I actually didn't like Blink at all. I think it's because The Doctor was hardly in it. I prefer episodes where he's getting stuck in saving the day, not standing on the sidelines and letting someone else do it.

I think it's because The Doctor changes and Rose freaks out and Jack 'dies'. I know he comes back to life but he gets left behind and it always makes me sad. :)

At first, I thought
it was because they didn't know he was alive, seeing as Rose couldn't really remember being the Bad Wolf, but in season 3 the Doctor tells Jack that it was because he was a bit scared of him. Jack is a fixed point in time, he's a constant fixture in the universe now, and that spooked the Doctor a bit, so he left Jack behind. Which I thought was very mean.

it wasn't just the dr who was scared, when jack latched onto it at the beginning of Utopia the TARDIS freaked and flew to the end of the universe. it would have been much worse if jack got back into the ship when the dr was regenerating while being transported to the end of the universe.

Possibly, remember I'm a lot older than the rest of you so I've watched more Classic Who where there was no shippy nonsense, apart from Harry and Sarah-Jane and maybe Dr 4 and Leela, but I always thought that the shippy nonsense was to appease the American audience, at least there'll be none of it in Series 4 with Donna

Maybe, but
Jack didn't know that he was immortal at that point. Just that he'd been brought back to life, so he'd think that getting sucked through the time vortex would probably kill him.

I seriously hope there is no 10/Donna shippiness. I can't stand her. Although they have good chemistry, I watched the Comic Relief special they did and that was hilarious.

David Tennant was Catherine's (in the form of that annoying schoolgirl) English teacher, and she made a huge fuss of the fact that a Scottish person teaches Scottish, not English, then she asked if he was 'the Doctor' and he said no (whilst keeping a straight face ;)) and then, just when she was getting to her most annoying stage, she recited about 10 paragraphs of poetry from memory, turned to look at him and yelled "Bite me, alien boy!" David paused, blinked, reached into his pocket for his sonic screwdriver and zapped her into oblivion :D

yeh i agree from jacks point of view he thought the dr and rose left him behind. but the dr and rose knew he was alive, from the canon of that 'children in need' special, coz rose asks if they should go back and get jack, and dr tells her he's busy rebuilding the the earth

donna has the possibility to get really annoying really fast, but i guess she was mostly pi$$ed off in Runaway Bride coz she had no clue what was going on, and she just wanted to go back to her wedding. does anyone know how she finds the dr again, or he finds her? coz i guess she's gotta be more open to things now if she's gonna be travelling with him willingly.

i totally agree. right now in the SGDU thread myself and another poster are bragging that our graduating year is the best :P . but i don't think we've gone too far off topic here; JB -> DW -> series four. a logical train of thought

Yeah, it's not too bad, it's amazing what it takes to drag a topic off course

i think i've been the cause of some of those drags in the past lol. i've found that sometimes if the thread only has a couple of people in it at the same time it becomes more of an IM chat, rather than discussing the topic. i don't mind people saying hello how are you and such, but i've seen threads with people talking about how their boyfriends and other related issues.

Your not old, I'm old. My love of Who goes back to the Pertwee and Baker era. And keeping on topic, I watched the series on the same channel that JB did whiled I was in high school.

Hehe...I saw that on YouTube and almost fell off my chair laughing, and it didn't help that DT's accent reduces me to giggles (actually come to think of it anyone from the male species with an accent reduces me to giggles)

donna has the possibility to get really annoying really fast, but i guess she was mostly pi$$ed off in Runaway Bride coz she had no clue what was going on, and she just wanted to go back to her wedding. does anyone know how she finds the dr again, or he finds her? coz i guess she's gotta be more open to things now if she's gonna be travelling with him willingly.

She was on the screen not even five minutes before I wanted to slap her. How he's going to put up with her is beyond me.

but I'm working when it's on :(

-sets timer-

They're gonna have a marathon of s1 the entire day before TW and I got to see a clip of part of the pilot When Jack's showing Gwen the Weevils

I freaked out the fanboys this afternoon 'cause I had the piccy of the Jack and Ianto face plant as my wall on my compy and then that launched a discussion on if TW was slash or not and if Jack was just gay, bi, or would flirt with anything with a pulse. (I voted for the 'anything with a pulse' idea).

hehe...I think I scared some DW fanboys today. Before we closed for the evening a group came in and a few were wearing Who shirts. So, naturally being a Who fan myself I said that I liked the shirts and if they had been watching the new series. They said yes and we got to talking about TW and how it's going to be edited tomorrow and that I needed to see the "original" BBC version.

