    Atlantis Scifi Site Update

Scifi's official Stargate Atlantis site has been updated once again to include a functioning tech section.

It includes some of the technology used in Rising, nothing really new but the it is nice. Each piece of tech has an explanation of what it is and some of finer points of each that you prbably never knew.

    The Category Ordnance includes...

    9mm sidearm
    P90 Submachine Gun
    Taser

    The Category Equipment includes...

    Dial Home Device (DHD)
    Garage Door Opener (GDO)
    Moblie Analytic Laboratory Probe (MALP)
    Zero-Point Module (ZPM)

    The Category Vehicles includes...

    Puddle Jumper

That's it so far, but I'm sure as the season progresses we will see it fill up with new technologies seen in season 1 of Stargate Atlantis.

    Most interesting entry for DHD...
Portable remote-control device that sends a radio signal with the sender's personal identification code (IDC) that activates a Stargate. Built into the console of the Puddle Jumper.
    Compare to GDO...

Handheld remote-control device that sends a radio signal with the sender's personal identification code (IDC) that allows a Stargate to open its iris.
It appears whoever wrote this isn't exactly familar with the show. It's either that, or they'll find some cool portable (in a practical manner, that is) DHDs that can be programmed to send an IDC and the Atlantis dialing computer can be programmed to open its "iris" upon recieving the IDC.

Edited to add: The info for the puddle jumper says it's one of five Ancient spacecraft found in Atlantis. Hopefully not all of these ships puddle jumpers, the Ancients surely travelled to non-Stargate-bearing worlds in something else besides their cities.

    Cogito ergo dubito.

An escalator can never be broken, it can only become stairs. You never see "Escalator temporarily out of service." It's "Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience." - Mitch Hedberg

...a previz shot of a puddle jumper flying away from a planet being chased by other ships, before retracting its wings and flying through an open stargate hovering in space, with a attached device(s) to hold it there. One other ship follows it through. Also in the feature, Brad Wright mentions he had wanted to make a ship like this for ages, in order to better explore other worlds, but the cash/opportunity didn't exist for some time, and then with Atlantis on the horizon he saw an opportunity for it and saved the idea. There is another shot of it racing accross a white (still previz) landscape, like the cargo ship in Lost City, before shooting over a ridge and flying down towards the City.

The site says the puddle jumpers are "One of five Ancient spacecraft found in Atlantis". I wonder if that means they find 5 "puddle jumpers" or they find 5 different types of ships.

I think they mean five diffent ships because of the info in the episode "38 Minutes".
It’s the show that doesn’t end, it goes on and on my friends, some people started watching not knowing what it was, but they will be watching forever just because it’s the show that doesn’t end…..
