Katee Sackhoff to appear at Toronto Trek 07/17/2005 (http://www.tcon.icomm.ca/tt19/index.php?pg=bio&section=k_sackhoff)

Interesting writeup:

"Currently, Katee Sackhoff is starring on the Sci-Fi channel's tv show Battlestar Galactica as the pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. Dirk Benedict, who played Starbuck in the original BSG series, recently gave his blessing to the new reworked series in an off screen meeting of the two actors." For Katee to take on the new female role of Starbuck is a big step, given the controversy surrounding the gender difference of the two Starbucks. She has handled the pressure amazingly well while giving her character new depth and keeping the swagger of the original. In fact, the only cast member to be nominated for a Saturn Award was Katee. In Canada, you can watch Katee's ongoing portrayal of this classic science fiction character on Space: The Imagination Station, Saturday nights at 8 p.m.

Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Katee only seriously turned to acting after a knee injury kept her from competing in sports at her high school. The staple of high school drama productions followed, including Bye Bye Birdie and Fiddler On The Roof. After graduating, professional acting was the only choice as she appeared in the Lifetime movie Fifteen and Pregnant with Kirsten Dunst. Acting in a string of other projects as star of MTV's Locust Valley pilot, cast member in The Fearing Mind, guest spots on Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane and ER, a recurring role on MTV's Undressed, and movie roles in Hefner: Unauthorized, My First Mister, The Glass House, and Halloween: Resurrection, Katee says she learned the most from working with Richard Dreyfus. In the CBS series, The Education Of Max Bickford, Katee plays Dreyfus' teenage daughter Nell Bickford.

:p ;) :) :D