Well, I got a little "excited" (shall we say) over all this, the mere thought of seeing Jack again makes me giggle...that and the three cans of soda and coffee I've had today, and might have inadvertantly come off as an uber-fangirl. But scaring boys away is normal for me. -headdesk-

I just said, 'pot, kettle, black' and that shut him up. For five seconds but it was a moral victory.

Well I only occasionally watch Star Trek if it's on (I think I've only seen Enterprise and The Next Generation) though I've seen the first 2 seasons of BSG. I lvoe Doctor Who but only the new series, and I'm on season 3 of 4400. I've never seen B5.

A room full of fanboys has never been so silent.

Finally got around to watch TW and -SQUEE-. As pilots go it wasn't that bad although I had to watch it a second time to serously watch it (the first was the fangirl viewing ^-^) I liked how they refrenced three different Who episodes and I knew what the heck they were talking about. And they showed the Owen face plant with the girls boyfriend so I thinking that they didn't cut out too much (although they did cut out a few f-bombs) I loved Jack's line about Ianto; "And he looks good in a suit." and his reply, "Careful that's harassment, sir." I half-melted with that smile of his.

Although I still wonder what they cut out and how much they're gonna cut up the second episode

true, coz from my experience of watching many years of tv (and it has been many years of doing nothing but watching tv :) ), censors seem more likely to cut two men kissing than two females. over here, Queer as Folk was on a channel that not too many ppl get, at a cruddy time slot. The L Word? 9 pm channel 9! they moved TW to midnight tuesdays after greeks bareing gifts, too lol

hopefully the stations wont censor too much, the show is driven a lot by the characters and their relationships, hetro or homo-sexually driven

from what i've observed, the US will take chances with, and fund as many series as it can, but they all have the same basic plots and structures, while the UK seems to take chances with their shows, not only with funding and producing, but with the content as well

Maybe it's because we're not so 'Tight @ssed' even back in the 60's we were writing and producing thought provoking stuff such as Cathy Come Home (I cried as I hugged my daughter when I watched that) and A Taste of Honey, the Naked Civil Servant in the 70's, Threads, Boys from the Blackstuff in the 80's Queer as Folk in the 90's and Bloody Sunday in the 00's. I've been reduced to tears several time by some of the great dramas on our TV. If the BBC shied away from making Cathy Come Home in the 60's homelessness would never have been bought to the public attention and the charity Shelter would never have exsisted. TV can't shy away from thought provoking drama because it snowballs, sometimes good sometimes bad but it does what it's supposed to, gets everyone talking.

that's so true *claps* there's a lot of shows out there that have the potential to do exactly that, reach people and bring them issues they normally wouldn't know about, but the fail to do so.

i'm kinda ashamed to say the most that Aussie tv hasn't done anything that i can recall in recent years to further any causes.

I stopped watching Neighbours a long time ago, there was a series about Firemen it's got to be over 15 years ago, I can't remember what it's called but it was kind of like London's Burning, set in a fire station with a female recruit who the station head thought shouldn't be there, it centered around a hunt for a arsonist who turned out to be one of the firemen. that's why i'm gonna ask him to get into character first... JB is as gay as can be and proud of it... i'd never have the heart to ask him to do something like that... but Jack is a totally different story... you have to remember, there are subtle differences between acter and character... yes the actor brings what he/she can to the character, but the character is essentially a completely different person.... but i also have a question for Scott Gill... i wanna know that with as man on-screen snogs Jack has that John has to act out, does he/ has he ever gotten jealous of any of John's coworkers??

^ Woohoo for Torchwood

I 'Lost' Alex once, my ex was working and I woke up late, Alex was about 3 at the time, I went into her room and she wasn't there, looked in the front room, the kitchen, the bathroom, still no sign of her. Then I really started to panic, thinking she'd opened the door and gone out...until I remembered she was staying overnight at my mum's house :o I felt a right twit

My bed used to have compartments underneath it for storage, and once when I was about 3 I crawled in there and fell asleep. My parents were looking for me for ages

My dad lost me once. I was a baby and he put me on the bed and went into the bathroom, and I rolled off the bed and got stuck in the gap between the bed and the radiator (it was off ). When he came back in I was gone and he did his nut.

Rosey, do you know how to use the multiquotes function? It's easier than what you're doing, I only figured out how to use multiquotes about 2 months after I joined

it's the buttong between 'quote' and 'qr'; you select the posts you want to quote, and then click 'post reply'. then the quotes will be there!

aw...that's so adorable

w00t for TW! I think they got such good ratings because they promo-ed it up the wazoo and those over here who are into DW knew about it and if they couldn't DL it waited until last week to see it. Either way here's hopin' -crosses fingers-

...I was thinking the same thing.

I also have this sudden urge to do a Jack music vid to Kanye West's 'Stronger'. Maybe because of the line 'now that don't kill me/can only make me stronger' :D
