What!?!? No comments on Urgo? I know some of you hate him but others love him.

Personally, I loved this episode. I think Dom DeLuise is hilarious and his performace here was classic. I also really enjoyed the idea of having this alien device implanted in your brain. To some degree I think it would be really cool but I'm sure it would eventually get annoying.

So what do you think?

This was a great episode. I loved the bit with Teal'c and the paddles in the Infirmary.....makes me laugh every time. Ooh, and the bit where they're all singing! Hearing Teal'c sing cracks me up!

Yeah, but what was with RDA's weak rendition of Row, Row, Row Your Boat? Is he tone deaf, or what?

I think the exchange between O'Neill, Teal'c and Jackson when viewing the initial MALP playback was very good. That whole "Appearances may be deceiving." bit..

Did anyone else catch Peter DeLuise in this one?

Well, at least I think it's him. He pops in when Urgo changes into the AF officer to be more appealing Carter.

This was an ep. I have grown less fond of, as time has passed. I thought it was an absolute scream the first time I watched it, but I'm not so enamoured now. I can't explain why, though.

I love this ep. I especially love the scene where Sam is walking down the corridoor followed by Janet and Hammond.

"Urgo that's rude!"

One of the few times we get to see Amanda's comedic talents and its lovely.

This episode ranks right up there... or right down there with the two Star Trek TOS episodes with Harry Mudd for me.

I thought it was funny the first time but now it just takes up space on of my DVDs.

It is not one I would like to watch over and over again.

Ahhh... one of my faves now... that was Peter DeLuise? Oooh makes sense, Dom is a fortunate man to have such talented offspring! Hahaha... he was comedy gold on this, I missed watching him on Candid Camera and there's a good connection too!

I liked the whole theme of Urgo wanting to live vicariously and experience all the senses... that part with all the food was AWESOME :D

Did anyone else question why when they came back through the gate both times there were soldiers pointing guns at them?

or why they didnt splatter on the iris?

If the general didnt know who was coming through the gate, the iris would be closed. and if they did send their IDC through (or the alien dude did) why were there scary looking soldiers with guns?

just because they were gone for 15 hours the first time doesn't really mean anything. We're not told exactly how long a standard mission is supposed to take (I imagine it changes for each world, and thus each ep, but they would almost certainly have a general idea when they're supposed to head back)

or am i read the ep all wrong?

Did anyone else question why when they came back through the gate both times there were soldiers pointing guns at them?

I would assume any time they open the iris they would point guns at the 'gate. It would just make sense that they be prepared in the event that the person(s) coming through the gate weren't SGC personnel or allies.

Jafana
June 18th, 2004, 11:50 PM
but they dont!
there are many times that they dont have scary looking guns facing the gate.

perhaps in this instance they (SG-1) were overdue. and when that happens they start pointing guns.

otherwise, when it's an expected incoming wormhole, they dont bother.

SaharaGate

Did anyone else question why when they came back through the gate both times there were soldiers pointing guns at them?

Yeah, you're right. That is odd.

But I guess the first time, they were REALLY overdue for a mission that looked to be low-risk (a beach planet for crying out loud lol), which would immediately tweak with Hammond that something strange happened (and it wasn't that Carter wanted to work on her sun-tan).

The second time they were extra-cautious because they knew something had been done to SG1 the first time around. The person, or people, on this planet were regarded as potentially (or actually) hostile and Urgo had kept insisting they would be killed if they went back.

Since this 'race' was capable of mental manipulation, there was no way of knowing what would come through this time, particularly since they were overdue again (which would suggest they'd been tampered with again).

Jafana
June 19th, 2004, 06:23 PM
lol, that actually makes a whole lot of sence.

man, i wish the beach planet had been real. SG-1 really need a holiday.

ohhh i just realised, i think they used that same scene in the quantum mirror in point of view when daniel was playing around with it.

The episode was funny... but it didn't necessarily advance the series along.

What was that alien thing in that the urgo guy demoed the procedure on.

It looked like a muppet but more creepy.

