Sci Fi Channel's ambitious reworking of "Battlestar Galactica" is championed in many quarters as the best first-run science-fiction series on television. And if you're running an operation with Sci Fi in the title, that's a decidedly nifty thing to have on your schedule.
The reviews and ratings have been so strong, it seems countless light-years ago that Sci Fi's new version of "Battlestar Galactica" was launched in that universe known as controversy.
But the 2003 "Battlestar Galactica" miniseries won acclaim from critics and viewers, prompting Sci Fi to order the series that premiered in January. The second season begins at 10 p.m. Friday.
