    Fanfic Flash!

    Hi everyone,

A few months ago, one of my favorite writing sites shut down. I didn't realize until now how much I had gotten attached to a game on there, called the Flash game. To play, we had to write a short story or poem using five words/phrases given to us by a third person. It's really a great way to get creative juices pumping, and I thought I'd see if there was any interest here.

    I'll start:

    Teddy bear

    Black leather

    Tel'tak

    "Yeah, I know that now!"

    Picture frame.

If you're interested, write a story with these five words and phrases in it, and post a link here! Oh, and if anyone is interested, I'd appreciate someone giving me a few words to write with, too.
    It must be a Thursday.

I've never been able to get the hang of Thursdays.

Roll up your pantlegs- you're in JoePa's house now! Congratulations Nittany Lions on an Orange Bowl Victory!

Okay boys and girls here it is

Sam woke with a start, she'd been dreaming about the teddy bear her parents had given her when she was five. She'd found him when she was clearing out her loft. Truthfully she had been burying memories of Pete, the things he'd given her and the shared memories, that's when she'd come across the bear, she'd been keeping it for her children, fat chance of that now. There was no point in denying it anymore, her body clock was ticking. She'd decided to keep the bear in the loft and give it to Mark's kids when they had kids of their own. She sat up expecting to see a prison cell but this was a very opulent room, richly furnished, laid out with food and drink and a locked door no doubt. She got up and went over to the door, peering out she could see a jaffa on the otherside, yep she was a prisoner alright, albeit in a very luxurious cell. She wandered over to the table and began to pick at the fruit that was in the bowl, strawberries, grapes, cherries, tangerines all of her favourites, someone had gone to a lot of trouble for her comfort. She groaned and began to massage the back of her neck, SG-1 had been exploring PA9-425 looking for more ZPM's when a Tel'tak had passed overhead, they had thought nothing of it until they came across the jaffa. They'd given the jaffa a run for their money but they had been outnumbered so she'd ordered the retreat. The last thing she remembered was Daniel screaming her name, she'd made the fundimental mistake of turning round, that's when she'd been zatted, but who's jaffa had they been. She heard the door unlocking and a dark skinned man walked in, Baal, oh boy just what she needed, the overlord-of-the-galaxy-in-waiting. She looked him over, he was wearing a long frock coat, black leather trousers and boots, he looked like a Highwayman out of those historical romance books that Mark's wife liked so much, not that she'd EVER admit to General O'Neill, Teal'c and Daniel that she'd borrowed a couple of them to read herself. She looked him over again, however rediculas that outfit sounded it suited Baal well, maybe not a Highwayman but certainly he could pass for Rhett Butler. She idley wondered if he was wearing a white shirt under the coat and if there was a staircase in this palace..................OH GOD!!!!!!!!! she was fantasizing about Baal being Rhett Butler with her as Scarlett O'Hara. She mentaly shook herself, she had to take more water with it in future.

"Why'd you bring me here" she asked, Baal smiled

"I need your help" he replied,

"You!! you need my help" she smirked "The great all powerful 'god' Baal needs the help of a mere mortal", Baal moved and sat next to her, he moved his hand to touch her then jerked it back suddenly.

"Yes my jaffa found an Ancient device on the same planet you were searching, as you have the most knowledge on Ancient devices I thought we could........" he licked his lips ".....come to some arrangement" he smiled lazily at her, she swallowed nervously, there would be hell to pay if Jack ever found out she'd helped Baal.

"No, I can't" she said regretfully, the scientist in her was dying to know what he had

"Don't you want know what I have to offer you in return for your help" said Baal, he clicked his fingers and a jaffa brought in a ZPM, Sam heard herself draw breath.

"This is what you have been serching for isn't it? I have ten of these in this very palace and they will be yours if you will help me" he cajoled. Sam could feel herself weakening, ten ZPM's, they could dial Atlantis, they could power the Antartic weapon for a couple of years, the benefit's were beginning to outweigh the nagging doubts about this deal

"Ok I'll help you, if I can, I don't know what you have or how I'm supposed to help you" she replies. Baal smiled

"I knew you would see sense in the end" he said. He took her arm and led her out of the door and down a corridor to a lab. When her eyes ajusted to the light she wished she'd never agreed to help, on the bench was an Ancient Repositary of Knowledge. Her breath came out in a gasp, no amount of ZPM's was worth Baal getting his hands on the Knowledge of the Ancients.

"I'm sorry I can't help you" she replied. She turned to go, two Jaffa blocked the door "I can't do it I'm sorry, send me back to the planet". Baal waved the jaffa away and led Sam back to the room, she heard the door lock behind them, Sam took in a deep breath and breathed out slowly, her escape was going to take some planning. Baal watched her, he could almost see the battle of wills inside her mind, part of her wanted to examine the device he had shown her, part of her was worried about the justice the Tauri military would bring down on her if they found out what she'd done, part of her wanted the power devices he'd offered her. The thing that had intregued him the most was the tiny flash of something in her eyes when he'd first walked into the room, was it desire?