This was definitely one of this season's best episodes. Urgo was so annoying yet, you couldn't wait until the next scene with him.

Yes, that's Dom DeLuise (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001123/), who, among his other roles, voiced "Tiger" in the American Tail movies.

He's also the father of SG-1 director/producer Peter DeLuise (http://imdb.com/name/nm0217938/).

Urgo is one of my favourite episodes/characters, as well-- but I'll comment later. ;)

I think this is the 6pm episode tonight. I can hardly wait, as this is one of my favorites. I laugh through the entire thing, it's so funny. Dom DeLuise is a hoot at any time, and especially good in this. It's hilarious watching the cast try and keep a straight face while he's doing his 'thing.'

This is one of the few episodes where I'm watching actors, though, rather than characters. While nobody is *out* of character, after listening to the DVD commentary, I'm now very much aware that Dom is trying to make them laugh and they're trying to stay in character.

This is the first time I've really LOOKED at the poor SF in the background during the "infirmary scene".
That actor must have had a b**ch of a time keeping a straight face, too. You can see him fidgiting, looking everywhere and, once in a while, stifling a laugh.
I wish this was one of the eps that had commentary.

Michael was on Gilmore Girls on Tuesday and Lost yesterday (in a flashback). Then Dom yesterday. It's been a whole big DeLuise week. giggle.

While I liked the individual lines and laughed my ass off something doesn't quite hang together in this epi. The words "trying too hard" come to mind.

Dom DeLuise is a bit larger than life, isn't he? There wasa tendency for him to go OTT in this episode, but what I really enjoy watching are SG-1 and comparing the different reactions they each have.

Personally I think URGO is one of the great SG-1 episodes in the 3rd Series. Now as SG-1 has evolved over the years, I think it would be great to re-establish URGO or his creators and their technology in a new episode.

The fact that they could implant and extract objects directly into the body without surgery, and create such sofisticated wireless networks, the potencial for backwards engeneering is great.

Hopefully the show crew might fit it in somewhere!

Personally I think URGO is hilarious. Hate him or Love him situation I think :)

I recently watched Dom DeLuise's appearance in the Muppet Show...it was way back in 1977...and it was as hilarious as his Urgo character.

It included a song he performed with 'alien' puppets, quickly changing into a mad version of whack-a-mole and Dom stuffing an apple into Miss Piggy's mouth - "it looks more natural". ;)

Just wanted to share this. I enjoy Dom DeLuise every time I see him.
"Me me me me me me me." :)

Equally great the Wizard of Oz reference he delivers: "I'm melting, I'm melting. Oh, what a world."

Well this episode was just on Sky today and I just thought I would come back and say that I forget how much I like this episode. I know he is found annoying by many people and by goodness he is. But its the team's reactions to him that make this ep so funny. Poor Teal'c gets quite picked on, the bit where he gulps down the scalding coffee is spot on. When Sam is nearing a solution to getting rid of Urgo and he is distracting her is great - when he makes her spill the coffee on herself  I really have found that no matter how many times I have seen this episode I still laugh as loudly - and I have to say so did the kids. :D

This is another cracking episode and one that definitely resides in the 'Chaka's Mum's Faves' collection.

I'm not in the least surprised that Urgo drives some people up the wall - it appears to be his raison d'etre really!

*sits at briefing table*

"Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me.
Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me.
Etc. etc."

And that moment when he decides that they're going to play hide and seek - covers eyes and counts in a long monotone drone:

"OOOONNNNEEE, TWWWWWOOOO, TTHHHREEEEE...."

Who wouldn't want to smack him in the gob for that? I know I would.

Great fun from start to finish - loved Pete's small cameo as well!

I really didn't like this ep all that much *dodges flying objects* . Urgo was just TOO annoying for me. I know that was the point, and I did find SG1's reactions amusing, but Urgo's annoyingness overwhelmed everything for me. I have a very short fuse when it comes to annoying characters.

I did find the idea of the brain implant/shared hallucination and this way of exploring the world very interesting, however. It's a shame that we didn't get to share some tech with the creator dude (what a surprise, eh?).

