    Third Annual Sam/Jack Ship day

    H
    APPY SHIP DAY!!

Sam/Jack Ship Day was begun to commerate the first airing of Divide & Conquer, a favorite episode of many S/J Shippers. The episode was first broadcast on July 28, 2000.

First and foremost, this thread is for Sam & Jack Shippers to share, talk about and discuss their favorite Sam & Jack moments. This is a PROTECTED thread. If you DO NOT like the pairing of Sam & Jack, please DO NOT POST HERE! There are other threads where you can voice those opinions.

This thread will only be open for the 24 hours of Sam/Jack Ship Day (This has already been prearranged with a moderator). The times will be 12-midnight-12-midnight Eastern Daylight Time (U.S.). Sam/Jack Ship Day 2005 starts at:

    US Pacific - 9:00 pm, Wednesday, 7/28
    US Mountain - 10:00 pm
    US Central - 11:00 pm
    US Eastern - 12:00 Midnight
    UK - 5:00 am
    Germany - 6:00 am

Please use spoiler tags for seasons 8 & 9. Pictures are not spoiler-protected.

Various members of the Sam/Jack Shipper Family have worked on some special surprises for this event. Here are a few of them.

    1. There is a poll at the top of this thread, created by LOL4JACK. Please vote for your favorite Sam/Jack Shippy Moment!
Although we still haven't gotten the
big honkin' kiss [color=navy] (in our timeline, without alien intervention or disease), we've had some great shippy moments over the years. Make sure you cast your vote if you want your favorite to win!!!!
    2. Several special guests have been invited for this event. They include some of the authors of some of our favorite Sam/Jack stories (a joint project of nell and sg-1fanintn), and maybe a member or two of TPTB (invited by Oma-1 and LOL4JACK).

    3. Another poll may also appear during the day, so keep checking back as time allows.

    4. Several members of the S/J Ship Family have prepared special photo features. You'll enjoy these too! To start us off, here’s one from ShimmeringStar.

    Here's a smaller-sized one. It's 600x450 & 79K

And the link for the wallpaper:

What can I say, except I love this ship!! I love all the moments that are between Sam and Jack. The looks, the teasing, the too few and way too far between physical contacts.

      Dear S/J Ship Day attendees,

Recently, members of the Sam/Jack Family Discussion Thread discussed Fan Fiction (where Sam & Jack are definitely together, no alternate reality, no alien viruses, no doubt!). It started when I asked if anyone else had a stack of printed fanfic as large as mine, which is about a foot and a half high! I need not have worried. Some of our members have entire filing cabinets full of fanfic, while others read online and rarely print hard copies.

During this discussion, we decided to share links to our favorite stories with each other. This list is the outcome of that discussion. Please note: some of these fics are Mature or NC-17. I have marked each one. Stories without warning notes are G. Site addresses that may contain stories of various content are not rated. Younger readers and those with sensitivities to this type of matter should consider themselves advised!

      FROM NELL

I started thinking about our fan fiction collections and I wonder if you Shippers are interested in having a Fan fiction Swap? Please suggest a better name!! Anyway, how about we each suggest ONE of our favorite Sam and Jack fan fiction stories and I"ll make a list at the end? We could open this up for a limited time, say, 24 hours. One suggestion per Shipper. Then see what we get!!

Yes, this is very hard! REMEMBER, this is ONE of YOUR FAVORITES!! We know we all have lots of cherished stories!!

Tell me what you think! Just a little fun activity for the weekend! Include the link or web address if you can, please.

I'll start: Dancing on the Volcano by Toulouse (Includes PG and R versions)http://www.montrose.net/toulouse/page6.html

I like to think of it as having a collection. You know, like a hobby. Yeah, my hobby is to collect great fanfiction. And coming to The Thread is a great way for me to share my hobby interests with other, ahem, hobbyists!!

      FROM SG-1FANINTN

Yes, “hobbyists.” That’s a lot more flattering than “fanfic fanatic.” And I love your idea of sharing fave fanfic titles, Nell! Several of my favorite fics have already been submitted. So, I’ll submit one that is in GW’s collection. It’s called Exile, by Bastet, and it’s at: http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/archive/21/exile.html (MATURE ). Sam and Jack get stranded on a planet for several months after a mission goes bad, and..…well, you should be over 18 to read it.

Here are links to three related stories by Jo R. It's a series, actually, and I really enjoyed them. I thought the POV was right on target. Hope you like them!

      Loose Ends: http://randomramblings.faithweb.com...n/looseends.htm
      Knots: http://randomramblings.faithweb.com...ction/knots.htm
      All Tied Up: http://randomramblings.faithweb.com/alltiedup.htm

I found a link for someone on the thread who described this story. It's called Twilight, by Gail Delaney. It's on GW at: http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/arc...0/twilight.html (PG)

            FROM SG-1FANINTN

Ok, here's the one that's really long. Sam & Jack get stranded on a deserted planet with a broken DHD. The title is actually What Will It Take? It's by astrogeologist, under her pen name SG1_fanfic. http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/arc.../whatwill2.html (SOME MATURE CONTENT)

