I noticed Robert Patrick will be appearing in Atlantis's 2-part premiere episode, Rising. imdb.com makes it seem like he will not be a regular character.
Robert Patrick:

played the T-1000 in T2:Judgement Day
played Special Agent John Doggett in the X-files for a few years
has a brother that was the former guitarist for Nine Inch Nails
He's been in dozens of movies, (a few of them as cameos as the T-1000)

Do you guys think he is worthy to be a usual fixture on Atlantis? (assuming he is not killed during the first two episodes)

he WILL be killed in pilot, but I would have liked to have seen him in a regular or recurring role

To quote Red Dwarf: "Death isn't the career set-back it used to be."

They've killed so many people and brought them back, even if he is killed in the first episode, he could be back later in the series. He's a famous enough actor, I'm sure that additional future appearances on the show are contingent ONLY on his willingness.

maybe the Wraith could clone him or so

Or they could build a liquid-metal robot version of him!

That would be a good idea to see if the Wraith could clone

idea for an ep:
summer suddenly arrives at atlantis/or sends a message to them. He wasn't really killed, the Wraith just kept him hostage and experimented on him. Later in the ep they discover that he's in fact a clone sent by the Wraith to kill the humans on Atlantis.

sounds a little cliché?

If by "cliché", you mean that SG1 did it 456 times, then yup.

Taking it further on...

They recieve a distress signal through the gate is a video feed. They unlock the shield and he steps through. The gate shuts down and they think he's safe. Instead when they scan him they find a explosive deviced contaned within him, and it is the REAL guy, not a clone. DUM DUM DUM! lol

I was hoping that they would use Robert Patrick as a regular or at least a recurring character. I did like him in the X-Files.

It's a shame really I though he would be a good character on the show

Since Robert Patrick is not a main cast member, I'd really like it if they could make him a recurring character. He'd make a good U.S. Marine (as the pic suggests he is). He was an ex-Marine on the X-Files. I really enjoyed him in Terminator 2. I was hesitant about him "replacing" Mulder on X-Files, but he kind of grew on me so i didn't totally abandon that show. I think he would be a solid edition to Atlantis even if he only appeared now and then. Here's to hoping though because they probably won't. Too bad they wouldn't swap Adam Baldwin (Heroes Pt1) over to Atlantis (or have kept him in SG). We'd have an X-Files reunion going on. Plus I liked his character, Colonel Dixon.

I've never really like Patrick in anything I've seen other than in Terminator 2. He didn't have very many lines in that movie, if I recall correctly. I think its something about his voice I don't like.

You are correct. He didn't have many lines

It isn't a for sure thing he dies...he gets old from the Wraith Queen draining him...but if you look at the pictures..you can clearly see people helping him escape.

Yeah, wheres the spoiler tags! Ive been trying to avoid them. In either case, I like him, he would've made a really good cast member...

If you are referring to the possible death of Sumner, I think this thread has been purely speculative... so they are not really spoilers...

Quite right. We're just guessing the possible fate

I think he's a really good actor, but he's always put into terrible roles...he has so much potential but no one really sees it...

I have to agree. The roles he has played have been very poor

Are you mocking the T-1000 and his almighty run?! :P

Well, even IF he dies they can still have him come from an alternate universe. I maintain that cascade tremors wouldn't be a problem if his :"double" was no longer around...

But SGA does need a better cast. I don't like ANY of the cast from the pics, except for McKay, who's tolerable....barely. Bring on Dixon and Jonas!!!