As for comedic moments, I thought Sam, Teal'c, and Hammond were all particularily funny in this episode, so their lines were the highlights for me.

Chaka's_Mum
April 15th, 2005, 12:04 AM
Hey, I'm not gonna throw nutt'n' at yer. Urgo is (insert appropriate expletive here) annoying. He's like someone's little kid brother who just won't stop clamouring for attention when you go round to their house for tea.

In my case, Urgo was amusing (just about) - whereas other annoying characters (not on Stargate - other programmes) make me switch off even as the opening titles roll.

But, as you said, despite having to put up with his sheer irritating-ness, Urgo's a great foil for the other characters and they get the opportunity to come up with some classic moments - such as the already quoted 'Urgo, that was rude!'. Janet Frasier having to address empty air - and then be redirected to the right bit of empty air was also a nice touch.

As for the misery he was inflicting on SG1. That irritation was so beautifully demonstrated by Jack in the Briefing Room when he yelled at Urgo to shut up and stop singing 'Me, Me, Me, Me...'.

What a pity he was forced to address that to empty air - no wonder Hammond's jaw was on the floor.

This was good, a bit of a break after many more serious episodes. It seems that in the hall Hammond calls Frasier, "Teryl" instead of Doctor or Janet.

The "row, row, row, your boat" bit seemed like homage to Star Trek 5.

Well, seems like we're on a roll here. I liked the episode too. I thought Dom DeLuise was fantastic and I also don't know how they managed to film it, with all the jokes that must have been going on. I loved Urgo's constant need for attention, and his constant warnings that the team not return to the planet, to get him out their heads. To me, Urgo was real, not a program, and I know he felt that way to the others. I won't go into my favorite funny scenes, as you have already hit on most of them. ;)

Glad so many others appreciated and enjoyed this very funny episode! :D

Ah, yes - the ghastly quartet! That was fun. Just like the moment when Urgo-in-Jack discovered the joy of desserts - and everyone else just dropped what they were doing and joined him. That moment when the camera pulls back over an almost bacchanalian scene of sweet and creamy goodies...yum...

Though it was a bit of a risky business - as demonstrated when Urgo prompted Teal'c to go play with the defibrillator!

Loved this ep. It's too bad they couldn't control Urgo a little more- if all four of them had a kind of telepathy between each other, that would be a huge asset in the field.

What was good:
a. Urgo. The DeLuis family is brilliant. That's all.
b. Oh, and Urgo reminds me of my Da. Wonder if Da has any relations named Irving.
c. 'Team' humor. This ep was character-centric; it flowed smoothly between RDA, AT, MS, and CJ. Hence we got a lovely display of hilarity from four different directions.
d. Writing. Silly but not stupid [such as 'Wormhold X-Treme!'].
e. Plot. Improbable...but works.
f. AT. I know I'm partial to AT in general, but it seemed to me that she did epsecially well with this one. I forget how good she is at comedy sometimes ['Random Acts', anyone?].
g. RDA was good too...but not as good as AT. [shrugs]
h. Hammond & Frasier. What do you do when a bombastic invisible man is implanted in the team's heads, anyway? During the 'row row row your boat' part, I swear you could see Frasier thinking, "Where is this in my job description?!"
i. Oh, hell. Everything.

I thought they all handled the 'empty air' bits really well. It would have been really straightforward when Dom was in shot, but when they were having to address no one at all - not an easy thing to do.

Respect on all fronts there.

I think that, were Urgo to have moved in indefinitely, 'the rest of my life' would suddenly become a very short amount of time.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the part where Urgo says to Jack, "You know, you were just thinking about that island Maui, with the big beaches and little bikinis. That's where we should go because it's very nice and warm there – instead of being here," and there's just this 'look' he gets from Sam--does anyone else think that was priceless?

