    Hammond - isms

I love George Hammond, one of my favorite characters in the show. Since the beginning, he's had quite a few mannerisms that have made him who he is. What are your favorites?

My favorite is his reaction after Jack says "Yes, M'lord" to him. The face he makes is priceless.

    Yours?

'WHAT THE SAM HILL IS GOING ON HERE!!!!!!!'

    is a favorite

and his exasperated 'jack, get the hell out of my office'
Where in the World is George Hammond?

It's not native to Hammond, but I like it when Bratac calls him Hammond of Texas (for some odd reason).
Dark Helmet: So, Lone Starr, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
Dark Helmet: No, it's not what you think. It's much, much worse!

Col. Sandurz: Prepare for light speed.
Dark Helmet: No, no, light speed is too slow.
Col. Sandurz: Light speed too slow?
Dark Helmet: Yes, we'll have to go right to...Ludicrous speed!
Col. Sandurz:Ludicrous speed! Sir, we've never gone that fast before. I don't think the ship can take it.
Dark Helmet: What's the matter, Colonel Sandurz...CHICKEN?!

        Typical Hammond sayings include:

"Do it" (juts about any ep)
"You have a go" (the vast majority of eps)

I like his expressions and reactions whenever Sam Carter explains something to him, how his eyes google out but he tries to look like he has knowledge of the potential solution as best as he can... inevitably leading up to the aforementioned orders.

            Favorite Hammond mannerisms:

Look of exasperation (often) with SG-1 - Eg: Upgrades -- "I thought the devices were supposed to enhance their abilities, not make them stupid!"

Look of excitement (not so often) - when he flies in the death glider in "Into the Fire" - "Yeeehawww!"

Look of "oh brother" he gets on his face at some of Jack's remarks -- Eg: when Jack declares his deep and undying love for Hammond in Heroes 2.

Most of all I like his wise and somber look when he's comforting those he commands -- Heroes 2: "You try to tell yourself that every man and woman under your command means the same to you. Each has to be equally valuable if you're going to make the kind of decisions that affect their lives the way I have to. But you can't help it. You get closer to some people......you never want to lose anyone."

I love General Hammond and will miss him a lot.
Life is hard...and it's harder if you're stupid

"Colonel, the United States is not in the business of interfering in other people's affairs."

              And of course..

              "Are they.... sane?"

I love his reaction in 'Absolute Power' when Shifu leaves:
"What am I supposed to say? All personnel this is General Hammond. A glowing energy being is headed for Level 28."

Another good one was when somebody (Hathor maybe?) said he had a "crown of marble".

I really like it when he uses "Son" as a term of endearment for people.. I found it especially touching when he used it for Teal'c in one episode.. I can't remember which one it was.

I've loved him from the begining. My favorite Hammond-ism is in COTG when O'Neill and Kalwalsky are playfully arguing over which one is going to what planet and Hammond turns to them and says, "Why don't you just go where I tell you to go?"

                      Love that man...

                          My bad.

What ever he was in, I loved him in it. Man, I am going to really miss him.
