Default SGA full season boxed set?

So who has bought this?? Were the extras in it worth the cost?

EDIT: My response presupposes the question asked was about buying the DVD box set in spite of already owning the single-season DVDs.

I have the DVD box set and the BluRay box set.

The DVD box set has terrible packaging. Plan on buying jewel cases for them if you buy this set and plan on seeing scratches being there right out of the packaging. The bonus disc comes with the features (Mission 100: Atlantis Reaches a Milestone and Stargate Atlantis: A Retrospective), in the similar style as the other features on the other discs. Someone posted run-downs of them here: http://forum.gateworld.net/threads/7...-Retrospective and http://forum.gateworld.net/threads/7...es-a-milestone It also has the broadcast versions of "Vegas" and "Enemy at the Gate" as well as the extended ones already on the other discs.

The BluRay set does not have the above bonus disc (and I also can't find the behind-the-scenes production stills like DVDs have). The picture quality of the extras on the BluRay discs are the same as the DVDs. Only the actual episodes are in BluRay quality.

Each season contains 20 episodes plus numerous special features such as commentaries, deleted scenes, a gag reel, behind the scenes features, episode featurettes, and so on. If you plan to revisit the series from time to time, the DVD's are worth buying.

What about if you already have them in the singular season packs?

I just bought the BluRay Set off Amazon and have just finished a four day SGA marathon. I watched my BluRay set on a new 3D player/TV combo that converts 2D to 3D and it was excellent, the added perception of depth to these productions is magic. I love this series. Today I got my SG1 Box set, I may have to take some time off work to get through that session.

Excellent run down/review. I must say I agree they both have there good points, but I can't believe how grainy the DVD picture actually is after you have seen it on BluRay. I think I have spoiled myself wih BluRay. Additionally it dosen't help that TV in Autralia is now digital either, all DVD seems grainy when you are used to the new HD digital format. I only just bougt the full SG1 box set and now I can't wait for the BluRay set.

I haven't bought it yet because I can't really spare the money. My sister bought it a couple of weeks ago though when it was reduced on Amazon. But then it went back up in price :-( I need to buy it though, I love SGA so much!!

I'm debating getting the BD set, store bought is close to $200!!!! I have seen new ones, proper region (assuming the set isn't region free like most BD's) for $100 bucks less on ebay.

I already had all the seasons of Stargate Atlantis on DVD but I got the complete series on blu ray. I think it was worth it, the price was reasonable for a five season series and the quality is great. My only complaint is that season 1 and parts of season 2 where obviously not filmed with HD in mind so that the special effects, especially the organic ones like the Wraith make up looks allot more fake under the harsh details of HD than on DVD. From mid season two the effects get better though and this ceases to be an issue, other than that this is a great set. The extras is good, not something amazing but nice little featurettes and tidbits that are fun to have.

I got my set on ebay and got a great price on it to. Ebay is my favorite place to get DVDs and blu rays.

Now as for grainyness. I do not think DVD are grainy, most of my movie and TV series collection are on DVD as I can not afford to replace my entire collection every time there is a new format. However what I see when I watch blu ray stuff is that the colors then to pop far more, details I did not notice before comes into view, most things on blue ray just look more real. I think DVD is a great format and it is not grainy, but everything DVD do well blu ray do better.

Every time I have tried to use Amazon it always has a hissy fit about my address, this was at both my last last and current living address and this is also despite the site claiming about international shipping.

Try "Amazon.co.uk" and set up an account, it is free. It will get you to select the types of movies you like and will make offers to you when similar genera come up.

Here is an ebay link that is $20 cheaper than amazon with free delivery.
