Not sure if this is the right place for this but I'm sure the mods will let us know if it isn't

I was going to call it the Dr Who/Chris Ecclestone Appreciation thread but the Doctor will regenerate soon so I left it at the Dr Who thread

Good news girls Capt Jack is in the next series apparently and there are plans for a third series

I caught him on the Tuesday repeat! He's alot quieter in real life than I thought! Made me laugh though how pleased he was to have beat Vinnie Jones! :D

TheWarrior

He was very quiet on Top Gear.

For fans who didn't see him on Top Gear - Christopher only passed his test if I can remember 18 months ago and has only been driving the past 12 months.

For the race around the curcuit they had to get the car they always use on the race track as an automatic as that is all Christopher can drive.

When it came to the race around the track - the BBC got it so the car faded in and out and we had the Tardis sound. He started off slow but got faster and as BritAngie said he was well chuffed he beat Vinnie Jones.

I found out when Doctor Who started he was in Gone In Sixty Seconds - so I watched it and saw him - he was so different to what he is like now. Everyone else seen him in "Gone In Sixty Seconds"?

I've not seen Gone in 60 seconds but I did laugh at his story about that American journalist asking him what car he drove and he said he didn't drive! And that they all seemed to back away from him like he was abmormal! :D I think he said he'd only been driving 14 months and had an automatic driving licence. (Cue the Top gear audience stepping back! lol) And am I the only one not to have heard of a Liana? Is it some sort of Skoda or something? Only 30 automatic Liana's in the country.. heheh wonder what state the owner got it back in? "Dear insurance company I would like to apply for repairs for damage due to Doctor Who driving my car at speed." Actually I'd love to see the note which said "Dear Insurance company- please can I add Doctor Who to my insurance policy as a named driver... " Can you really see them saying yes?? :D

I saw the Top Gear repeat at work (following the subtitles, cos there's no sound), why do people think not being able to drive is so strange, I can't drive but I made the decision not to learn because as a diabetic I'd be a liability on the road.

Will we see David Tennant as the new Doctor on Saturday as the last scene

You know I think CE has just been brilliant. I've always been a CE fan and have loved most of what he's done. However, to me the best Doctor was/always will be Tom Baker. I want to say CE but I can't.:D

Tom Baker was brilliant and his voice was so distinctive. I would say Chris ecclestone is a close second though.

I like CE from what i've seen so far. I have to have video tapes mailed to me to watch it....still no carrier that i know of in the US and i won't d/l them.

I was excited when they announced he was going to be the Doctor and he's lived up to my expectations.

However he's only 3rd on my list. Tom Baker and John Pertwee rank higher for me. Baker was just brilliant overall and Pertwee had some throwback style that really made him cool.

Never thought anybody would replace Jo and Peri as my fave companions, but Billie Piper is a goddess.

I bought my kids one of these no frills, region free dvd players for Xmas, only cost me £40. What a buy, not only is it region free but it also plays divx files (very handy;)). It is very basic and lightweight but worth it just for the divx thing. I ended up getting another for downstairs and it's great. I wouldn't use as my main player, but it's great for playing the dvds that my main player won't. I wouldn't normally buy something so cheap and nasty but every now and again you do get a bargain.:)

Did anyone get wot badwolf meant coz that kinda confused me, sumthing about connecting rose to the doctor thru time??

Here's my take on it:

Bad Wolf is the tv stations name, the words used. By using the words and sending them through time and space Rose/Tardis becomes the Bad Wolf.

Rose/Tardis chooses the words because Rose has seen them in the past, the reason Rose has seen them in the past is because Rose/Tardis sent them back.....it's a self-creating paradox.

Rose/Tardis sends the words through time and space to act as a trigger. She sends them to all the places that Rose has been to, to act as a trigger until Rose finally twiggs. Seeing it in the playground proved to Rose that the message was for her, and there was something she had to do...go back to save the Doctor.

It's a chicken and egg situation.

I've been watching Dr Who since I was a kid, I think you have to watch some of the old ones, the one's with wobbly sets, bad FX and rubber monsters to appreciate how good the new series actually is, have a watch of some of the Confidentials on the BBC site, you can also see clips of the Classic series, they have clips of the other 8 Doctors too, have a go at downloading and watching before you treat yourself to the box set in November

It's one of the most successful shows on UK tv at the moment! It's been a HUGe hit over here! We are talking nearly 50% of the viewing audience watching it each week. Also as a show it's been going for decades and is probably the oldest running sci fi series ever.

Over here the trashy tabloids and the very posh broadsheets are singing it's praises and recommending it as quality family drama.

Oh and I love it! :D

So I'd say it's worth watching! :D

It certainly is old. It's the world's longest running sci-fi programme (27yrs), first transmission was in 1963 it then ran through till 1989, a movie in 1996 and now the new series which, as BritAngie has already said, is attracting a very healthy audience share. Another fact is that in it's heyday the show attracted a worldwide audience of over 110million.....not bad eh?:D

Add to that the novelisations of virtually every classic Dr. Who story.

The series of New Adventures published by Virgin and starring the 7th Doctor, then there what they called Missing Adventures starring the previous Doctors' and various companions.

BBC books then got the publishing rights in the late 90's, and began churning out 8th Doctor stories. The majority of which got a bit - odd - towards the end of their run. The Doctor loses his memory. The TARDIS is destroyed. One of his companions, a Gallifreyan girl named Compassion, turns out to be a prototype genetically engineered living TARDIS...

Oh yeah, and let's not forget the Dr. Who comic strip which has been running in Dr. Who Magazine since around 1980 or so.

I suppose you could technically say it's 42 yeas old (they did celebrate a 30th anniversary officially at one point! :D ) and that after 1989 it was on a long break which continued through teh fabulous New adventures and audios and now a new shiny series! Some are calling the new seasons series 28 onwards rather than season 1 so in peoples minds it's never stopped! :D Actually that's scary- Doctor who the series is older than me! :D

Yes I vaguely remember there being some cooperation in the higher echelons of muggledom.
