If the Daedalus stays? Where are they going to put it?

Correct me I am wrong but we havent seen a huge hanger capable of holding that type of ship yet in Atlantis....

perhaps there is a clearing or something like that on the mainland where it can land.

Or, they could use the ZPM to make a connection to Earth and bring the stuff they need to build an hangar over.
Even better, what if Deadalus is air-thight and rust-proof ?
Just landed her on the ocean floor.

There is some land on the Atlantis planet. They could stow it on the surface while its not in use. Either that or somehow dock it on top of Atlantis possibly, the ancients also had big ships(speculation).

In orbit? That way if Atlantis' sensors went down and someone attacked Daedalus would already be combat-ready.

Also assuming Atlantis has Ring Platforms the people would easily get up and down. For larger cargo transports the Asgard transporters would be used.

Tiny problem with that, what if the Wraith have cloaking device.

            1 Sneak up to Daedalus.
            2 Decloak
            3 Blow Daedalus to bits

IMHO Putting her in orbit is a bad idea, she's be a sitting duck for the next Wraith armada.

That wouldn't change if it was on the planet, infact it would be a much bigger target on the planet since it would have to take off and then start moving.

And the only way she'd be a sitting duck is if the Atlantis sensors were down, and if they were one would raise the shields on Daedalus.

Well, even with the shields up and Asgard technology I don't think Daedalus could match an armada of Hive ships.
She'd be blown to pieces in seconds.

And what could the mainland offer that would stop the destruction of Daedalus?

Stealth...but it would need a cloak.
You see, if the ship is in orbit and it cloaks, the Wraith would probably see it on sensors before it faded out.
But if cloaks inside a shielded hangar and then takes off, the Wraith are none the wiser.

What would stop the Daedalus from being cloaked 24/7 like the Al'kesh in Earths orbit?

I think that the daedlus will first transport the zpm to atlantis and then land on the mainland then build there a new base maybe underground. the daedalus will be warned of hive ships because atlantis has long range scanners so. and maybe mckay finds out how the cloaking device on the puddelejumper works and add it on the daedalus or finds a way to extend the cloaking field so a puddle jumper goes in the daedlus bay and extends it cloaking field so it cloaks the daedalus.

else the daedalus will be destroyd after it transported the zpm and some people to atlantis.

1 Power, a cloak needs lot of it.
There might not be enough left for the ransporters.

2 How are WE supposed to find it if it is cloaked ?

                            1. The Al'kesh cloak could operate a minimal power levels, only sustaining life support, gravity and the cloak basicly.

                            2. We have the signal Asgard transporters respond to, and we'd of course have a crew on the Daedalus 24/7. And Ancient sensors could probably break through Goa'uld/Asgard/Ancient cloaking fields.

You mean like transponder on Stealth planes?
                              Good idea.