I have to also mention this very subtle ship S/J fic. It’s called Question of Suitability, by MissAnnThropic. I don’t read her stuff too often, because sometimes major characters die in her stories (noooooo!), but that’s not what happens in this one! It’s basically a conversation between Jacob and Daniel about Sam and Jack. I really liked the way it showed proof of J & S’s feelings for each other. It’s at: http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/arc...questionof.html

            FROM BILLIE

Boy...fav fic....talk about mission impossible!! Always love a challenge though. I have to admit I had a phase of reading fic when I first became a shipper and pretty much read Sally Reeves’ entire collection (loved all of them ), but then RL got in the way and it wasn’t until recently that I started up again. This time, I picked up the recommendation for meimei’s fanfic either in this thread or my other fave, the RDA Thunk Thread. Anyhow, maybe because meimei’s fics are fresh in my mind, but mainly coz I'd couldn't put one in particular down (thus only getting a mere four hours sleep before starting a 12-hour shift at work), I would have to vote Temptation (MATURE CONTENT): http://home.earthlink.net/~shiawmeimei/id129.html

Can I just say now, if meimei pops in and reads this....could you make your fic any more addictable!! ((((((((meimei)))))))))

But please feel free to read what I have so far and be sure to post reviews for both!

            FROM OMA-1

My nomination is Reap What Is Sown by Karibou. Another stranded off planet and dealing with the consequences fic. I love the way Karibou deals with the Court Martial for this one and doesn't use contrivances to avoid it. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1999024/1/ (PG-13)

And just for your amusement (as if we haven't got enough fics to read ) - Just A Kiss by iamdragonrider. It's an SG-1 twist of The Frog Prince fairy tale. I thought it was hysterical !! http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2387974/1/ (PG)

            FROM LADY JEEP

And here is my contribution of fanfic. I keep mine in the library for my eBook reader and always have several stories available to read if I have to wait for an appointment or when I'm traveling.

Oh my gosh, pick ONE? That's soooo impossible. But after a good hard think, Guarding the Gate by Rowan Darkstar: There's no resolution, but this is so beautiful, it's highly worth the read. Beware, there's strong mention of (as you like to refer to him) ... don't let that put you off, though.
                http://www.sg1-heliopolis.com/archi...uardingthe.html

This isn't exactly for shipper day but it's so beautiful and intense and needs waaay more reviews than it has, which is why I just have to post it here seeing as though we're recommending and swapping fanfiction... And for folks new to the wonderful world of fanfiction, anything by Karibou: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/645548/, Sally Reeve (especially!): http://uk.geocities.com/mystories_uk/, and Suz: http://members.tripod.com/~SuzVoy/fanfic.html are amazing and breathtaking must-reads!

                    FROM MELPOMENE

I was reading some past posts about fave fan fic's.........for those of you who enjoy the more mature stories, may I recommend Limos, Foyers & Bedrooms (MATURE) by Jenifer624 (aka D'rinda')......Gail R Delaney's site Sam & Jack - out of the room is also another must see for fellow ship-mates.

Read my fics in the Gateworld archives here.
                    And more at http://www.fanfiction.net/~melpomenemuseoftragedy

                    BY GET CARTER

I also have notebooks and piles and files full of fanfic. It's very addicting. It's really hard to pick a favorite but I'd have to say the one that stands out every time for me is Kate McKaye's In Dreams Awake http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2225829/1/ I love all of her stories but that one I can read over and over again.

And then of course there's Mei Mei...who, in my opinion, is in a class by herself. All are A++++ and highly recommended!!! http://home.earthlink.net/~shiawmeimei/id56.html (SOME MATURE STORIES)

                    BY SGT. SILER

Just thought I'd pop in here to tell everyone about some of the fics that I truly enjoy.

Birthday Traditions by Kate McCaye. It's a WIP so be warned, but she's releasing them pretty fast. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/625070/ This is the link to her profile and her works follow.

Broken Illusions by the one and only Meimei! It's a little steamy...NC-17, so sorry kids. It's hot! It's action packed and just plain WOW! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. http://home.earthlink.net/~shiawmeimei/id128.html

The Fish Tank by getcarter. It's a funny one! http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/arc...hefishtank.html

Back To Reality by Mei Mei: http://home.earthlink.net/~shiawmeimei/id6.html (MATURE)

                    FROM TOKEN

ONE???? *looks at file cabinet* How can I choose?? There are soooo many GREAT ones!! ACK! Hmmm....if you're going to force me to choose, then OK. This was one of the first fanfics I ever read, and it got me hooked! It had me up all night reading. My husband thought I was crazy, but I couldn't go to bed until I knew what happened. It's 117 pages!! It's also an adult story, but it has great action, romance, and surprises! Enjoy!
The Odyssey by Carhop: http://www.sg1-heliopolis.com/helio...theodyssey.html (MATURE)

                    FROM JAY

Picking one favorite story is pretty tough for me. Don't think I can just pick one. How about an enitre series? My favorite would be Chosen Hearts Series by Hail Dorothy: http://www.emeraldrose.net/stargate.htm

I think I’d have to recommend Sally Reeves’ (aka SG1 novelist Sally Malcolm) Christmas Flame. It was one of the first fanfics I’d ever read, just about this time last year (and I still haven’t read a heck of a lot of fanfic). But I'd highly recommend her works - she's a wonderful writer.
