Very cool. It's nice that you guys have these things in video format. (I didn't realize that before.) Being able to see it adds a great deal to the overall interview.

Nice, but he was way too reserved at the beginning. I got the impression that David/Darren was trying to drag the answers out of him, it was like:

"Come on Joe, give us something here"

ROFLMAO :D

But after the first few minutes, he got going and he sounds very cool.

Thanks D/D and Joe :)

Nice interview, but did anyone else get the feeling that Joe seemed slightly... I dunno, uncomfortable at times? :S As if he wasn't really sure what to do/say?

Qasim

I agree he did seem uncomfortable - maybe it was because people had been asking him questions allday and he had enough

Perhaps you should tell the person being interviewed the questions beforehand, give them some time to think and then film it.

You made a mistake on the content metadata section:

The clip is titled 'Nykl':

Yeah, I think that's why I liked seeing the video here so much. I couldn't really tell for sure just from reading interviews that people had posted online, but I think JF's default position is "introverted." He's the type that likes being around people, but is more comfortable letting someone else be the center of attention. Probably makes being the lead of a TV show kinda difficult, and I'm actually appreciating being able to see him trying so hard to get over it.

Thanks again for this, GW!

Oh, my.

WOW!

Darren and David, what a fantastic interview. You always do a wonderful job at GateWorld, but this interview...just wow.

Joe Flanigan certainly knows who he is and where he is at in this point of his life and career. How refreshing to see a young man with his talent and potential being so honest; charming; aware of his responsibilities not only to himself, but to his fellow actors and the staff/crew of the series -- and the fans of the series; open to change; and aware that this could be fleeting but for the grace of...

Thank you SO much for all your hard work, and thanks to Joe Flanigan for sharing his time with you and utlimately with all of us.

Well you have to take into consideration that this was at the Vancouver Creation Con and this was his first real fan run convention experience. He'd done San Diego Comic Con, which is in no way like a Creation Con, and he'd just got done doing photo ops then his panel and then signing tons of autographs. So he was probably more tired than uncomfortable. When he first arrived at the hotel he was greeted by tons of people who were waiting in line for their photo ops yelling "Hi Joe" and "We love you Joe!". His face when he saw everybody was pretty priceless. He seems like a reserved guy anyway and I imagine being faced with a crowd makes it even more so. He was very nice and very much a gentleman during the photo ops (standing and shaking hands with each person) but I was a bit worried that he would be completely overwhelmed by the panel. However, he did a really excellent job. He seemed completely at ease on stage and very funny. I just think that it was really great of him that he would give that interview after the full day that he had. And the rumor was that it was his son's birthday that day too so I'm doubly impressed.

I think it was a great interview!
Thanks so much to Darren and David and Joe!
Joe did seem tired,(not surprising after a day like that), but he comes across as just an average, humble and normal guy, which is very refreshing.
He also seems to appreciate the support of the fans, which is lovely too.

I've heard several times that Joe is quite the introvert. Remember that introverts expand a lot of energy when they deal with people, and recharge with solitude. Extroverts are the opposite - they draw energy from crowds and feel bored when they are alone. He obviously had a very long day and was quite drained.

As an introvert myself, I really admire him for doing these cons - it has to be nerve wracking and exhausting. Joe also seems to be just the average guy from the neighborhood. Refreshing change from the attitudes that other stars develop.

Very nice interview. Thanks guys!

Joe is a really, really nice guy -- though, as the early moments of this interview reveal, a challenging interview. He's not really one to pontificate (or elaborate, unprompted), and he doesn't like commenting on things he hasn't done or seen yet.

Yeah, it was kinda funny he said "I'm a very social guy" or something, and yet he seemed very reserved...I guess he was just overworked from the convention...that happens sometimes (remember Galaxy Quest?) :D :p

Thanks David and Darren for all you do to keep us "Gating".

I saw the Joe's Vancouver con appearance just before that interview. Considering that it was his first solo flight I thought he was great. It would be exhausting to do that and then continue to be interviewed afterwards. In my book Joe's a real 'trooper' for doing cons. Looking foward to seeing him at another con in the future.

Again thanks to David and Darren too :)

I have to agree. I didnt think he was overly reservered either. Seemed like a champ to me.

But we fans need to remember that good ol' Joe is new to the religion of Stargate Fandom. :o We are a pretty intense bunch.

I hope he gets his photos soon the fan mail has got to be stacking up. Poor bugger

True some of the answers did seem a bit guarded, didn't they?

But I guess he has to watch what he says in case he gives any spoilers away that he's not supposed to. 'Cos that would be a tradgedy :D

Anyhoo I still think he's a nice guy. :)

I think Joe did great for someone who seems a little shy of the attention at times. I'm just glad he at least attempts to do these things for us guys... :)

LOL...Joe thought he got torture when they filmed 'Condemned' (re: SciFi Friday Special)...after replying to all that mail, he's gonna have serious writer's cramp... :p

LOL...Joe thought he got torture when they filmed 'Condemned' (re: SciFi Friday Special)...after replying to all that mail, he's gonna have serious writer's cramp... :pThis reminds me of the simpsons episode when Ringo Starr finally replies to Marges letter:

Meanwhile, somewhere in England... Ringo is surrounded by bags of
mail with the word `mail' on them, in various languages.

Dear Sally. In response to you letter of December the 12th 1966,
me favourite colour is blue, and me real first name is Richard.
Thanks for the snapshot. You're a real cute bird. Love, Ringo.
PS: Forgive the lateness of my reply.
-- Ringo Starr answering his backlogged fan mail, ``Brush with Greatness''

Ringo explains to his butler that he insists on responding to every
single piece of fan mail. The next letter is Marge's painting.

Dear Marge. Thanks for the fab painting of Yours Truly. I hung
it on me wall. You're quite an artist. In answer to your question,
yes, we do have hamburgers and fries in England. But we call French
fries `chips'. Love, Ringo. PS: Forgive the lateness of my reply.

Very nice interview. Thanks guys!

I'm sure I've read somewhere that he was really introverted as a kid -- don't remember where though. He's probably similar now. A lot of showbiz types are kind of quiet, but switch on for the cameras, audience, etc.
Makes him more appealing as far as I'm concerned. Seems like a nice, normal, family-type guy.

Very well said. Joe has confessed that he was indeed very shy when younger, and as a shy person myself I know it's something you never quite get over. Kudos to him for putting himself out there. He seems to have a genuine affection for his fans which is returned in great abundance. His very obvious normalcy and love for his family makes him very special in my book, and his acting ability will keep me watching as long as he's on the screen. Thank you Gateworld, and thank you Joe.

How funny..."I'm not really sure that I have the mental capacity to make that recall right now."
