Went and saw Ronny Cox and his musical group perform in Placerville
Saturday night. Ronny Cox was very delightful, with a wonderful sense
of humor and very approachable. He mingled with the crowd before,
during and after the concert -- chatting, signing autographs, and
    posing for photos.

The concert producer introduced Ronny, and Ronny talked about he was
chosen for his first movie role (Deliverance) because he played the
guitar so well, which was necessary for the dueling banjo sequence.

Ronny sang a couple of his folk songs, and then told a story about
when he was last working up in Vancouver on the Stargate set. He
asked if any of us had even been ice fishing. He said some of the
crew took him out ice fishing. Ronny mentioned that it was cold, and
to keep the bait from freeing, some of the guys he was with would
keep the bait warm by keeping it in their armpits.

So when Ronny got ready to fish, he cut a hole in ice, and baited his
hook, and was just ready to drop his line through the ice, when he
heard this loud, booming voice say, "There are no fish under the
ice." Ronny looked around, and then started to drop his line again,
and the voice said even louder, "There are no fish under the ice!" So
Ronny said he got on his knees, and asked, "Is that you Lord?" And
the voice said, "No, I'm the manager of the ice skating rink."

Ronny and his group played for an hour and then took a half break,
while Ronny sipped on a draft beer and chatted with the fans. Then,
they returned to the stage and sang for another hour. After the
concert, Ronny again took the time to talk with the fans, sign
    autographs, and pose for photos.

I thought he was very charming, has a very nice singing voice, and
    some interesting songs to sing.

    His songs included:

Always In The Wind (which is about the wind in New Mexico, where he
    grew up)
Sanctuary (about a horse worried about her new born foal)
Quintanaroo (about a troubled young man Ronny encountered in Mexico)
The Connection (a song about Alzheimers)
Corn, Water and Wood (cute song about hot water cornbread)

And we all sang "Good Night, Irene."
