Who's your daddy..!? Replicators, meet grandpappy..!

    http://www.iflscience.com/technology...icating-robots

Yeah... Those don't sound like Replicators..!

Let's see... They can come together to form various shapes... Each block can move independently...

Interestingly, the article itself says nothing about them being able to replicate themselves. Clearly, whoever the author was they HAD to be thinking the same thing..! Stargate Replicators..!

The folks making these things want to make miniature versions with an army of 100 so they can 'swarm' together to do various tasks. Nope, not remotely Replicator like at all..!

Judge yourself by the intentions of your actions, and by the strength with which you faced the challenges that have stood in your way. The Universe is so vast, and we are so small, there is only truly one thing we can control; whether we are good or evil... -Oma Desala

They lack the AI, they only have specific pre-programmed tasks to perform. This is not Stargate where robots can "magically" change their own basecode and do whatever they want. Unless some terrorist organization hacks them with a help of a trojan or other malware, I can't see these mini robots do evil things. Plus that's only can happen if they ever going to be using them in the first place.

So stop holding on to your butts and lower that anti-replicator gun!

No, you are right that these things aren't that smart yet... BUUTTTT... (couldn't resist)

This thing is down right 'mini' in actual physical size for what it does (the prototype can be held with one hand), and it processes data at a rate of 640 Terabytes per One/Billionth of a second...

Then add 3D and 4D technology to the mix... There are already 3D printers that can print most of their necessary parts on their own, and the technology is still in its relative infancy. There is even 3D printers that can print BODY PARTS for people. Crazy, right? But, it's true.

So, put all that together at some unspecified point in the future... Well, who knows?
