Comic-Con 2005: Finally, some names to drop

    From Sign on San Diego:

Comic-Con 2005: Finally, some names to drop

    BSG related:

    Fri., July 15, 2005

3 p.m.: Mary McDonnell (President Laura Roslin), James Callis (Dr. Gaius Baltar), Katee Sackhoff (Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace), Jamie Bamber (Capt. Lee "Apollo" Adama), and Grace Park (Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii) appear for a Sci Fi Channel panel discussion of Battlestar Galactica, the second season of which premieres later that night.

8 p.m.: To keep us geeks from bailing out and going home to watch the season premieres of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica, the Sci Fi Channel is showing them back-to-back at Comic-Con.

    For Firefly fans:

    Sat., July 16, 2005

2:15 p.m.: Director Joss Whedon and the cast of Firefly and the upcoming Serenity feature film (Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau, Gina Torres, Sean Maher, Ron Glass, and Jewel Staite) talk up Serenity. And they'll probably show clips. (To bridge the gap between Firefly and Serenity, Whedon is publishing a three-part comic series.) But watch out for Whedon-worshippers -- they may just bug him about Buffy and Angel. (Plus there's a 10:30 a.m. Sunday panel about the Serenity role-playing game.)

Bruce Campbell fans...Thursday is your day.
Friday has a number of excellent guests: Stan Lee, Natalie Portman, Stop-motion animation legend Ray Harryhausen, etc
    And Saturday:
    • 10 a.m.: Get in line early for the discussion of ABC's Lost with Josh "Sawyer" Holloway, Maggie "Shannon" Grace, and Harold "Michael" Perrineau, along with promos for Invasion and the new Nightstalker series.
    • 10:30 a.m.: Director Bryan Singer talks up his upcoming Superman Returns.
    • 11:45 a.m.: Actress Charlize Theron talks up her role in the upcoming live-action version of Aeon Flux.
    • Noon: Amanda Tapping, Ben Browder of Farscape fame and Beau Bridges from Stargate SG-1 and the cast of Stargate Atlantis talk up their shows. Browder's appearance should be interesting, since Farscape fans – 'scapers – generally revile Stargate. It's like the Star Wars/Star Trek divide, only geekier.
    • 1 p.m.: Director Kevin Smith of Clerks and Dogma fame talks.
    • 2:15 p.m.: Director Joss Whedon and the cast of Firefly and the upcoming Serenity feature film (Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau, Gina Torres, Sean Maher, Ron Glass, and Jewel Staite) talk up Serenity.
    • 2:30 p.m.: Rob Zombie and cast members talk up Zombie's upcoming The Devil’s Rejects.
    • 3 p.m.: J. Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame talks about his TV shows, comics and radio work.
    • 3 p.m.: Legends Ray Bradbury, Ray Harryhausen, and Forrest J. Ackerman all take the stage together for a group discussion.
    • 3:30 p.m.: Kate Beckinsale talks up Underworld: Evolution, the sequel to her vampire flick Underworld.
    • 4:30 p.m.: Sci-fi authors Kevin Anderson, Orson Scott Card and Vernor Vinge join a panel discussion on science and storytelling.
    • 4:30 p.m.: Simpsons creator Matt Groening and others talk about his creation and its future.
    • 5:15 p.m.: A presentation on the upcoming King Kong feature film. Guests to be announced.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Working...
