I have heard bad things about the sets (poor quality discs and such) but if anyone wants to give either a try, now would be the best time.

The DVD sets are on sale, because no one's buying them. No one's buying them, because the DVD packaging is atrocious. The DVD's don't click into plastic trays, they slip into cardboard sleeves where the discs can get scratched and scuffed over time, interfering with playing the discs. Just get the season sets. You'll save yourself money down the road by not having to replace numerous discs for the above reasons.

Its true the packaging is pretty bad a lot of people have complained about it. I personally have not bought these sets so I can't know for certain.
