http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/g0/claps.gif Great interview guys. My one issue was that it was kinda hard to hear who was asking the questions (was that you Darren :D). And I loved hearing Chris Judge saying: "GateWorld.Net: Your Complete Guide to Stargate" That was great. :)

Just read the interview with CJ and it was just GREAT! A funny thing in the interview was how Ben was welcomed to the show (off camera of course!)

Fantastic... this is just sounding better and better. I love the fact that shows are not being slept-walked through... that ad-libbing is allowed and thrown-in. That gives me confidence that the talent and work-style of Ben and Claudia are being given full reign.

I love the fact that EVERYONE from Oscar winners, Emmy Winners, Saturn Winners etc are just so down-to-earth and no egos exist... and that Chris describes the Mitchell character as really giving to his... this sounds like true team working dynamics to me.

Really, what other show has this calibre of acting cast lately?... SG-1 has the potential, as Chris says, for a good few seasons yet. It's really exciting times for the show and I feel the energy and invigoration from my seat across the ocean.

I am so looking forward to this season...

Great interview so far from all the interview I have read it looks like they worked very hard to get back to roots of the show which is really good to hear.

Fascinating read - is there any time when CJ isn't laughing? What a guy!

Some tantalising glimpses hiding in there about how things will go next season. More going off-world, more exploring, a new team dynamic and a major shift in the galactic balance of power.

I can't wait to see how it will work on screen. Roll on October! :D

Why October? With the wonders of technology I hope to see Season 9 eps no more than 2 days later after their premiere on SciFi :D

With most of the interviews I've done it's been telephone conversations. Several of us were in Chris's trailer with him face-to-face this time. You'll find most of the next few interviews (in multiple formats) will be both Darren and myself.

Chris is a lot of fun to hang out with -- really down-to-earth and sincere. And both in our time with him and at the convention he showed that he's extremely excited about Season Nine as a fresh start for the show.

Even without RDA, it's hard to talk with these guys and not get jazzed about it!

I don't know Chris as a person but this just so came across in the interview. I was already looking forward to the new input but hearing the enthusiasm of the original cast in such a candid interview is raising the anticipation to off-scale levels.

Thanks again for a fantastic interview... really looking forward to the others that you have.

I'd heard Chris Judge was a funny guy and this interview proves it. His candor made me laugh (laziness?).

I'm new to Stargate (ben and Claudia fan) so have just started watching bits of the show. Teal'c is one of my favorites (he and Daniel). Great interview and so nice to see that all these actors, award winners of some sort or another, or part of an award winning show (Stargate and Farscape) have left their collective egos at the door to put on a good show.

Really looking forward to the new season!

Well, I'm so glad the left over cast members from the original team are having such a fun time filming. It'll be interesting to see if the fans of the original team find it so amusing. I liked the Sg1 of the last 8 years, I've bought all the DVDs, 8 x 10 photos, magazines, etc. and I really liked RDA and Amanda. Now two of the originals are missing, and everyones just so darn happy. I really had decided to give the new show a chance, even if I don't know anything about this BB person and don't like the Claudia character at all. The show could sink like the Titanic if the fans take offense to some of this implied bashing of the original cast. Remember Season 9 of the X Files? Nuff said

Amanda's not gone--she's just taking the first five episodes off for maternity leave.

Christopher Judge is always so much fun and it's more and more obvious with each interview, each transcript, each everything I read where he was involved that he definitely enjoys what he's doing and that totally shows in his performances as Teal'c over the past eight years, too.

In fact, between him and Michael saying how good this coming season is, it's done more for me to get wide-eyed and grinning than anything save perhaps Ben Browder coming aboard could've done. :)

Great interview. I assume these were done in April when you guys went to the Vancouver Creation con. I hope there are more to come. :D

CJ's enthusiasm is just infectious - what a great laugh he has. It's hard not to feel some optimism when you listen to these interviews.

I especially loved the part where CJ talks about Ben being determined not to have Teal'c pushed into the background. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy. :)

Question.. i just got done listening to the Interview with gateworld and Chris Judge and something is intresting to me... who is he talking about when he says "The Eggo shell is no longer a factor" i mean im guessing RDA but when u listen to the audio commentary in the DVD's they all say that RDA was one of the funnyest people on the set and fun to be around.

just wondering cuz Judge Stresses that he is happy its like it is now with no Eggos... or is AT like that? and the way he talkes in the interview he talks like Amanda isnt coming back.. i thought only the first 5 episodes she isnt in?
thats another thing.. just wondering

Part of the problem with season 9 of The Xfiles was that no one wanted to be there and it showed on screen. Another problem was that it was never an ensemble show. It was Mulder and Scully. Take away half the equation and it's hard to make up the difference. If SG1 was Sam and O'Neill only, then you'd have a problem. True, O'Neill is the lead guy but it's still been presented as an ensemble show. And Carter will be back once AT's done with maternity leave.

