How do you get it off overtype mode?

Sometimes when I'm typing a post it all of a sudden gets in overtype mode and it drives me absolutely crazy! So does anyone know how to get it off of overtype mode?
I know this could very well be me having issues with Internet Explorer rather than the forum, but can someone help me?!...please!

Try hitting the Insert button on your keyboard.

That will work in 99.9% of case but if it doesnt try shift+insert

... Or possibly if it doesn't try restarting your computer.

... Or kicking it.

Yeah kicking it usually solves my problems , or just deleteing every process till the problem stops..