I was laughing most of the way through this episode, right from the first words Urgo said *boring*. I have to agree in real life I would have jumped over a cliff if he was stuck in my head permanently.
But the character/actor was great and it was nice to see SG1 in more normal surroundings. Teal'c drinking the coffee, all of them pigging out in the canteen and the singing were really funny. And when Urgo said *me or death, death or me, your choice* and jack said *we're thinking about it* had me rolling about (I'm strange like that).
I was almost sad to see him go at the end! ;)

Urgo was on last night and I have to say I really love this episode. (People usually seem to have a *love it/hate it* reaction to it.....) It was so much fun watching Jack, Sam, Teal'c and Daniel deal with Urgo---nice break from business-as-usual for SG-1. I would have loved having lunch with them---some of those cakes looked really good....(hmmm....cake...)

As someone already said, I'd hate to have him stuck in my head, but it was fun watching SG-1 interface with him. Urgo was actually a cuddly sort of character---made me wonder about Sam's Uncle Irving---I can only imagine what Sam's family gatherings must have been like! :p

Some of my favorite lines:

Togar: "Do not move, or I will render you unconscious! If necessary."

Urgo: "I'd rather be in that thing with the eyes and the – NO."

Daniel: "How do we know Urgo's still alive?"
Urgo: "Oh! I'm here! I'm here! Tell them I'm here!" (or something along those lines)
Togar: "I will tell them when you are quiet!"
Daniel and Jack (in unison): "He's alive."

Oy, what an idea. Urgo in a robotic body (I'm assuming that's what you're referring to) interacting with the real world, and now he can annoy the heck out of everyone at the SGC (although he'd probably like hanging out with SG-1 the most, them being such good pals and all:D ).

I had the idea after Avalon part one, the Robotic body (the one the two scientists proposed to Mitchell in that episode)is built, and the experiences from Carter/Daniel/Teal'c are uploaed, in their minds are traces of the Urgo experiences, which are uploaded, along with a trace of the Urgo programme which takes control of the body, and going on its merry way annoying SG-1 in every way he can.

Dom is just brilliant at playing him, so annoying yet something about him is just adorable! I loved the first time they see him and they all chant unbidden "Hello Urgo" and when they all started singing. Oh, and the way he kept saying "But he's boring...and mean....and mean and....boring" Amanda was wonderful in the way she interacted with him!:)

I loved this episode. I love Dom. There are so many good scenes and lines in this ep I can't think of any of the top of my head.

I love the fact that Teryl had to bite the inside of her cheeks to keep a straight face in the boardroom scene when Dom was sitting beside her. She said among other things he would blow into her ear as she was delivering her lines.

I wonder if Janet didn't suggest hiring a row boat what song SG1 might have ended up singing.

Wonder what Urgo did that was so rude?

A few weeks ago, I rewatched “Urgo,” and I forgot how much I loved that episode. I am so amused when people think the team is nuts because they are talking to nothing. And I love the cafeteria scene where they guys are stuffing their faces and Carter is chowing down on blue jello!

Anyway, last Thursday night, I had dinner with my mom, stepdad, sister and brother-in-law. For dessert, my stepdad made cheesescake and strawberry pie. My mom was dishing out dessert, and when she asked me, “What do you want?” I said “I want to live, I want to experience the universe, and I want to eat pie.” I said this in front of people who have never watched SG-1 before. They all just stared at me as I laughed and laughed. It probably wasn’t very funny, but having watched “Urgo” about a million times, it was funny to me! Of course, I didn’t feel the need to explain anything to them, so I think they all think I am nuts now. But it was good pie!

Personally, I loved this episode. I think Dom DeLuise is hilarious and his performace here was classic. I also really enjoyed the idea of having this alien device implanted in your brain. To some degree I think it would be really cool but I'm sure it would eventually get annoying.

So what do you think?

I love Urgo! This would have to be the funniest episode for SG1. It may not be the best but it's definately the funniest. The first time I saw it, I couldn't wipe the smile of my face for hours. Hmm. It's a tempting idea, isn't it?

