I'm writing an AU "Unending" fic where Sam is able to get the team out of the time dilation field without having to reverse time. But I'm stuck on how to do it. HELP!

As far as using official cannon Stargate based terminology and science I am unsure exactly how this could be accomplished. I could tell you exactly how using techno babble terminology and pseudo scifi tech if you wish.

She expands the field, allowing the Oddy to raise it's shields, and she lets the shields absorb the beam over the course of a few days as it enters the dilation field

Smart, but a possible problem with that would be the power requirements for keeping the shield active which was depleted before they activated the field and expanding the TD field.

Use that Asgard Creates-All-Device(that Marrick used to build Replicators and Carter used to make food, water and her instrument) and create 5 ZPM's to compensate.

The ZPM can keep the field active for at least 50 years, so if Carter expanded it in year 1, it would have more than enough power.

Thanks for the great ideas. Since I'll be having them leave within the first year, I think I will you the expanding shields idea.

Actually, not necessarily.
First of all - none of us really know how a ZPM works.

What I think: Like batteries (not rechargeable) work - gather some chemicals in the wild, purify and what not, put in in a specified container and it is pretty much ready to have its energy sucked out.
With a ZPM it might be similar, just, way more advanced - chunk of a piece of space, put it in a specified container and.. kinda ready. Where is the energy coming from? Well, the expansion of space itself in the forth dimension/ dark energy is a starter..
(as one can imagine that, looking in 4 dimensions, there might be a whole lot of emptiness and this chunk of space, that we call Universe. This space would expand in the emptiness, just like a chunk of anything else would do, until its internal structure/ bounding stops it. I think of space a a kind of superfluid, so it would not really have any internal structure and bounding force to hold it together.. )

You are saying it like its a fact, but it is not. As I have said - none of us really know that thing works and there might be ways around this. Recourse - the space itself. Its not perpetual motion, its not unlimited..
I like to keep my options open.

I dont know. Can it?
Stargates/ wormholes, hyperdrives, shields, time dilation fields, time travel, you name it..
Im not saying it is or is not possible. Im just saying that you cant be so definite to say it is not.

Yes, but Sam had 50 years and found out how to reverse time. Surely expanding the field is much easier? And surely in the 2+ years since the replicators escaped the hole, the Asgard would have figured out how they did it.
