Anyway, I haven't found any sources on the 8 302 figure. But going by Ethon, which five 302s flew out of one hanger pod, then at that point would be 10 (or more, there could have been more, but lack of pilots, or those weren't ready or they were on standby).

Problem is that visuals is what we got for the size of the ship. We did get a line from Carter saying that an Al'kesh is a tenth the size of the Prometheus. She had to mean length, because a tenth in mass is 2.15^3. The cube rule which means the Prometheus is only a little over twice the length of an Al'kesh. She of course was generalizing, though.

I think it was said in an episode where the Daedalus was introduced. It carries 16 versus Prommy's 8

I think the first mention is in Moebius. However, i'm not entirely sure. It's an ep where Carter explains the advantages over the Prometheus (including the line "It has the technologies integrated into the design rather than tacked on after the fact")

I just recently saw that episode (in a marathon right now) and there was no mention of how many 302s were on board either ship.

Well the problem is, i can remember it being said, but it was a short line, and not in an actual Daedalus episode. So it's like searching a needle in a haystack. Everyone uses these figures (8 for Prommy, 16 for deady), so it must've been said somewhere. It's just a few lines hidden in one of a hundred episodes.

Exactly. However, many figures you can find in a wiki article such as 24 Railgun emplacements on the 303 is totally fictional.

Well, they probably counted the things on a model. However, the model seems to have changed somewhat. Plus, if the Writers want something in, they just alter the model to make it fit.

There are nothing that would suggest Railgun emplacements and it's extremely hard to tell where the railgun fire comes from in Prometheus.

If i remember correctly, they can be seen. However, if the writers say it's not a railgun, it's not. If they say it is, it is. CGI models are not exactly reliable in SG

Actually they cannot be seen on the Prometheus. You can see them on the 304s however. The only thing you can do is do a breakdown scene by scene of where the railgun fire could be coming from.