Fun though it sounds; if I'm honest, I'm not so sure what potential there is to have Urgo come back. Much as I enjoyed the episode (and I did), I can't see where a 'return of Urgo' ep would actually be able to go. He's been in their heads, he's annoyed the pants off them (not literally! :o ) and he's been sent home again. Job done. All we would have would be "Urgo comes back - gets in their heads, annoys the pants off them, gets sent home again". He's not capable of being an active character - he's in their minds and therefore cannot interact with anyone unless they act as a proxy (Urgo! That's rude! :D )

Even bringing him back as an 'active' character wouldn't have the same impact (i.e. the guy he ended up in returning to Earth with Urgo in tow). The novelty of the episode was Urgo's unseen presence in SG-1's daily lives, and the disruption he caused because no one else could see or hear him - not to mention the sheer irritation of his constant gabble for those who could. Been there. Done that. Laughed and cringed at the singing, too.

It's a pity, as I thought Dom was fantastic as Urgo (who was, lets face it, magnificently infuriating throughout), and I can understand why it would be tempting to bring him back. But the character is a bit of a one trick pony, really. It would be virtually impossible to create a story for him that's not merely a re-tread of this one. I prefer to savour 'Urgo' as a standalone comedy ep.

You know when you've been Urgoed!

Urgo was awesome, and considering that in real life Peter DeLuise directs a lot of the episodes and even had a starring role in Wormhole X-Treme, I can't see a reason why they couldn't bring Urgo back.

Don't forget it was Peter's dad, Dom DeLuise, who played Urgo. Pete stepped in for a brief moment when Urgo transformed into what he considered to be a 'Handsome young USAF Officer', but it was mostly Dom.

It would depend on quite a few factors - firstly, whether Dom would be willing to come back and play Urgo (possible). Secondly, whether Dom would be available to come back and play Urgo (possible, depending on commitments elsewhere). Thirdly, whether TPTB could come up with a suitable plot that wouldn't just be this one all over again in a different setting (unlikely).

Of course, we could plant him in a Prior and see what that does for his smug theories about Origin... :prioranime07:

Nah. I think Urgo rocks - but I know he didn't float everybody's boat and I think his return would just send him from being 'endearingly irritating' to 'downright bleep! annoying'. Shame, really. But IMHO I think his story is best left off here.

That's just my twopenn'orth. Happy to agree to disagree, though.:)

"Booooring!"

Sometimes I know just what Urgo's getting at. Mostly when I'm at work, of course. That is possibly what they had in mind when they coined the term 'boring' in the first place.

Of course, it might not have been something Urgo actually said to prompt Sam to tell him off for being rude. It could have been an off-colour gesture - given that he's invisible as well as inaudible. Not sure that Urgo knows any particularly offensive ones, though!

It's interesting to speculate, of course - though we have to keep that speculation a lot cleaner than Urgo possibly did!:)

I'd love to know how much was scripted and how much he just came up with himself. At one point Urgo is talking to SG-1 and he is obviously reading their minds. He looks at Jack and mentions Mary Steenbergen. Of all the actresses for Jack to like, I thought that was a cool choice.

I've just watched this episode for the first time and loved it. It's great to have episodes which provide a bit of light relief amid all the 'serious' stuff and this one worked brilliantly.

Urgo is a great character, although I wasn't sure whether I wanted to slap him or hug him. I guess he could get a bit much if he was inside your head the whole time.

One thing i always wondered, was who made him/ruled that planet???

Wasn't Urgo created by Togar, the guy he ends up being implanted in at the end?

Togar seems to be alone on that planet - he'd make a good friend for Harlan.

It's a shame they didn't revisit Togar/Urgo, they obviously have some advanced technology and are great characters; we didn't really find out all that much about them.

Yes, but was Togar linked to the Gou'ald, ancients or some other 'super advanced' race?

Yes, but was Togar linked to the Gou'ald, ancients or some other 'super advanced' race?

This would have been interesting to explore. Since he seemed to be on his own on that planet and was unwilling to travel from it, I would guess that he's either the last of his kind and/or on the run from someone...or something.

