Have you seen Plan 9 from Outer Space?

Hailed by many to be the worst movie ever made... but has become a cult classic in its own right.
Poor Ed Wood... he did take it so seriously...
Even though I giggle at the ridiculously bad acting, the terrible sets and props, the awful story... I can't help feeling that everyone involved really wanted to make a statement.

But I don't think it's the worst movie ever made...

I've only seen Ed Wood but you've just reminded me I need to rent Plan 9. It would have to try hard to beat Manos the hands of fate for the title of worst film ever.

It's definately not the worst ever made. I saw one (a third of one) at my father in laws called "Wizard of Gore" or something like that. THAT was the worst movie ever made.

Plan 9 actually had a semi-intelligible plot. Plus it's got some truly great it's so screwed up it's funny moments. I might call it the production gone most horribly wrong from what it was trying to do.

But there's nothing funnier than watching the graveyard chase scene randomly switch back and forth between day and night, and then seeing the invasion of the burning paper plates ;p

I also love the fact that our solution to losing the star was to have his replacement spend the rest of the film with his cape in front of his face ;p

Ah... yes... the unforgettable graveyard chases... the burning paper plates...
Every scifi and horror cliche thrown in... wonderful stuff...
*Sigh* I think my high school skit had better special effects... *giggle*

Yes... the star stand in was just hilarious... skulking around like grim reaper on crack...

We made a five minute horror film with plastic halloween props on our front porch - and WE had better special effects ;p

We shot my sister in the head and it actually looked sortof real - except that she had no clue how to take a realistic fall ;p

            Unfortunately yes!

But it was one of the paraody versions were the star character was dubed over, Making "viagra" and sex jokes and also pointing the flaws in the pointless movie.

OMG comander we need more ash tray ships! Send them!

The film was originally sopposed to be called " Intergalactic grave robbers" but since it was being funded by a christian church it was renamed.

I always thought the title made no sense... I mean what WAS Plan nine, anyway? ;p

                A parody version?!
The whole movie would have been a parody in and of itself... if it didn't take itself so seriously...

...or Hardware Wars. It was supposed to be a spoof of SW featuring kitchen appliances. I think that movie landed with a major thud best unheard...or seen. Spaceballs would be a master creation in comparison.

When I first posted about LSOC, I did not know it was deliberately made to be that stupid as a spoof of the old sci-fi movies.

There is a new game released for PS2 and Xbox, Alien invasion or somthing were you play invading aliens, They have the entire "Plan 9 from outer space" film as a easter egg and a few others.

I think Johnny Depp made a film that also parodies it as well as a few classics or more to the point "Depp" mocks its directors and producers.
