Thread: F.O.R.D. : Fellowship of Rainbow Defenders

I get the feeling I was only one of the people that liked crack-addict!Ford, but I'm probably the only person that likes watching people who have totally gone off the deep end. XD I blame the genetic mutation where everyone else I'm related to worships soap operas, but I like sci-fi.

He also just looked really freaking cool, not gonna lie.

Does anyone know what Rainbow has been up to...? Not much listed in IMDB... last time I checked.

    Came across some tweets from Rainbow (he tweets a LOT, evidently), where he talked about Stargate;

I watch #SGU already. Well sort of... I only watch @davidblue 's scenes and skip the rest. I fill in the gaps with random familyguy scenes.
(he and David Blue are old friends)
My #SGU storyline is unlike anything ever thought of by the writers...
If I died tomorrow most people would remember me for a job that broke my heart in stride... Better get to work kid. True Story.
    Sorry. Twitter therapy.
@James6ft3 I was pulled into am office and told I would no longer be on stargate without reason. I've never gotten a reason told straight.

That's poor form on the part of TPTW. Although I don't know, it may be standard practice in that industry. But you'd think they'd at least tell him why. Or tell his agent why.

I havent commented on this thread in a while - Ford was one of my favourite characters, lively and whitty. Don't get me wrong I liked Ronan but why were the writers so keen on making it a 4 man team all the time...I know they changed it later on in SG1 but Atlantis was a completely new Galaxy and they left the ford story unanswered....that really pissed me off!!!

Getting rid of Ford was the downfall of SGA. You might think this is an exaggeration, perhaps it is. But it was the start of the 'easy' solution - if it was hard for them to include a character (even Ford, who was supposed to be the 'everyman'), they scrapped them. Ford was just the first. I'm not saying I didn't like Ronon (I can't imagine the show without him now), but they didn't even try to develop Ford properly.

He's still my fav character on the show with McKay coming in a close second (even though I would probably have killed Rodney with my own two hands had he been my team mate/fellow worker ). That was never a problem I had with Ford though. He was just a great buddy to be around and mostly a kid looking upon the new things the universe offered with huge eyes.

I couldn't have put it any better than that, PCW. At least they could have given his story line closure - and even better yet, let Sheppard take him home to his grandparents' (I know I am a fan of happy-endings - and what's wrong with that anyway? ).

I liked that he was quite bright eyed, the 'everyman' character. It was a shame they never gave him much to do

I would've liked closure - heck, at least find his body - but they don't like to do that. I have to say I was actually caught off guard in The Lost Boys when he said he wanted to go home. Was he just saying that to convinve Shep to do the mission, or did he really mean it?

Thirteen hours to go. A steal at that price (US$56 currently), cheaper than the shipping actually

    BUMP.

Wow, this thread is still around?? Jeepers creepers. Deja vu all over again.

That costume is awesome, Watcher652! And a steal at less than 500. I love it! Any other FORDies still around?

BTW, if anyone (new) tries to click the link in my banner, it doesn't work. The site was taken down years ago, sadly. Wish it would have still been up just for memories.

Ford Re: F.O.R.D. : Fellowship of Rainbow Defenders

I realize that I'm a bit late to join this conversation

I only started watching SG Atlantis a week ago and I'm already at season 2 episode 5. And the very thing I was wondering about, was why the hell they would kill off such a fine character as FORD's. I only saw 2/3 episodes with Ronon in, but Ford was a valuable asset to the show.

He didn't need any character development, it was just a nice guy! Always happy and the 'team' could use someone like that. Since there is this thread, I'm not the only one that figured this out

I'm an alltime SG1 fan and when SG Atlantis started, I watched the first episode and I hated it. Not because it was bad, but because it wasn't SG1 and I was kinda afraid they would cancel SG1 in favor of SGA.

And now years later, after having rewatched every SG1 ep for about 5 times (at least) I have FIVE ****ING SEASONS OF NEW SG material to discover. Ooh I am one happy man

After having watched 7 eps from SGU I hated it too, so I hope one day I can (re)discover it and feel the same joy, although I very much doubt that will ever happen.
