I've always though the 'newer' ones were kind of weird, i thought it used to be scary, but i changed my mind once i grew up, haha...

I like the new Outer Limits, I love the endings and it's just good television. I think I recall seeing "The Manifest Destiny", but I don't remember seeing Michael Shanks, perhaps because it was about a month before I started watching SG1. It was a good episode IIRC, I'm thinking it's the one with the electrical charge in the stranded ship....right?