Togar could be of the same race as Machello, they are both scientists, working (seemingly) alone on their respective planets. Maybe to protect their research from the Goa'uld?

This was a great episode anyway, for a stand alone comedy episode. Urgo is a great character, so annoying but very funny at the same time! :)

taht is actually a very good theory and considering the level of their technology it could be quite likely.

I thought Urgo was a good and funny episode. I think Dom DeLuise did an excellent job in the episode.

I don't know if anyone knows this, but Dom and Chris Judge weren't in very many scenes together. This is due to the fact when they did share a scene, Chris couldn't keep a straight face.

I thought Urgo was hysterical. The part where he's in the briefing room and says he'll be as quiet as a mouse and not say a thing... then "let's play a game, some kind of wonderful game, oh, with a dictionary..." Oh, it's my kind of funny.

Is it defribulating now?

I kept expecting him to get annoying, but I just kept laughing. Laughed even more the second time I watched it. Just lovely.

Urgo is definitely the best minor character I have ever seen on SG1.

I take care of 6-year-old triplets. Last year, when they were 5, I got them pulled into my Stargate addiction. How? By showing them Window of Opportunity and Urgo. They are now totally obsessed and these are still the two eps they request the most. We just watched Urgo again two nights ago, and they were still laughing hysterically. Favourite moments:
-Row, Row, Row Your Boat
-playing hide and seek
-"All I DO know is...I don't even like yogurt" -Jack

Interestingly, I watched this ep only a few days ago, I didn't remember it being so good 'n funny :P Comes pretty close to Window of Opportunity, though Jack is infinitely more funny in that one, and Teal'c too.

Agreed. I just watched that episode again. I laughed a lot, I think "Urgo" was one of the funniest episodes of SG-1 in general.

Urgo: (Singing) Me me me me me-me me me-me. Me, me, me me me. Me me me me me-me-me. Me-me me-me me me me me-me me.

:jack:: Will you stop it?

Urgo: Jeez!

That part always makes me laugh.

I'm almost through with Season 3, and this was by far my favorite episode of the season. And, honestly, I don't see it being topped, hehe.

Urgo was a great character, and I think the credit for that has to go to the acting done by Dom Deluise. I don't think the episode would have been half as good or interesting if they had cast someone else in the role. You wanted to find him annoying, but you just can't, all you could do was love him.

I watched this episode for the first time today(I'm new to watching SG-1 and am slowly making my way through the seasons). Anyway, I didn't find it funny at all. It's an okay episode, just not humorous to me.

The little implant to gather information is a cool idea and I like the fact that Urgo became his own unique "life form".

Why didn't Sam notice that the images being sent back weren't real? Standard procedure requires them to locate a working DHD with the M.A.L.P. before going through the Stargate, correct?

In the end I suspect that Togar agreed to put Urgo into his mind in order to get rid of SG-1 and figure out how the error occurred. Though I don't doubt that he destroyed him soon after the transfer. Or perhaps he learns from Urgo and becomes a well rounded person...

Ahhh... one of my faves now... that was Peter DeLuise? Oooh makes sense, Dom is a fortunate man to have such talented offspring! Hahaha... he was comedy gold on this, I missed watching him on Candid Camera and there's a good connection too!

I liked the whole theme of Urgo wanting to live vicariously and experience all the senses... that part with all the food was AWESOME :D

I always thought it was Peter who was the lucky 1 to have Dom as his father. I loved this ep & I always enjoy Dom. It's not my fav but very enjoyable when I'm in the mood. I can always depend on StarGate for a good laugh break :)

I loved this episode-it was hilarious. I think that if the guy who created urgo could implant sentient technology without using surgery, he could figure out how to remotley open the iris or send a code through. I thought, though, that they could have done a lot more with this ep. It would have been a great 2 parter.

"Urgo" is indisputably one of the best SG-1 episodes ever. Personally it is my Favorite, over the top Episode Stargate has ever done. Dom Deluise is hilarious in anything!!! And Jack shines... Big fan, great writing, great directing. It takes place basically only on the base, yet the episode never drags! "Bubbalah!!!!"