I think when the cast is energized and engaged, it shows in the product. When they're bored, that's going to come across too.

That said, I'm a Farscape junkie so I know that the show would have suffered the loss of its main character (the Browder character). I'm not familiar enough with SG1 to know how RDA holds it together; from what I can tell, he'd been stepping away bit by bit anyway so there was already more of Sam, Teal'c and Daniel to fill in the gap.

At any rate, I guess I'm biased. I get to see my two favorite TV actors at the same time, on the same show, playing completely different characters with a respected group of actors.

I hope it all works out :), if only because I don't want to see Browder and Black get the blame if things don't.

O'Neil was the lead guy on seasons 1-8, but if I remember correctly the original movie, it was Daniel Jackson who was the main character :D

I have to say it took me forever to figure out what you meant, at least I think I know what you meant. When you wrote Eggo, did you mean "ego" (pronounced: eego)? Or is Eggo something else?

If you meant ego, then I thought CJ was talking solely about the new cast members, saying that for being Oscar- and Emmy-winning stars, they didn't have egos like you'd expect them to have.

I agree, but then I know plenty more who don't. KR got the first billing, DJ spent more time onscreen, so either way you could make a case.

Ok I looked at the transcript and found this:
"You hear all these horror stories about people and their personality quirks and all this. He's just lovely. He's just lovely. It inspires and also makes you aspire to do the best that you can. You don't want to be screwing around, screwing up lines and stuff. But the first scene that Beau and Lou did together, they so reminded me of Shanks and I. They just gave each other the gears the entire scene. And it just frees you up to not walk on egg shells."

IMHO Christopher is talking soley about Lou Gossett and Beau Bridges who are both very well known names and could have had big star egos..but there they were teasing each other just like Michael and Christopher tease each other and acting like anyone else in the cast <past and present> who is down to earth and not on a 'star trip'. That meant there were no worries about having to tiptoe around them and treat them any different for fear of offending them. Which was probably something they worried about before the filming began.

It's like meeting and working with anyone who has more experience than you or you don't know what their temperment is going to be like. You don't know how the interaction is going to go until it happens. Christopher was just saying that after seeing Beau and Lou be so down to earth, they didn't have to worry about egos being a factor. Everyone was going to get along great:)

I never got around to mentioning how pleased I am with Chris's new do this year. Not a new do as much as it is a modification of something they were messing with last year. At the start of S8 it was Chia Pet seedlings, and then it went poofy at the second half of the year. They have struck a great balance where they now have his hair moderately short, flat against his head, gelled, and his bangs are trimmed so that he has little points going every which way. It REALLY looks good. Told him as much when we were leaving the trailer.

Saw some con pics in this thread and thought CJ's hair looked really good. More like at the beginning of S8 when it was really close to his head. It's hard to see the little pointy bang things you're talking about in photos.

I also think CJ looks like he's not nearly as bulked up as he was. Looks great, actually. MS looks like he may be a little less bulky as well.

The original cast members sound really excited about the new season. The combination of renewed positive attitudes and the talented new cast members add up to success for Stargate-1. Loved the interview with CJ. The image of him greeting the newcomers with his pants around his ankles...... well it sounds like Chris will be in for some equally imaginative comeback from the newcomers. Would like to hear more about that. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Word from MS/CJ is that everyone is working hard and have all trimmed down. Lots of action, stunts, and a return to the adventure from earlier years.

Ooh, try as I may, I just can't get into the new look of Fargate SG-1, er, Stargate SG-1. While Ben and Claudia were great in Farscape, having them both cast in a show of the same genre fails to capture the imagination. Claudia's character alone keeps me away from what was once my favorite show ever.

Many enjoy the interaction between her and DJ, but I find it distracting. It was always great seeing how Sam, Jack and Teal'c brought out the best in Daniel. With Claudia's character, it's more of an irritation. Daniel's intellectual prowess came to the fore frequently in the past. He spends far too much time recovering from whatever her character drags him into. It's a gratuitous annoyance.

While RDA brought a slew of MacGyver fans to the sci-fi genre, the original SG-1 collectively kept us all there. With RDA, Michael Greenburg and some of the old guard gone, the production has lost a little something. I'm still delighted to know that the franchise keeps going strong. Even if I no longer enjoy it, it's great knowing so many still do. Change is inevitable and I guess we can't all be catered for. So STARGATE FOREVER!!!
