I just read a section about "30 Things Your Didn't Know You Could Do On The Internet" in PC World, I just got in the mail.
And there's this site that lets you see what your favorite Sites looked like years ago.
However, you can only look back to 1996.
Here's the link:

That's pretty good fun actually...found a few other sites that I was interested to see the older versions of...

Gateworld looks very different now, I have to say...but in a good way! :)

What do I have to type in to find the old Gateworld?

I haven't been to the site, but I know GW was called 'Starguide' originally, so if 'GateWorld' doesn't work try 'StarGuide'.

I typed in gateworld.net and it worked and displayed the old GateWorld pages. It takes me back to when I first visited here.

Yes, thanks. That worked. I went back to the earliest page cited. Articles include Don S Davis reflecting on the longevity of Stargate SG-1 and, oh, look, news that AT had just won a LEO. :D

Guess you weren't a member then, right? ;) ;) ;)

I found it very interesting to read some of the early articles, esp. the ones concerning Atlantis. Fun to look back and see if your ideas or opinions were correct.

Thanks for posting the link, Now. :)

IT LOOKS SO BAD! LMAO!

I'm finding it really entertaining to look back on gateworld and see all the early speculation on Atlantis. I had no idea they were seriously considering having Martouf's symbiot as a regular character. :D

It won't go back farther than 2002 for me either, but wow. It's amazing to know all the stuff us fans got from GW way back when, and it's come a long way. :D

This is so amazing! I accessed a page from April of 2002 and one of the thread was about Janet / Teal'c fan fic which I just asked about this week on the Teal'c Appreciation thread!

That's just too weird...

That's odd. Hadn't they already killed his symbiote off at that point?

Atlantis has been in the works for a long, long time and has undergone several major changes, mainly because SG-1 has continued getting renewed season after season.

Wow, it looked quite different 3 years ago - can only get to GW from 2002, tried Starguide but it said the site had been blocked from robots, so I guess it's not archived?

Still see similar stuff in the old design of course. I kind of like the worldwide tv listings and recent forum discussion sections on the homepage though... ;)

Who is "Baltimore?" No one, according to writer Joseph Mallozzi! The original Cult Times article (quoted above) misquoted executive producer Brad Wright. "I asked Brad Wright about the Baltimore quote and he denied making it," Mallozzi said. "After reflecting for a few seconds, he realized ... he hadn't said Baltimore at all. Apparently, when asked about Bigger, Badder Goa'uld's identity, he said, 'Let's call him Voldimar (sic?)' -- the name of the villain in the Harry Potter books."
Voldy! :p

hehe, this is fun. :p

EDIT: Fragile Balance is listed for season 5! "We'll be learning about Jack's teen years (though plans for this episode are on hold for the time being)."

The actual old forum is still up, but it's closed to new posts. People still visit. A couple of times a year I'll look up something on it myself.

http://forums.delphiforums.com/starguideforums

If you're not a member of Delphi, click the green "Guest" button. Skip the ad, and you'll arrive at the Gateworld Forum start screen.

In the left column of the start screen the ten most recent threads are listed (early 2004). Click on a thread name or click on the green "Start Reading" box.

The threads are grouped by general topic. Click on a general topic title to see the fifty most recent threads in it. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the column if you want to go back even further.

There are other ways to navigate, but that's a good start.

You know what has changed a lot, the Google homepage (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.google.com) along with the Yahoo homepage (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.yahoo.com).

I can't seem to get anything newer than Nov 20, 2003! When I click on newer links I get the current GW2.0 site (with the SGH returns Feb 22 on top.)

Yeah, that's one of the draw backs to doing that, all you have to do is refresh the page (if it doesn't show "gateworld.net" (and only gateworld.net nothing more nothing less, except for the "http://www.") in the title).
