MGM Casting Director Coming to Vancouver - Paul Weber and TVI Actors Studio to Teach Canadian Actors about Hollywood

Paul Weber, head of casting for MGM Television Worldwide, will teach auditioning skills April 16th and 17th to Vancouver actors in a TV/Film Audition Technique Intensive Class with TVI Actors Studio, America’s largest acting school and resource center for actors. Weber will also teach a class about the Business of Acting in America on Friday, April 18th at 7:30pm alongside TVI Actors Studio Chief Executive Officer Alan S. Nusbaum, former agent to Courtney Cox, Jerry Orbach, and Tonya Pinkens.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 30, 2005 -- Is Hollywood coming to Canada? Do Canadian actors need to go to Hollywood? Paul Weber, head of casting for MGM Television Worldwide, answers these questions and others April 16th and 17th when he teaches auditioning skills to Vancouver actors in a TV/Film Audition Technique Intensive Class with TVI Actors Studio, America’s largest acting school and resource center for actors.

“Awareness of the talent pool in Canada is invaluable to me as many of the shows I work on shoot in Canada, specifically in Vancouver,” says Weber. He currently casts in Canada: “Dead Like Me,” “Stargate Atlantis,” “Stargate SG-1,” “Jeremiah,” “PSI Factor,” “FX: The Series,” “Poltergeist,” and “Outerlimits.” “I look forward very much to meeting more Canadian actors. From my experience, the quality of actors has been on par with their American counterparts.”

“While there are many shows and films shot in Canada, many Canadian actors consider moving to Los Angeles or New York so they can increase their opportunities. During the Friday night class, Paul and I will show actors how to take control of their careers in order to become entrepreneurial actors, or what I like to call ‘actor-preneurs,’” said Nusbaum. “Whether an actor decides to make the move to Hollywood or Broadway or to stay in Canada, the same business managerial skills will apply for managing his or her career.”

About TVI: TVI Actors Studio, www.tvistudios.com is an educational partner of the Kennedy Center‘s “American Theatre College Festival.” Famous alumni include Eva Longoria, Mena Suvari, Rachel Dratsch and more. Learn more about Alan S. Nusbaum at his Weblog www.actor-preneur.com.

Class Schedule: The Business of Acting in America class taught by Alan S. Nusbaum and Paul Weber will begin promptly at 7pm on Friday, April 15th at the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts. The auditioning technique class for TV and film taught by Paul Weber is on Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th at the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts.
