Default What kind of bug is this?

About as off topic as you can get...

Every year, we get these things in our pool. They swim (upside down) and they can also apparently fly (found that out when one I fished out of the pool flew at my face).

Always wondered what these were, but never managed to get a picture of one.

So anyways, can anyone tell me what this is?

    I think they're water striders.

By the way, when I mean they swim, they actually go under the water and create a small air bubble for themselves.

And thanks...I'll see if that's it.

*Edit: That isn't it, but we have those too.

These bugs have 2 appendages to swim with and six little legs that they can walk with. When they swim they are upside down.

Well, judging from its size, structure, and leg length, I think I can safely classify it as..... something I wouldn't want to find in my hair after swimming.

    I think it's a back swimmer (Notonectidae).

No, he said it swims upside down. Water boatmen swim right side up.
