As to why the wraith have such big teeth well no ones quite sure

But the face plates on drones COULD be a kind of Helmet. From a design perspective the face plates rob drones of their individuality - reinforcing the idea that they are the souless grunts of the Wraith war machine.

But from a practical RL perpective Wraith face make up is costly and takes hours to apply - its much more cost effective to hide the drones faces and this allows alot more of them to appear in a scene

I agree. I think it's a cost factor and to hide their individuality...like stormtroopers. And I like that route...big, grunts who's only purpose is to attack. They are not smart...but there are alot of them to make up for it. I think they are made dumb in order to keep them under control.

I think 2 other reasons might be that it's something left over from their evolution and the sharp teeth might help a wraith attack a human kind of like when many other predators attack their prey.

There is actually a pic of the orginal design of the wraith helmet on the scifi site and it shows where the bit for the eyes should be but that's still covered. Maybe the wraith are supposed to be able to still see somehow. I wanted to copy and paste the pic here but for some reason the gallary on the site wouldn't load properly but if you look in the abstract art section you'll come across it, unless it's been removed. I agree the reason for this probably is the cost.

I made a thread a while ago about the amount of time the Wraith have evolved hoping to explain why they still had mouths. I think everyone generally agreed that the amount of time the Wraith have been around isn't long enough for them to completely give up the mouth and teeth. I can't find the thread but i'll keep searching for it.

I eat with my hands, and I still have a couple teeth left.

Obviously, my good fellow, they have all those sharp pointy teeth as tis the height of etiquette during their socials at the clubhouse, to pick them with the bones of their human hosts.

As for faceplate, well, since they’re not privileged to the social teeth pickings, the upper class would rather the drones have eyestrain than have to have to deal with the (whew) breath.

The thing that's hard to explain about their teeth is why they're jagged and shark/reptilian like. Neither of their ancestor species has teeth like that so that rules them out as vestigial. They have to have been evolved after the merger for the express purpose of ripping into and consuming flesh the Wraith needs to eat for some reason. Teeth like that don't just come about by accident, or they shouldn't if we want to examine it logically instead of just saying "they have sharp teeth because it makes them scarier and the writers don't likely have a rationale for how they got them either" which is the "out of story" answer.

As to explaining it in story I've been pimping around the theory that young Wraith need to eat physical mass in order to grow and that's why they have the sharp teeth. Mommy and daddy drain the guy most of the way cause that's all they need now, junior gets what's left and he strips the bones so he can grow.

From instinct it's shown that wraith eat normally until they are 15 yrs old. Still they would have probs chewing unless there's molars at the back that we don't see or those teeth come out as they get older.

I've wondered about why they have sharp pointy teeth as well. My only theory is that humans once evolved from carnivores with sharp teeth. Perhaps the DNA they incorporated from humans still has the code for those characteristics. It may also be possible that the teeth developed as a part of their own evolution, separate from humans. When they used to chew their food rather than suck the life out of it. It's a bit of a stretch but right now it's the only one I've got.
