I've corresponded with Creation Entertainment recently, and they are considering returning to San Antonio to present a scifi media con. I've suggested they plan one similar to their Aug. 2004 event in Sacramento, CA.

There was a stargate con here in the DFW area this past spring. I remember I was gonna go, but I didn't want to pay as much money as they were asking.