After having seen "Urgo" several times, I started watching characters in the background when Urgo was supposed to be around. It's a wonder any of the airmen or other people in the background managed to keep a straight face whenever he was around. And Teryl having to sit right next to Dom deLuise in the briefing room must have been terribly hard for her to not laugh right out loud at his antics. I just recently noticed in the scene where Sam is walking down one of the corridors talking to Urgo, being followed by an airman, and stops to talk to Janet and Hammond. When Sam leaves them and continues on down the hallway, she can be seen in the background as though she's talking to the airman who has been following her around. But she's actually scolding Urgo (I'm pretty sure) for whatever he's been saying to her, and the airman is standing there looking at her as though she's crazy. There are several fun background scenes like that in this episode, and I love to watch for them.:)

Which brings me to my next question. Your dad is a great cook. How about you? Do you love to cook? And if so, are you good at it? I only say this because I happen to suck at cooking no matter how hard I try.
Window Of Opportunity is my all-time favorite episode probably of any television show. Ever. What’s your favorite Stargate episode? It doesn’t have to be one on which you worked.
Thanks so much for stopping by to talk with us. I’m very excited you are back!”

PDL: Hug for Dad… on it. I am not a great cook and empathize. My favorite is ‘Urgo’ because I got to work with my Dad. I also really enjoyed “Wormhole X-treme”.

Shiningwit writes: “OOH! I have a question for Peter DeLuise. Season 3 URGO is a favourite of mine and looks SO much fun. I love to watch the background guys trying hard to pretend like they can’t see Urgo. Did the senior Mr DeLuise ad lib any/much and was it as much fun for you guys behind the scenes as it was for us on the other side of the TV screen?”

PDL: Yes, keeping a straight face was very difficult on the set of “Urgo”. Many ruined takes due to laughter. My dad did ad lib a fair bit. There was an enormous amount of material in post that Brad Wright expertly waded through in editing to make a wonderful episode.

ChelledeBoer writes: “Oooh goodie…questions for Peter!!! I had a major crush on that man back in the 21 Jump Street days…I was all of about 17/18 years of age…ahh the memories!?Ok…Peter…thank you so much for joining us here for a Q&A session. I just have a few questions if that’s ok.?1. In terms of directing, what was the most difficult episode of Stargate you directed and why??2. What was your favourite episode of Stargate that you directed??3. What is the most difficult aspect of directing??4. In terms of acting, do you get a chance to stretch your acting skills much anymore??5. What is the one thing you would have loved to have seen happen on Stargate SG1 that didn’t happen??6. How’s your dad? I loved him in the episode Urgo and the movie Smokey and the Bandit. He makes me laugh. As do you when you do your Bill Cosby impersonation!?Finally, any chance of you popping down under for a meet and greet with the fans?? I’d love to say hi.?Thank you. Cheers!! xxxx ~Chelle”

PDL: More numbered questions…
1. ‘Most difficult’ – “Condemned” …Too many cast members in too many scenes. I still have nightmares.
. Favorite episode to direct, “Urgo” (because I got to work with my dad) and “Wormhole X-treme” (Brother)
. Trying not to freak out.
. No. I miss acting.
. Love alternate reality episodes. I know it’s a stretch but I wanted to see Walter Harriman and Sam Carter consummate their relationship in zero gravity.
. Dad is well. I really like Australians… anything is possible.

Robert writes: “I have enjoyed all the Episodes you have directed.. One particular one stands out for me… Urgo from early on in Stargate Sg1..
Did you enjoy directing Your Father…??Will we see you working with any of your brothers again..
I think all You Deluise Men are superb actors.. I still remember you from seaquest…
Will you be writing any Episodes for SGU…?Or possibly be in line to direct any SG1 or SGA Films..?Or even coming up with any stories for future stargate Films.”

PDL: Yes Urgo was my favorite to direct and I cherish that time I had with my dad. I love working with my brothers so I hope that happens again. Re: my future with SG… I don’t know. I hope so… time will tell.