Sam rubbed the back of her neck again, the pain was getting more acute now, it was the stress she knew it now. She was beginning to understand why the Brits called people who annoyed them a Pain in the Neck, she flinched as she felt his hand on the back of her neck

"Don't......don't do that" she said as she squirmed away from his hand

"You need to relax" Baal replied

"Yeah I know that now" Sam said

"Don't fight it, do what YOU want not what's right, you want to examine that device, you want those power devices" he bent down and whispered in her ear "and you want to go home don't you, I can make it all happen for you, just help me with that device and I'll give you what you want". He moved slightly and handed her a picture frame, she turned it over and saw the picture of her and Pete, taken the first time they went dancing. "I could even give him back to you, if that is your desire" he murmered in her ear. She didn't want Pete back, Pete deserved better than her, she'd only agreed to marry Pete to satisfy her ego, she couldn't have O'Neill so she'd settled for Pete. She'd loved him, sort of, but she'd loved O'Neill more, she always had and always would and that wasn't fair on Pete. Baal was massaging the back of her neck again, this time she didn't stop him. She knew exactly what he was doing, he was seducing her into doing his bidding. A little bell was ringing in the corner of her mind, where had he got the picture from?

"Where did you get that picture" She asked sharply, he kept on massaging her neck

"I have my spies on Earth, it was easy" he replied

"You've been spying on me?" she said incredulasly

"Just as you have been spying on me" he remarked.

"So we're equal, is that what you're saying?" enquired Sam "I know about you, you know about me". Baal nods and stops massaging her neck, Sam twists her head around, gingerly

"Has the pain subsided?" he asks, she nods

"Yes it's gone completely, thank you" Sam replies "Why didn't you just use the healing device?" Baal smiled laviciously at her

"It wouldn't have been so....plesurable would it?" he replied, dear god thought Sam he's flirting with me, well two can play at that game. She smiled flirtatiously at him

"You know you're good, really good" she looked him up and down again "Tell me, have you ever heard of Rhett Butler?"

OK- It's not exactly canon fic, but here it is! Thanks for the words!

              Pennsyltucky- Part I

Tara rubbed her eyes on the deserted ride home. "Man, am I tired!" she exclaimed to no one in particular. She was the only one in the car.

It wasn't as if she hadn't made this trip before- the way things were with her grandmother at home, she had spent more time on the road between Ada, Ohio, and State College, Pennsylvania, than she had at either place.

Suddenly, the engine gave a horrible, whirring, grating noise and shuddered to a halt. Megan sat in the drivers seat as she came to terms with what had happened. She was on a deserted stretch of highway, sitting in a worthless hunk of metal that had once been her Ford Taurus; apparently without a cell phone either, as she tried to get it to work. She got out of the car with the air of a farmer pronouncing the death of a prize bull, oblivious to the soft glow behind the mountain and the streak of charged particles still shimmering in the air.

              "GADAMMIT!"
              ***

              "Bogie is down!"

With that, a cheer went up from the men on the Prometheus. The attack by the rogue system lord Lug had been successfully defended.

"Congratulations, men," General Hammond said sternly. "Another good day's work."

"Sir? We may have a problem," said the light-haired man with glasses at the navigation controls.

"What is it, Harriman?" the General said.

"They were able to get some control before they crashed. Apparently, the weapon didn't affect the backup systems."

              "Where did they crash?"

Harriman pointed to an uninhabited portion of Pennsylvania, somewhere along Route 22. "Near there, sir, inside the National Park."

"Take care of it," he said.
              ***
Megan slouched along the roadside. There wasn't any use trying to get her car to work; the electrical system had been completely fried. Same thing went for her cell phone. She was hitchhiking.

Oh well, it wasn't so bad. At least it was scenic, within the boundaries of the national park that ran along Rt. 22 for most of the drive home. She inhaled deeply the smell of the wild roses that were blooming somewhere in the dark, and continued on. There was a ranger station around here, somewhere. She'd find it and wait until morning.

He had been taken away from his dish of chocolate chip ice cream for this?

One moment, General Jack O'Neill had been sitting in his cabin in Minnesota, enjoying the confection between breaks from fishing, and the next- well, he was here, aboard an Air Force helicopter, headed for the middle of Pennsylvania. A few teams were already there, but he had been called in because he had the most experience with Atum.

Who were they kidding? All they had to do was secure the craft, track down any remaining jaffa with any good hound dog, and the job would be done. Suddenly, he heard a crackling on the radio. "General O'Neill? We have a situation."

"Oh for crying out loud," he muttered. He turned his radio on. "Yes?"
              ***
In the designated area, in fact just on the other side of the ridge from where the ship had crashed, lay an abandoned car, its engine still warm. On its windshield lay a note.

"Electrical system out- went for help. Will return with tow truck in morning. Megan Cartwright." The airman read aloud into the radio. "We have someone in the secure area, sir, and she is most definitely in danger. Life signs have been picked up in and around the Tel'tak. We may have to use lethal force."

