    Wraith farms

Am i the only one to think of this or is there some hidden reason to why Wraith dont have farms?

    #2
The Wraith don't have "farms" in the traditional sense for two reasons:

    Vulnerability and Logistics.

Farms make tempting targets, and once a farm is knocked out, it disrupts the food supply.

Logistics of running a farm, and then distributing the "produce" would require a fair amount of man-power (wraith-power?) and resources.

In a way the Wraith do have farms. The planets they cull are their "farms." Wraiths don't have traditional farms as we know them (as far as we know from watching Atlantis).

I would call them hunting grounds, since the source is "wild".

Dude not really if they had taken time during their 10,000 years of rain to slowly build a place that could house 200,000 and theres probably over a billion wraith it wouldnt be that hard because then once they built the farms they could make the humans have sex with each other makeing a lot of babis an keep it clean of veriuses besides commomn colds and such so they dont get sick that would increase how many humans they had to feed on so more could be awake
because for by the time atlantis showed up they could have had hundreds of billlions of people in farms. Anyaways what else have the WRaith been building in the last 10,000 years theyve just beeen culling and letting civilizations get more advanced.

You would think a space faring civilization with teleportation technology and advanced genetic know how would know how to mass clone humans, and lobotomize them when they are still baby (as not to cause trouble)

It really makes no logical sense why wraiths don’t have human farms, but maybe it will be explained in later episodes.

              see you agree.

And if they try and say later its because they like stronger meat then they could have them train in there and even have small rewards especially not letting them know about feeding. While still keeeping them intelligient if they like that by even teaching them up to algebrae. or higher while still not haveing them be able to escape at all. or not want to.

It's probably going to be because they "enjoy hunting" so much they're willing to risk species wide mass starvation for the sake of that fun element.

More realistically there is no good reason, none what so ever. They want the Wraith to be scary and this hunting people for food idea is the best way they can think to do it apparently.

Shame to because if they did it right they could very easily make the whole farming/mass processing of humans idea way more terrfiying and gruesome to behold than what the Wraith do now.

Throw me in with the "makes no logical sense that they don't" crew.

Edit: It's also worth noting that there's no reason why they couldn't have farms for basic food needs and still hunt people for enjoyment/a better tasting meal if those aspects were really important to them.

I would call the worlds they cull farms as the source is "free range".

How do we know the Wraith don't.

Well since their sustenance is alive, I think they would be called ranches. That being said, and with their proneness to hibernate when stocks are low, it bodes well that they consider each lanet with humans on it as separate, interstellar ranches. Hence the phrase: "culling the herds."

They have what you might call 'game reserves', more than farms, and the reason probably comes down to zip, vim, vigour. If you keep people in pens, they'll be depressed, enervated; the meat might be fine, but the person won't be good eats for a creature that jams on 'life force'.

Why do they need farms when they can take their pick of any world in the pegasus galaxy

I think the opportunity for farms came and went. When they first began culling, then, was the right opportunity, but when they overdid it they lost the opportunity as they then HAD to go into hibernation. If you're all sleeping you can't oversee a farm. The longer you're awake the more food you need, the less you're saving for your sleeping friends. It was probably easier to take the course that they were naturally inclined to. Farms require administration and aadministration is tedious and makes you hungry

If they had farms and breeding stock they wouldn't have to hibernate everytime they ran low on food. Their civilization as a whole would grow and develop faster and be much more stable and secure in its future.

ok seriously it would not require that many wraith since they have advamced computers and they would not be depressed if they had to congregate a lot and were lied to so they thought that when you went to get fed on you were actually going to another place that was better. Plus they could have recreational grounds i think this would be the most efffective because each women would have at least 12 babies that lived apposed to 2 or 3 so there would be huge ammounts of food for the WRaith and eventually the WRaith would never have to hunt just let there computers keep them in there and they could have there runners like ronon.
