on board, but we all know it is not her time yet. I will find it interesting how she gets out of the proverbial this time in part two. Also from many uncensored spoilers in this thread it looks like Jacks future is looking warmer in the next episode as well. (I'm assuming Australia got the same version of "New Order, Part 1 (801)" ?)

I am sorry if someone else has written a post along the same lines as this one. I gave up reading the tread half way though. "New Order, Part 2 (802)" has 390 post and "Affinity (807)" thread has 402 posts, which is even worse.

I just noticed one of the funniest Teal'c moments of the entire series in this episode. After they were beamed abord Thor's ship, Thor was explaining to them that the time dialation caused by the black hole was preventing him from communicating with them. Teal'c's response to this was "Indeed....or sum'in." He just had this little smirk on his face after Sam turned to look at him. It was hilarious! I had to go back and doublecheck to see if he really said it!

It was fascinating to see the Goa'uld system lords as tattered as they were, it was obvious that they were replacements for the system lords that had been assassinated. Anubis assassinating the umbrella structure of the Goa'uld was probably the reason we were able to defeat them. I do wonder why Baal didn't come, is he even a part of the system lords at this time? I wonder if he was already serving Anubis.

I thought the conversation that went back and forth between Sam and Teal'c was priceless. Not to mention the scene in which the ship is getting torn apart and Teal'c reached out and grabs for Sam in order to protect her. It was a sad scene when Thor apologizes to Teal'c for the seemingly apparent death of Sam. I know she apparently survived in a compartment of Replicators or something, but you would think the asgard would have picked it up on the sensors and destroyed it.

Yeah, why was there a change of actress for Weir?
And who ever heard of a goa'uld worrying about humans being enslaved as Camilus told Weir about Baal.
Besides, IF they defeated Baal, WHO WOULD GET THE KULL WARRIORS?!
I was almost beginning to think that there was hope that some goa'uld symbiotes that Camilus and Yu could be made into good people........

Well...we're now getting to the point where my original comment on this ep are viewable on this forum so what else can I say from a 2012 perspective...?

So the Asgard were there to help us.

Tomorrow, the conclusion. Will Jack & Sam survive?

A solid start to the season. Always love seeing the element of desperation amongst the once all powerful Goa'uld in this episode as they 'lower' themselves to negotiate with the Tau'ri. Whilst I liked Jessica Steen as Dr Weir, Torri Higginson picked up here seamlessly and gave a good performance with the poker face and the bluffing.

A good start to the season I reckon. Although part 2 is much better than part 1.

I'm glad Torri Higginsin is playing Weir now. Oh dear the replicators have escaped the time dilation thingie. Perfect timing by Thor. I have to say the interior of Thor's ship looks terrible. I know it's just a science vessel but still.

The Goa'uld sure are under pressure if they feel the need to negotiate with the Tau'ri. Laughed at Yu spitting out earths terrible food haha.

Funny you should mention how bad the interior of Thor's ship looked. I always wondered why until I saw the part of the set that they used to film that episode on one of the set tours. The wall lined with tin foil was still there and was just a part of the studio with a multi-purpose set with that wall, some walkways and metal steps that was just dressed up with other props wheeled in to make it stand in for Thor's ship, along with some tighter filming. This section was used for many scenes in SGA as well, standing in for 'Earth' based offices and parts of Atlantis.

This way they didn't have to rebuild the set that was built for 'Small Victories', due I think to space and cost saving issues with the Atlantis gateroom and SGC's gateroom taking up a lot of studio space along with the 'Prometheus' set, and not forgetting the 'village' set. All those sets were really quite large I thought whilst wandering around them.

As a whole I find S8 to best of all of SG1. Thier was no team and every episode was in the SGC on Earth. That said I quite like New Order both parts. This episode really sold Weir and got my interested in SGA. Weir was such a great person to taunt the Goa'uld in their negioations. I just liked seeing her butt head with the rest of the Goa'uld. The Replicators returning to foil the Asgard was preditible but at the same time I liked it. I especially like the interaction between Sam and Fifth. He has the mind of a child but with immense power. Fifth is throwing a tantrum because Sam betrayed him. Its interesting to see how much she wants her suffer.

I'm happy with Torri Higginson in the role of Dr. Weir, yet I've always wondered: why was the original actress was replaced? Does anyone know?

I really liked this one. Asgaard, replicators, Goa'uld. Yes, lots of action, and part 2 was also great. Very good season opener

I've always assumed she looked too "girly", since they made a point of putting Torri in pants.

I liked this episode.
Although Sam's discussion with Teal'c was weird. I thought it was a bit out of character. but I liked Teal'c's "knowing" smile when she said it was hard to say goodbye someone you cared because you don't know if you're ever going to see them again. I felt a little shippiness there. Well, it was kind of odd that Sam would go only save Jack, she has a boyfriend, she's supposed to be in love.

I liked new Dr. Weir. I mean, no offence to Jessica Steen but she could have never kicked those Goa'uld butts like Torri did. :D

I'm pretty sure I noticed a red phone identical to Gen. Hammonds on the wall of Daniel Jacksons office in this episode. Does this mean Daniel has a direct line to the President?

Nice opener with lots of hints for things to come. Thor, Replicators, the bad guys, the good guys - everybody was there and accounted for. I missed Maybourne - kidding!