"Not on my watch," the gruff general responded. "Your first priority is to ensure the safety of the civilians within the containment area by evacuating them. This includes Ms. Cartwright. I'll deal with the Goa'uld. O'Neill out."
              It must be a Thursday.

I've never been able to get the hang of Thursdays.

What on Earth had he been thinking? He hadn’t been; that was the problem, otherwise he wouldn’t find himself standing on a ladder in Janet’s kitchen shifting the paper decoration along the ceiling for umpteenth time.

“It’s still not centered. More to the left,” Janet directed.

Jack stifled the urge to grumble something entirely inappropriate and dutifully moved the paper bell yet again. Hadn’t he already put it in this spot before?

“How’s that?” he asked and gave Janet a pleading look. He’d been at this so long that he was starting to sweat.

“Perfect,” Janet chirped. “Can I give you a nice cold beer for your help?”

“Absolutely,” Jack said with a grin and got off the ladder and put it away before Janet thought of some other decoration that just ‘had’ to be placed so high.

“Here you go,” she said, handing him a bottle as he returned to the room. “Should we break open one of the bags of chips?”

“Sure,” Jack answered and took a long draught from his beer before wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. “So, how long before the guests get here?”

“They should be here soon. Oh, God, No!!” Janet dashed out of the room with Jack on her heels.

                              “What?”

“I forgot the cake…it’s still at the bakery,” Janet said, grabbing for her car keys.

“I’ll go get it,” Jack volunteered. Damn, he’d done it again. Now, he was going to lose his perfect parking spot out front. He was just too nice sometimes.

                              “Thanks. You’re a real life-saver.”

“Yes, well, saving lives, planets; you name it, I’ll save it,” he joked. “Which bakery?”

                              “Antonio’s.”

“Got it. I’ll be back in no time. While I’m gone, don’t forget to add the bananas to the fruit salad,” he said, flashing a grin.

“Right, thanks,” Janet said and made for the refrigerator as Jack went out to his truck.

Thirty minutes later, Jack returned to find the entire block filled with cars, every single spot. Fortunately, Janet had been thoughtful and had placed a hurriedly written sign on the back of her car that read: ‘Driveway reserved for Fraisers and O’Neills’. As Jack parked on the right side, he let out a tiny laugh, grateful that Cassie didn’t yet have her own car to park there, thus taking his spot. He was going to have to borrow the sign for use at his own house the next time they had a BBQ.

“Hey,” Jonas called out as Jack emerged from the vehicle.

“Hey,” he replied with a nod.

“Janet heard you pull up and sent me out to help.”

“Good. How long you been here?” Jack asked and moved around and opened the passenger door.

                              “Not long…the place looks great.”

“Thanks. You can get the doors,” Jack ordered and took the sheet cake out of the cab, carefully balancing it in his hands. “Is everyone here?”

“I guess so,” Jonas answered as he closed the truck door. “Except for the guest of honor and her escort, of course.”

“Excellent. So, lots of presents?” Jack asked, making light conversation as they moved toward the front entrance.

“Quite a few,” Jonas answered, sounding a bit nervous.

“Relax. You’re not the one who has to open them.”

“Right,” he said with a nod and opened the front door.

Jack entered and made directly for the kitchen, nodding politely to a couple of the nurses as he passed them. He waited for Jonas to go in first then he placed the box on the counter for Janet to set the cake out however she pleased.

“So, did you two ever decide which woodwork to use in the living room?” Jack asked and guided Jonas out of the room before he could be enlisted to assist Janet with anything else. He loved her dearly; that’s why he’d helped to begin with, but he’d been at it since they’d woken up that morning. Never on a Sunday should anyone be required to wake at 06:00. He should have turned off her alarm clock when they’d gone to bed the night before.

                              “Not exactly.”

“Oh well, at least you finally agreed on a house. The rest of the details will fall into place in time,” Jack chuckled and patted Jonas on the shoulder then his expression turned most serious. “Just make her happy. That’s all Janet and I ask.”

“I’ll do my best,” Jonas said with a beaming smile.

“She’s coming everyone!” Janet called out and all eyes turned toward the front door as she opened it.

“Surprise!” The roar was enough to make both Cassie and Sam jump with a start. Janet had invited many more ladies to the bridal shower than she’d let anyone know about.

“That’s our cue to get out of here,” Jack said with a nudge to Jonas’ arm and led the way over to their lovely ladies.

“Sir,” Sam automatically addressed him as he approached.

“We’re off-duty; it’s Jack,” he reminded her yet again then he placed a tiny kiss on Janet’s forehead. “I’m going to get the groom outta here; be back in a few hours.”

                              “Sounds good,” Janet said.

“Just don’t get him drunk like last time,” Cassie warned.

“He won’t,” Jonas assured her then he leaned past her and pulled Sam in for a deep kiss that caused a chorus of hoots and howls to rise up behind him. “Save me some cake,” he whispered as he let her go.

“Yeahsureyoubetcha,” Sam smirked and watched Jack and Jonas go down the driveway before letting her bridesmaids drag her off to join the others.
